    I love projects like this. They're small little additions that help bring the whole car together. Nice work!!

      Thanks! There are so many of these small projects that I can’t find a good visual how to on TH-cam. I’m hoping they will help someone in the future.

      Haha. I have enough projects on my hands. Someday if I ever make it out there!

    I remember buying these at the Ford dealer, the stainless and rubber were sold separately with their own part numbers because typically just the rubber would have to be replaced

      That’s interesting. Come to think of it, you might still be able to get them as separate parts. My molding was just pitted so I replaced it.

    Thanks for sharing. I need to replace the one on my 70. Little behind on videos. I’m catching up.

      No problem! It wasn’t too bad to install

    Good morning Mach l family. I need to replace the rear at glass seal,not the weatherstrpping. This is the seal that the door glass closes up against and forms the seal between door glass and staying glass. Thanks for y'all help.

      Are you talking about the piece I replaced on my car in this video? Are you replacing a 70 or a 69 seal? They are different.

      @@SmackeysGarage No sir. The 73 Mach l vertical strip,with the chrome strip, is on the quarter rear side glass. This glass is stationary, does not go down. Not sure what the vertical strip is attached to? Thanks for the reply.

    Smackey where did you get the chrome weather strip from? Store and part number please.

    • @SmackeysGarage
      @SmackeysGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both National Parts Depot and CJ Pony Parts have them. They do not include the weatherstripping which you have to buy separately. I purchased these a while back when they came as a kit. 22220-2A and 22221-2A on NPD. CJPony parts has them as well if you search Door Glass Molding. You will need to buy the weatherstripping and adhesive separate. Also note coupes, fastbacks, and convertibles have different styles. Double check the part number I gave you for our application.

    How did you remove the original trim?

    • @SmackeysGarage
      @SmackeysGarage  หลายเดือนก่อน

      It was a while ago... but I believe I used a scraper blade inbetween the glass and adhesive. You could also try heating it up and pulling it off.

    Smackey I love your channel and the content of it. It's down to earth and simple which is epic. I have a 1969 Mach One survivor Mustang and watch all your videos as inspiration and guides. I was wondering: if I understand you correctly, this installation is an addition of a weather strip (original one on the quarter window remains) to fully close the gap that otherwise still remains a bit when you roll the windows up?

    • @SmackeysGarage
      @SmackeysGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you very much Silencer!!! I appreciate the kind words and it is really what keeps me going!
      Yes, that is exactly it. There is a stainless steel molding with weather stripping on the drivers side and passengers side windows that makes contact with the stainless steel molding on the quarter window. This piece that I installed in the video closes that gap completely.

      @@SmackeysGarage thank you for your reply! Did you notice any decrease in wind noise during (highway) driving after installation?
      I'm really looking forward to your video on the door rubber trims cause mine are old and need replacement

      @@Silencer84 I haven’t driven it yet. I live up in the North East and we are barely breaking 50 degrees for a few hours each day. I plan on getting it out in the next few weeks. I’ll let you know how it does.
      On the rubber door pieces, that should be either this week or next week. I believe I have all the parts now to put them both on. It seems simple. I’m going to practice the adhesive process beforehand though.

      @@SmackeysGarage hope it warms up there soon so you can enjoy her again. The jade black with striping, just the spoiler and no chin spoiler and sport sport slats is perfect for this car. Mach's without the full spoiler package are underrated, makes them elegant. My car has no spoilers and it makes her a clean machine in Royal Maroon color.
      I'm always a bit afraid of working with adhesives, it kind of feels like a semi-permanent process in which mistakes (placement and or spillage) are harder to correct than mechanical processes haha. Have a good one!

      @@Silencer84 I hope you aren’t disappointed to hear I have a front spoiler to put on the car at some point.
      I agree it is a very elegant look with the way it sits. The front spoiler does make it look meaner. I thought about adding the rear window louvers but it doesn’t fit the look I’m going for.
      Also, I love the Royal Maroon color. It looks great on this year car!

    Nice Mustang Mach 1! My dad has one and he's in the process of getting this molding replaced as well and showed me where he's having a problem. Do you happen to see a philips screw at the bottom of it holding in place? Your video doesn't show it but will you please check when you get a chance? Thanks.

    • @SmackeysGarage
      @SmackeysGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I took mine apart so I can see in and I can see the screw. I believe the screw is only there to hold the rubber piece to the metal piece. That's the one you are talking about right?

      @@SmackeysGarage -- Thanks. I learned I have to loosen the rear adjustment stop so I can raise the window and remove the screw.
