He did his duty as a father without any regret and it was just perfect airing it in father's day. I guess you people are too used to easy lives, there are still fathers dying while protecting their children all over the world. Ukraine or Gaza? And many many more places or incidents but ofc real fathers do that while some others might run in front of their children..

He was able to see rudy survived, and the hydra was defeated and he smiled before finally fying and the blood dripped down his face. This shows that Paul was content that they suceeded, even at the cost of his own life. He always seemed reckless to the point where he was willing to die if it would save zenith
Ever since I saw this last episode, I’ve been on the verge of crying thinking about Paul’s death several times without ever quite having tears streaming down my face. Less than a minute into this audio clip, I started sobbing and had to pause the video and come back later. It hurts, but this was just the thing my emotions needed to tip over the edge. Thanks for sharing this. Paul definitely had some major faults, but I have no shame in saying that I - overall - view him as an amazing guy.
I literally just watched this episode. I can't believe this happened. There have been a lot of lows in the story, but nothing even close to as low as this. I was hoping so hard that they'd save Zenith and all get out alive. I can describe the feeling other than gut wrenching when this scene happens and you see Paul in the background blurred a bit, but you can tell there is a lot of blood. He didn't get his final words which was so surprising. It so tragic that he didn't get to give his final farewell. He only go to smile for Rudy. This is for sure one of my top episodes of anime ever. I also really enjoyed the fight with the hydra where everyone is preforming their task without skipping a beat and taking it down. I am simply let in awe
Yeah, Tony "I am Ironman" Stark's best friend's face suddenly appears at the end of the episode. Who would have thought that Warmachine's face perfectly encapsulates the raw emotions and the entire depth of the episode as a whole in one a single frame picture of his face. Ironheart definitely couldn't have pulled it off and if Ironman did it, it would have been too much for us to bare. Warmachine was the perfect choice. You receive One Dennis out of ten Denji's from Chainsaw Man for this comment, may the Goddess of Wisdom Roxy have mercy on your soul.
Part of me wishes this was in the actual anime cos of how emotional it is but at the same time, the way it's shown in the anime is such a gut punch as well. It would be nice if they could incorporate this dialogue into the show somehow but it might drag the moment too much.
You know, I actually saw my own father in Paul a lot... I've even seen a lot of events similar to ones he had... So when this happened in the novel, it stuck with me. Even more than the tragedies of TP4, this single death was always there in the back of my mind, and while reading about Rudy talking to Paul's grave I could stop thinking if this is going to be how I think of my dad after he eventually passed away... It's a damn good novel, tell you that.
They should have added this instead of rushing it to show Zenith condition. Not only that but they didn’t show the time it took 3 days to leave the dungeon and those 3 days Rudeus kept stepping on the traps but nobody blamed him.

i think that the smile in the anime conveyed what that entire monologue did in the cd drama. like that gave it more of a time to let it settle in that a character rather close to the mc just died, that silence that was there with rudy trying to comprehend we feel that with him, it gives that atmosphere of the pure haunt rudy is feeling. Nothing wrong with the cd drama's monologue both r good in their own way, the cd drama gives Paul's pov n the anime gives more so Rudy's pov

I watched the finale for Jiisan Baasan today at work worst of all and Im still not over how bittersweet it is and yesterday there was Paul and I watched this clip yesterday and today again two days of grief is too much
In the anime episode they should have added Paul's inner monologue when he was dying but they didn't do so which was a little bit disappointing because that would have made that scene way more better but oh well what can you do anime adaptations are not always going to be 100% faithful to the source material or they're just not able to cover all the content.

I've never seen an anime make a fight so thrilling and yet also unrewarding - or rather, turn a fight that had already been exhilarating and pleasing to watch into a bitter result. Both the audience and the chatacters weren't allowed to take any satisfaction whatsoever from it. I won't blame Rudy if he says it was all for nothing. It does feel like it really wasn't worth it. My only grudge is that a great character departed from the story witbout having much screentimw if you think about it. And that's from someone who knew he was going to die, just not how, so I thought he would at least die after the boss
On Sunday, Paul battled like a true warrior with all hit might all the way to the end. To help the family, he holds dear rest in peace, Paul you did your family proud! Rudy reminds me of myself when I saw my dad take his last breath, which was heartbreaking. Just like rudy and Paul made me tear up a bit
Bro I am in shambles, I’m like extremely happy and sad about this episode. I’m not a LN reader so I definitely didnt see this coming maybe I was just too into the moment, the animation, the flow of the episode etc. As soon as I saw him save Rudy, I knew immediately something was wrong and you could see Paul in the hydra’s mouth for a second. This is why this isekai is my favorite, I love and hate that feeling of I have no idea what’s about to happen. I haven’t listened to that cut content audio yet, I literally turned chibi and the video down to write this because I almost don’t know if I want to, like apart of me is okay with just seeing him smile because it told me enough. That smile told me that Paul is thinking about the fact that he may have failed in Saving zenith but is relieved that he at least saved Rudy, his son and that he knows he will succeed. I’m very contempt with that head canon but for the sake of the video and supporting the boy I think I might listen with chibi. I gotta watch that episode like 4 more times first tho.
The most brilliant thing about Mushoku is how the Author makes the characters feel like actual people. his writing skill is actually quite absurd. I really hope he finishes up this weird Orc LN idea of his soon so he can go back to writing in this verse

on how the show is structured I think there is a chance this might be aired next episode because so many times stuff happened in an episode and they were done with that but the next one showed some scenes from a different perspective
Most say Paul was a very flawed person. I say he was very average in that area. Most of us are far worse. He was essentially good, an incredible fighter and ultimately a good father. This confirms that. I knew that smile at the end was from him seeing his son alive.

II know this is not gonna happen, but I really wish they started the next episode with this scene, and structured the episode as follows(**Theres spoilers in this one**): 1. Cd drama paul pov by reusing some of the last scenes and drawing some from paul's perspective. 2. The traditional style op but the way they did the paul development 4 minute op, but the first minute showing rudeus devastated, roxy, lilia and others outside talking. 3. Norn and cliff interactions in the next 3 minutes of the opening(with subtle dialogues). 4. Then we start with some depression concerning zenith. 5. The roxy scene
One day we get Paul's goodbye and the next day we finally get to the part in "Ascendance of a bookworm" where Ferdinand finally lays his heart bare to the MC.
i kthink this airing on fathers day is perfect. because i'm sure all the good fathers if they had to would do the same as paul. they would have no regrets doing this for their kids. and no fathers day present is more warranted than saving your child.
I’ve been listening to the audiobooks for the last week so this scenes seems so long ago. I’m just annoyed that I have to wait until October to get the final volume, at least Seven Seas is releasing 2 per month, if they were only doing 1 per month or 1 every other month like they do with manga I think I’d lose it.
Paul: "Rudy, I can't feel my legs." Tbh I think that Paul is a great example of a dad, even tho he mad a lot of mistakes he always proved that loved his family and that he wud die for them without a second thought.
Paul Greyrat made a lot of mistakes, had flaws and regrets, and yet as a character, as a person, he is probably one of the greatest characters in the show and a father that, even if not perfect, always did the best he could and always put his family first. RIP Paul Greyrat
Hitogami did warn him there will be regrets. If he did not went Roxxy would have died, but Paul likely alive, Zenith still crystalized. He went, Roxxy lived, Paul died, Zenith freed. The lesson pretty obvious... either way, life gives you regrets. There is no Disney route where everyone is happy.
Look I get that this was a pivoting episode and an area to provide character growth hurdle for our main protagonist, but I feel like Rudy should have been way freaking better in this fight. With his demon eye he should be able to see most things coming to him and he has been in previous battles where he has faced worse foes that are equally as deadly. Why does he freeze or get confused so freaking often that his dad needs to kick him out of danger not once but twice. How? How is he not seeing what’s coming and how is he not instantly burning the sliced off heads as soon as his framing eye sees that his father would be successful in cutting the heads off. He should see it moments before it happens and should be able to pinpoint where to use his flame magic to burn the growth possibility of the heads. All of that he is capable of and he could have saved his father from have to save his own life. He can summon a water wall strong enough to stop a 3 headed direct shot breath of fire. Yet he can’t summon a the strength to ensure his foresight is on point as to not be a burden for others. I loved this scene but the only gut punch of the chapter or episode should have been his mother’s reveal. And that should have broke his father and in turn that’s how he loses both Parents. Fathers grief and mothers loss of inner thought.
Rudy in the old CD kinda sounds a bit like Zenitsu ngl. But Paul's pretty selfless. He's mostly thinking of others. His family. He's such a great character. He's very flawed, but still great. I love they didn't give him any parting words. You don't always get those (sometimes you do, even if it's cliche). HTTYD 2 did that as well with Stoic.
the point of the scene and the plot is we dont know. paul may have had alot to say, paul could have wanted to see him grow and see if his small romance would grow but in the end... all he cared about was that he managed to save his son. the monster was defeated so in those few moments he probably though "good, hes safe. he can go home". paul could have wanted to save alot of things.. but thats probably the only thing he was thinking about.
His only regret was probably not hearing Zeniths voice one last time.
It was revealed in the light novel that he died having no regrets

Ofc he was going to talk about Roxy. He didn't in the dungeon because he knew it would make Rudy too excited as he was completely clueless about how Roxy liked him. 'A grown man' same as everybody else in the party can't see others can see, Rudy supposed to be even older than Paul if you ridiculously accept him as a grown man ofc. He is just a kid or more accurately a teen anymore with some extra memories..

Most say Paul was a very flawed person. I say he was very average in that area. Most of us are far worse. He was essentially good, an incredible fighter and ultimately a good father. This confirms that.
I knew that smile at the end was from him seeing his son alive.

i dont cry whatching anything , i only cry 3 times on my life 1 hachiko the dog when i was 6 yo, lee death on twd game 14 yo , and pauls death 24 years old , soy this hit me alot , i dont read the novel /manga , becouse i know its good and i dont wana get spoiled becouse the anime its an exelent adaptation , and becouse im anime only this hit me alot harder than other similar moments on anime , and hit me alot more becouse my real father on fathers day dude realy .... realy =(, soo this its is peak content and writing and there is a 4th time i cry , just by lisen the exelent voice actin of hes last mometnts ...... it hist hard dude it realy does, ecxelent video chibi , go for the 500k
II know this is not gonna happen, but I really wish they started the next episode with this scene, and structured the episode as follows(**Theres spoilers in this one**):
1. Cd drama paul pov by reusing some of the last scenes and drawing some from paul's perspective.
2. The traditional style op but the way they did the paul development 4 minute op, but the first minute showing rudeus devastated, roxy, lilia and others outside talking.
3. Norn and cliff interactions in the next 3 minutes of the opening(with subtle dialogues).
4. Then we start with some depression concerning zenith.
5. The roxy scene
One day we get Paul's goodbye and the next day we finally get to the part in "Ascendance of a bookworm" where Ferdinand finally lays his heart bare to the MC.

i kthink this airing on fathers day is perfect. because i'm sure all the good fathers if they had to would do the same as paul. they would have no regrets doing this for their kids. and no fathers day present is more warranted than saving your child.

I’ve been listening to the audiobooks for the last week so this scenes seems so long ago. I’m just annoyed that I have to wait until October to get the final volume, at least Seven Seas is releasing 2 per month, if they were only doing 1 per month or 1 every other month like they do with manga I think I’d lose it.

Paul Greyrat made a lot of mistakes, had flaws and regrets, and yet as a character, as a person, he is probably one of the greatest characters in the show and a father that, even if not perfect, always did the best he could and always put his family first. RIP Paul Greyrat

Hitogami did warn him there will be regrets. If he did not went Roxxy would have died, but Paul likely alive, Zenith still crystalized. He went, Roxxy lived, Paul died, Zenith freed. The lesson pretty obvious... either way, life gives you regrets. There is no Disney route where everyone is happy.
Look I get that this was a pivoting episode and an area to provide character growth hurdle for our main protagonist, but I feel like Rudy should have been way freaking better in this fight.
With his demon eye he should be able to see most things coming to him and he has been in previous battles where he has faced worse foes that are equally as deadly.
Why does he freeze or get confused so freaking often that his dad needs to kick him out of danger not once but twice. How? How is he not seeing what’s coming and how is he not instantly burning the sliced off heads as soon as his framing eye sees that his father would be successful in cutting the heads off. He should see it moments before it happens and should be able to pinpoint where to use his flame magic to burn the growth possibility of the heads.
All of that he is capable of and he could have saved his father from have to save his own life. He can summon a water wall strong enough to stop a 3 headed direct shot breath of fire. Yet he can’t summon a the strength to ensure his foresight is on point as to not be a burden for others.
I loved this scene but the only gut punch of the chapter or episode should have been his mother’s reveal. And that should have broke his father and in turn that’s how he loses both Parents. Fathers grief and mothers loss of inner thought.
Rudy can only have a small bit of happiness before getting it ripped away again. This show is brutal
Rudy in the old CD kinda sounds a bit like Zenitsu ngl. But Paul's pretty selfless. He's mostly thinking of others. His family. He's such a great character. He's very flawed, but still great. I love they didn't give him any parting words. You don't always get those (sometimes you do, even if it's cliche). HTTYD 2 did that as well with Stoic.
This would have hit me harder if I didn't despise Rudy so much. My "I wish Paul didn't die" reaction got overshadowed by "I wish he didn't save Rudy"

the point of the scene and the plot is we dont know. paul may have had alot to say, paul could have wanted to see him grow and see if his small romance would grow but in the end... all he cared about was that he managed to save his son. the monster was defeated so in those few moments he probably though "good, hes safe. he can go home". paul could have wanted to save alot of things.. but thats probably the only thing he was thinking about.
