Windows Explorer, which is now called File Explorer, is the application you use to browse your file system and open programs and files. But it also controls things like the Start Menu, the taskbar, and other applications.
This tutorial resolves the following issues:

When Windows 11 works, it’s a great operating system. When it doesn’t, it causes many inconveniences and lots of frustration. Among Microsoft’s pile of peculiarities is its talent for throwing up brain-scratching bugs. Of course, this tech issue is expected when you dispose of your Quality Assurance team and rely on user feedback instead. Regardless, one of these bugs is the Start menu freezing.
This troubleshooting guide will work on Windows 10,8,7 operating systems (Home, Professional, Enterprise, Education) and desktops, laptops, tables and computers manufactured by the following brands: Dell, HP, MSI, Alienware, MSI, Toshiba, Acer, Lenovo, razer, huawei, dynabook among others.
None of the methods worked.

@@mauricet05 windows update had me fixed.... I was frustrated on it, but after a while it fixed, try this..... Windows +x, then Press u two times

Add another local account while signed into your main admin account that's corrupted(i didn't have to put an email just a name of your choice and password), after you add it this should be the admin account now still with all of your apps and settings, then re-add your main info(email you want to become the admin again with and make it admin from the local account that's temporarily the admin) , then open the account recover your settings and apps with this account(make sure everything is recoverable on the proper account name) then delete the local user this worked for me. FYI after you've made sure everything is restored in the proper account you have to shut down to sign out the local account you created as temp account (that had the stuck explorer and unusable search and start menu along with the old Taskbar). Good luck
How do I “ then re-add your main info ( email....)” after I create the user it says finished. I’m then still in user account settings and it shows the new user. If I highlight the new user and press add. It asked if I want to add an email. I assume that’s where and how. But when I added the same email. It said it’s already link to another user...
For those with an Alienware laptop with windows key problems, press fn and f6. it might fix you're problem. spamming fn and the windows key at the same time might work as well.

Hey guys! I just made up a few methods and one actually worked!! Here is what you do!
1. Make sure you have Game Mode turned off on your computer.
2. make sure you dont have any external software that has gaming mode.
3. it should be solved if you turn all of that stuff off.
How do I turn off game mode?

edit: turns out there was a huge update i couldn't install and somthin was wrong with my windows updater that basiclly trashed it and it was telling me it was up too date but i guess it was not
all i had too do was trouble shoot the updater and it and it worked. thanks tho
open task manager then ur file explorer where ur files are then go to task manager find it right click it and restart

None of these worked... MS pushed out a KB to fix this, and their fix broke your PC if you had enabled the setting to go back to classic start menu, and is the exact opposite of one of the so-called "fixes". Simply set the setting as below:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell\Update\Packages and created a DWORD by name UndockingDisabled with a value of 0

@@hritiksingh399 You're welcome! I've since found that there is another issue with the calendar not showing when you click the Clock. Fixed by:
Press "Windows + R" keys
Type "gpedit.msc" and press Enter
On the left menu, click on "Administrative Templates" under the User Configuration section
On the right, open "Start Menu and Taskbar"
Scroll down the list until you find "Remove Notifications and Action Center"
Double click on that, then set it to "Not Configured"
Press OK
Reboot
Where is classic start menu

Guys you can just shut down your pc then load it back up again

Still didn't work even though that last step said it fixed some corrupt files. But I see that with this computer, the location of the calculator, camera, and other built-in apps are located through the OneDrive folder/app.Going through steps of a different video signed me out of OneDrive. Going to try signing back in and see if it works.

Hello, is this grey screen after you log on, if so to check if it was like my situation do the windows key + tab this will show your taskbar, this is happening to me recently and I don't know how to fix it but after like holding down the power button for some time it goes back to normal, however it can still happen sometimes

if none of these work try this:
windows key + i too open settings
type in "other troubleshooters"
find windows update and press "run"
if it says detected try updating your pc now and see if it works
somtimes windows 11 is glitchy and it wont say that theres and update but there is if you dont wanna update
