@@MMorbid I am absolutely loving ALL of your Bonnie and Clyde videos‼️ You have REALLY done your homework and have brought their story alive with so much information that's NEVER been heard‼️ AWESOME JOB‼️👍🏻 Thank you ‼️☑️❤️
0:03 My grandfather, James B. Thorpe, was driving the armored car. The first shots from a BAR came from the cabin and penetrated the so-called bullet-proof glass. His Thompson machine gun jammed when a shard of glass lodged in the firing mechanism. The other Jackson County deputy in the passenger seat was wounded but survived. The KC Star/ Times published many articles at the time and the deputies were interviewed extensively. I went to college in Atchison, Kansas and would see the Royal Crown structures as I drove north on 71 Hwy. toward Platte City and 92 Hwy. Interstate I-29 was under construction at the time, 1967-1969. Great research and presentation.
Hey there ❤ I’m from Platte County and recently learned that my neighbors dad was the Dr that operated on Blanches eyes after this shootout! His name was Dr. Silas Durham!
I’m honestly scared to watch it. The last time I saw it I hadn’t done any of this research. Now I know so much I worry I’ll spend the whole time fact checking, lol. I liked it back then, it’s how I initially heard of them.
Just found your channel tonight. Wow! You are Amazing. This series is incredible. I am benge watching All your videos. What a cool perspective. Thanks for the Education, and Entertainment.
Great job as usual. I think the change Blanch was using came from the 3 gas stations they robbed in Fort Dodge Iowa the day before they got to Platte City.
Ya!! And vending machines, and places with slot machines. That's why when they was back home people made sure to tell them they always cleaned out the machines
Very good documentary. In 1985 ,I met prettyboy Floyd's son. He was travelling through New York and stayed at the hotel I was working at. He we talked about his dad and Bonnie and Clyde.
My dad, Grandma, and Dad's family told us all about Bonnie and Clyde. My grandma always said news is lies usually and dad always said never trust the government, be cautious of cops. But i am glad i took up wanting to get to the bottom of it all and find the truths. I only like your stuff because the truth is the best. It's not biased, prejudice, and it's not usually popular😊
I agree with most of your video, but after almost 50 years of reading books and watching videos of B&C, there is one discrepancy; You said that Bonnie got burned from battery acid when Clyde's car flipped over, but from all other sources that I've read, the car burst into flames from the gasoline, and Bonnie got pinned under the burning wreckage. Clyde and W.D. Jones pushed the car over, and got her out, and then they got her to a farm family to help her. The book Bonnie and Clyde, published in 1968 also states that incident as it was.
I remember back in 1993 being at a living history event with the 20Th maine and was talking with a friend about Bonnie and Clyde and he said Kermit, who was our company historian saw them and spoke with some of them. He did not recognize them then but latter when shown photos of them. He worked at slims castle across the street from the red crown, his name was Kermit Crawford, we called him curly. He saw all of them when they arrived and latter that night Blanche came over to pick up some things at their store and the next evening W.D. Jones came in and bought food. He saw the fight and said there was alot of yelling and gunfire. He said there was a man with Blanche which he identified latter was Buck. He saw about all of it. I was suprised when i spoke with him about it. Never thought i would speak with someone who was there. You just never know. Enjoyed this very much, thanks.
Hi! I'm new to your channel. Great job! I'm from the Fort Smith/Van Buren/Alma area, (btw - it's pronounced Al-muh, not All-ma)😁 The Constable that Buck shot in Alma was the grandfather of a gentleman I went to church with, and who was a well known business man in Van Buren. The area where Buck and WD ditched the car they stole immediately after the shoot out, was close to where our family's home would later stand. After ditching the car in the Vista Hills area, Buck and WD walked down the side of the mountain and crossed into Fort Smith via the train bridge. In doing so they walked past the house my father was living in at that time. He was 4 years old at the time. The motor court in Fort Smith where the gang was staying, was still standing till I was in my 20's. My dad remembered the first time the death car was brought through town, and when I was around 10 it was brought through again and I was taken to see it. Love hearing your stories on Bonnie and Clyde.
Thanks for telling me that before I do the episode! I never pronounce anything right, ugh. Thanks for sharing your story. That is awesome! I will be visiting there to not only do Alma, but also the house where Pretty Boy hid out for several months. I’m just not sure when. Welcome to the channel!
Clyde was simply more comfortable with them, they drew far less attention for one thing and were less likely to go wrong. He wasn’t interested in big bucks, he just wanted enough money for basic expenses and to keep moving. Thanks for watching!
There are gangs in cities but not like this, at least not that we hear about. Now if people tried it they’d be caught very quickly. But back then, with no communication between departments, little towns only having a farmer with a part time badge, they kind of had free reign, and took advantage of those law enforcement weaknesses. Lots of gangs did back then, I think that’s what we find fascinating and why we still talk about it. The Depression created such unique circumstances, especially in crime, that we would never see today. Thanks for watching!
Nice work....!! Real nice, the time flow was well done. Not sure where all the details were taken from (All Go Down Together?) but it fell into place. thank you
The information came from lots of places but I did have “Go Down Together” on site. I’m also a big fan of the Bonnie and Clyde Hideout website, the information is accurate and it is invaluable when you are going to the site of any of their shootouts or robberies. It helps me find them and figure out where things were. I also watch documentaries, oral history interviews, etc. I frequently get lost in rabbit holes when I’m doing research! Thanks for watching, I’m glad you enjoyed it!
I’m glad I know this before doing that episode! Someone else tried to explain this in another comment but you have explained it better. Thank you for the information!
My grandma was walking home from school around 1930 a man and woman picked her up and gave her a ride home in seagoville texas. As they were letting her out they said tell your mama clyde and bonnie gave you a ride.Dont know if it really was. They told her it was it was seagoville, very much their stomping grounds, it was time they would be there.
Sounds like something they would do, and Clyde had a big enough ego he liked it if people recognized his name so he would tell people who he was. It’s definitely possible! Thanks for watching!
Wow Great job I got goose bumps ...when you put the two maps together...is that really accurate and how were you able to find out the old Roads matched together with the new ones? ...Many Thanks
Honestly, I just tried it and they lined up. I think it’s accurate, when comparing 60s aerial photos and the names of roads and such, I think lining them up is pretty accurate. Thanks for watching!
The sign for the location of the Tavern says "West of here". Maybe its not under the lake? Just like the Ambush marker is not erected in the spot where the Lawmen took down Bonnie&Clyde? Not sure why officials do that to confuse people
I’m pretty sure in this case it is because it is in the lake. I lined the aerial view up with the Google map so that location must be accurate. The ambush marker is “kind of” in the right place. It’s where the posse stood and started shooting (at least that’s what I understood when at the festival in May.) Do you think it should be where the car rolled to a stop? Just curious.
@MMorbid HA! Very hard to dispute your confidence in the Tavern's loc... cos I see how much WORK you put in each video with your research. Not to beat a dead horse, why didn't the sign say " You are looking in front of you in this lake at what once stood the famous Bonnie & Clyde hideouts" instead say " ...west of here was where Tavern was located.." in which places the Tavern at the far end of the parking lot near the grassy area. By the way, your video of where Clyde stole the Ford V8... was fantastic! How and where did you get all that info?? No clue that home is still extant. Such super and entertaining vid
@MMorbid This had been BUGGING me for 3 days! I watched few documentaries and few youtubers video about the ambush. I'm in the west coast. I don't know Gibsland. But I do know Clyde drove 7miles south from the cafe. I recognize the long straightway from top of the hill to the ambush site. The marker is in erected in the WRONG PLACE!! The lawmen were waiting in the bushes across from the marker. Clyde's death car rolled to the embankment as the same side as the posse...across the road from the marker. This I'm 1000% certain from Hinton's 1934 death car video. To answer your question, that's where I think the officials should place the marker. Not fair to history buffs and morbid folks. Same damn thing in No Carolina...all historic landmarks and actual sites are not the same
It's amazing they kept Blanche along with them as long as they did. She drew more attention they didn't need plus was a whiner in the worst way. Great video well done.
Yes exactly. And you know what was always in the back of my mind a lot of times reading her book? It always seemed like she wanted to stand out, she wanted attention. So the buck would straighten up it really seemed like that. Does any other time throughout the book before they went anywhere with Bonnie and Clyde she was a humble didn't like attention kind of girl. But I don't know she agreed with him on some things, at the same time she contradicts herself a couple times but it does seem like she wanted attention while they were on the run. She may even subconsciously have done it I don't know. But it's like she was intentionally doing it I think because overall she kept begging about to go back home. And then after a little while she enjoyed being out with them it seemed. Then again I need to add also that she wrote this for her own personal sake and at the same time she knew that the CEOs and the guards we're reading her things while they inspected or sell and things like that. So for all we know and I thought this also she probably did that just to make it seem like well that's just how it was. Take it or leave it and j Edgar Hoover was evil to her.
I’ll be visiting there at some point to cover that event. Not sure exactly when. There’s some Pretty Boy locations in Fort Smith too, so that will be a neat trip. Thanks for watching!
We pronounce it Al-ma as in the man's name "Al" muh as in "mu" ther (mother). I'll have to find the plaque location. Not sure where you are in the video. Maybe near the high school and Interstate 40? Pretty Boy Floyd's grave is not far from gere near Muldrow OK. I was taken there once. And I live within walking distance of Hwy 71 N. Interesting tidbits.
Apologies if I made a mistake. I try to be perfect but usually only spend a few weeks researching each topic, things can get missed or misstated. I’ve done a lot of episodes so I don’t specifically remember this detail, but if I said something that wasn’t factual I apologize. The mistake was not intentional.
They are the worst and dumbest criminals ever. I couldn't stop laughing about the change -- and the robbing of gumball machines. LOL. If memory serves me correctly Blanche bought those boots/pants deliberately because she wanted to be able to have an outfit she can run easily in. She didn't quite think it through, as to how it would look to regular people.
Me imagino que tanto Bonnie como Clide nunca se imaginaron que Hiban a ser tal célebres, y tan famosos a los mas de los 90 años, después de su cruel ejecución

You are actually incorrect as to the exact location. It would seem that the road has been re routed several times. It is actually further to the right and more towards the freeway. History hunters youtube explains this in detail. Thanks!
Clyde wouldn’t have been taken alive or would have gotten the chair. But I think Bonnie would have survived, done a little time like Blanche, and had a life. That’s not what happened though, such is life.
It was a fire. Not battery acid. How do I know. I have the eye witness account from the 2 people that were sitting on the porch. It was Mr Prichard the home owner and his son.
