So, this game about a short dude with a shovel; it's really damn fun. What's more is that the music - composed by Jake Kaufman (virt) - is one of the best parts of the overall experience in my opinion. When I first started this medley about 2 weeks ago I kind of figured it'd be pretty easy compared to my last medley, since I've always been able to easily decipher chiptune in the past. I thought I'd have it out in a week. Ha.
Let me tell you: Jake is a beast composer. Sounds easy? Looks easy? It's fucking not. This is one of the most difficult things I've had to transcribe and learn on guitar, and that includes beating out tracks by Between the Buried and Me, Dream Theater, and Protest the Hero. It's not the heaviest nor the shreddiest thing I've learned, but goddamn is it dense.
Anyway, the game itself is really fun and my favorite of 2014 thusfar, beating out the likes of Dark Souls 2. You should go check it out because it's a fantastic game with a mind-bogglingly good soundtrack. Yeah I know, some of the takes are blurry. I just wanted to be done with this ;____;

People these days nit picking about what people label fast electric guitar music. Just enjoy it and let others enjoy it. Genre is largely subjective to what other kind of music you listen to.
i think it fits so well due to the nicely done inspiration in megaman, not only to achieve a gameplay that (while it wasnt the same, it give you a tiny vibe of megaman and you could notice the references and inspiration) was similar to megaman, but also manage to make the OST a really good one to make rock covers about.

This hits hard dude! La Danse Macabre has such a nice sound to it, and it contrasts nicely with the preceding songs while setting up the next one so smoothly. I haven't heard of this game, but it sounds like the music alone makes it worth it! Sweet medley man, I commend you.
Thanks man! The game is definitely great alongside the soundtrack, I would recommend looking into it if you have a penchant for classic NES games. I tried to make the transitions between tracks a bit more fluid and organic this time, as a common complaint I heard about my X&Y medley was that the transitions seemed forced. Glad to hear it sounds better!
RichaadEB Well in the field of transitions, you're doing a fantastic job dude. In my case, I've been working on making my arrangements more immersive (is that a word?) and atmospheric, which I really focused on in my newest upload. I definitely tried tapping into your stuff, because you're great at that. Also that Tele dude!

My 6 year old son and me play shovel knight. At first I was showing him all the tricks and now his on his way to earning the Platinum and I haven't even finished it . We just found this song and his eyes lit up and started dancing . Great job this was pretty awesome
Don't think for a second this wasn't worth it, it just flowed so well and you kept me in it the whole time. And I've not touched this game yet. Freaking A+, and the shovel was just cherry on top.

Yeeeeessss. Shovel Knight! :D I was wondering when someone would do a medley of this game, but I dont think anyone could've pulled it of better than you man. This was frikken sweat. In the Halls of the Usurper (That's my fav) on it's own is already a fantastic song and you know I like it Metalized so this was magnificent. Transitions were smooth, playing badass like always. Not much to say. Keep it up man.

Lineation Nope. Closest we have is 2015 for Plague of Shadows. But its confirmed King Knight and Specter Knight will have their own campaign.

A request: would you consider turning The Starlit Wilds bit into a full song? The song is great in game, but I really enjoyed the solo work you added into it. Very soothing and melodic. I need more of that same so I can listen to it more on my own time, in the car or at work.

Given the nostalgic nature of the game, this was inevitable, necessary, and very much appreciated- not to mention maybe one of the best things ever recorded in an audio file.

This might seriously be one of the best metal covers of a video game soundtrack I've ever heard.
It helps the original tracks are amazing to begin with. But what you did was take some amazing and made it skyrocket to the goddamn moon.
