BONNIE AND CLYDE: Kidnap Dillard Darby and Sophia Stone (number 9)

- On April 27, 1933, two weeks after the Joplin shootout, the Barrow gang, consisting of Clyde and Buck Barrow, Buck’s wife Blanche, Bonnie Parker and W.D. Jones found themselves in Ruston, Louisiana, where they planned to rob the Ruston State Bank. For the job they needed a second car. Seeing an unattended car in front of the Brooks boarding house (with the keys in the ignition I might add), the gang let W.D. out to take it. They didn’t anticipate the car’s owner and his female neighbor giving chase. In anger Clyde took them along for a joyride into Arkansas. In the 1967 film, Bonnie and Clyde showed the couple, played by Gene Wilder and Evans Evans having a fabulous time. Watch this to find out what really happened to Dillard Darby and Sophia Stone in 1933. Oh, and yes, Dillard Darby was an undertaker who would indeed help embalm Bonnie and Clyde a year later just as Bonnie requested of him during their road-trip

Another good video young lady. THANK YOU FRANK FROM MONTANA......
I love hearing about Bonnie and Clyde
Thank you very much. I adore Bonnie and Clyde
That’s flat out insanely nuts! I understand being interested in them, but to adore them is crazy. They were scumbags. They killed innocent people for no reason.
@@firebird_spleen4190 study more!
The banks ripped everyone off. Stole their farms. People were starving. They didn't kill for fun. There was no government handouts like now. The bankers were the real criminals.
GOD BLESS BONNIE AND CLYDE

It’s amazing the way you present your stories. I actually feel with the photos in the way you talk that I’m actually there. I don’t know if that’s understandable to anybody but I can visualize what is going on and thank you.
What a wonderful compliment! I am glad you enjoy it.
@@MMorbid ♥️
Dallas native here. Avid gun owner. Blows my mind the kind of firearms the gang had. Very nice pieces
Yep, once Clyde realized how easy it was to break into National guard armories and take what he wanted they pretty much out gunned everyone! Thanks for watching!
You are absolutely great on making so many historical videos that take each of us through the complete story and explain how some things that were told like of Bonnie and Clyde had no factual basis. I'm going to watch your vids tonight. You are a historian for sure
Thank you! I’m glad you are enjoying them.
Thanks!
Thank you so much for the Super Thanks, I appreciate it so much!
You have so much information about Bonnie & Clyde. And as far as I know most of it, if not all is accurate. I m impressed. Thank you for posting this.
Thank you, I try to be accurate though I will admit with some incidents it’s hard to know what is accurate since personal accounts can vary so wildly! This was one of them.
I still imagine. And wonder. What if they had not forgotten that camera😊
My Uncle was Benjamin "Maney" Gault. He and Frank Hamer were the one's who fired through their windshield
That’s amazing! Thanks for sharing. I’m guessing you never met him since he died so long ago but fascinating never the less.
Not impressed
Very good work as usual
Just when you think there's no more to know you come up with more great job
Thanks!
Glad I found your page.
Me too! Welcome 🤗
Looking forward to your video from the Bonnie and Clyde Festival this year. It was nice meeting you there.
You too, were you the gentleman from Missouri?
@@MMorbid yes that was me, but I was the guy from Oregon.
@@ronedwards2584 oh of course, my apologies! I must have misheard you because I thought your name was John all weekend! Sorry about that!
@@MMorbid it is John. But I use a different name online. lol.
@@ronedwards2584 oh no, I outed your true identity! 😆
You are very well at what you do! ty for the informative vids.

Glad you enjoy it!
I'll always listen to a Bonnie & Clyde story.. or tidbit of info.. mo matter how insignificant lol ! Hope you are well!
You said something that has REALLY gotten my attention!!!
I live in Louisiana. About 45min from south west of Gibsland. I’ve always known that Bonnie & Clyde picked up an old man (now deceased) when he was just a little boy in my area. Bonnie told him he was the cutest little boy she’d ever seen.
Growing up I’ve always known of an old model T that’s down in a ravine that the locals have always said was Bonnie & Clyde’s. I chalked it up to folklore.
After hearing you state the location & condition of one of Clyde’s cars, plus actually knowing they were in my area, it really makes me question whether or not it’s actually one of their abandoned cars.
Very interesting!!!
Excellent video keep’m coming 👍.
Thanks, will do!
Very interesting. Thanks.
Thanks, always enjoy your videos, when that movie came out, I was obsessed and saw it 8 times in 2 years.
Superb presentation ... as always. You always discover 'new' information. The best on TH-cam.
Thank you very much!
thanks and well done
Your content is amazing noone does what you do so thank you thank you so much.. I also love hearing from the people who were related to the people involved in the stories all grew up in these towns and have stories to tell in the comments those wonderful that you bring all this together❤
Thank you so much!
Nice job and great research work! Very interesting to hear it in this perspective!!!
Cool 😎
Thanks I always enjoy your videos
Glad you like them!
Interesting! I had a feeling that scene in "Bonnie & Clyde" wasn't accurate.
Risinger is pronounced "Rye-singer" He is part of my family in North Louisiana
Kia ora from NZ looking good Madam Morbid
I think you are right about Darbys car not being shot up I think I read mabe in the FBI files that Darbys car was a Chevrolet but I could be wrong
Very good video. Don't care for the 67 movie though. It was sorta funny scene, but Bonnie didn't tell them to get out like in the movie.
The movie is legend,! Do your research
My great aunt is Sophia Stone
Wow, what a brave lady. I would never chase after criminals without access to a phone. She didn’t even hesitate. You must be proud. Thanks for watching!
@@MMorbid She died when I was about 8 years old , my family says great things about her. I was told when I was young about this story but I didn’t find out until recently that there was a movie about her , very cool!
You are mistaken when you say that Clyde never killed the owner of a car as he stole it from them. He murdered a man in Temple, Texas after the man jumped on the running board of his car as Clyde was stealing it. Google it.
That man was not a hostage taken for a ride, and that is what I said. They never harmed a hostage, police or civilian. They only killed people who posed a threat to them and sadly by getting on the car and refusing to let go he became one to them. Doesn’t make it right, but it didn’t qualify for what I was discussing. I don’t need Google for anything.
I loved the movie.. but the truth is even more fun..bet Darby & Sofia had lots of stories to tell..She should have given permission to use her story..if she wanted it to be accurate.. Interesting how dirty they were.. I mean where could they go to clean up..They were too famous.. Your videos are so great.. I learn stuff and then I get more curious.. what happened to WD?
WD was shot to death in Houston, TX possibly in a drug deal gone bad. He had addiction problems. Google pictures of him later in life, he aged horribly. I always thought young WD was super attractive. But hard living beat him down I guess.
@@MMorbid Thank you for that.. I dated (ran around with) Michael J Pollard in the 70’s..after he did the movie..playing a compilation of the drivers I guess.. met him in Tangiers, Morocco and travel to NJ where he lived with his mom.. she took me to all the “good” bakeries in NY.. both of them were so sweet..
Clyde's mom was named CUMI, pronounced coo mee, not Keemee
Not according to the book I used, it literally gave the pronunciation as Kee-Mee, so that’s what I used. It is, apparently, a Native American name and pronunciation.
@MMorbid interesting. Everyone else is saying it wrong then. Wouldn't be the first time.
That movie totally sucked
Honestly yeah, but to be fair, it’s how I knew about them and got interested in learning the real story.
Good to see you again.
I know, I’m sorry! I prepped a lot for the Louisiana trip. In good news I filmed multiple episodes, some of which won’t take super long to churn out so I hope to make up for it.
@@MMorbid thank you.
