My Mom knew Floyd, Clyde, and Clydes parents. When we were cleaning out her house I found several letters from Mr. And Mrs. Hamilton. I also have Floyds paperback editors copy book.

Thank you.... yes, it is good to hear from actual eyewitnesses who were involved, but people now who were not even alive back then will argue about something they know nothing about, I will always believe those who were there before those who were not even born yet....lol

They used more traditional proper American English language and very little slang.

People spoke so differently from that era, why?

+gdcat777 ....even the lower ranks of society had a better education. If you had a ninth grade education, you would be equivalent to a 2 yr degree today

The educational competency for an "eighth grade graduate" was higher than anyone's college graduate level today. If you speak with an eighth grade vocabulary, you're going to make college graduates look stupid (and they are compared to the equivalent knowledge and competence of an eighth grader from that period thru the 1950s). In the 1970s, technical manuals were written on a sixth grade level; newspapers were on a sixth grade vocabulary level. What you read in todays TIME magazine, todays newspapers, and on the internet are low vocabulary levels. It disgusts me to hear the grammar & vocabulary of today's youth. As a former teacher and psychometrist, I state today's American youth, and for the last 30 years, are the most propagandized, under-educated, poorly-read, intellectually-lazy group alive. Inert in thought - waiting for someone to tell them what, how, why...never seeking for themselves and accepting the shallow, biased internet data as truth.
