    I brushed my entire bracelet, what an improvement! Now it looks like a real "Rolex" sports-watch.

    Great job. That GMT bracelet is a scratch magnet. Loved your manual approach on the case. The way to go. Most grind off the edges with some mops and wheels. Keep it up!

    What attachment on that dremel style tool do you use on the tops of the lugs and the brushed parts of the bracelet?

    Great video, I have a 2017 version, I have this weird discoloration of the inside of the crystal, in the middle, that you can only see at certain angles or light. Could this be issues with the anti-reflective coating? At first I thought it was condensation but its not. Any experience with something similar?

    • @Vintwatches
      @Vintwatches  ปีที่แล้ว

      It could be a damaged anti reflection coating damage.

    Wow, it seems like new! I'm sure you've also changed all the rubber gaskets, even if it seems that you've taken the used ones out from the box where they've been previously stored with the movement. :-) Great work! Thank you for sharing.

    I have a GMT Master “Coke” Stainless, I purchased new in 2002 for $3800, still have original Tourneau receipt, have never had it serviced, but gotta bite the bullet and take it in. Stops after 1 day of no wear, definitely needs a new mainspring, feels all gummed up. I replaced some pins, minor stretch (oyster bracelet), and 1 scratch on the bezel, otherwise great condition, would like it restored to new look, only authorized Rolex though, don’t want any non Rolex parts, even down to spring bars. I have a feeling gonna be $2000 to do this.

      I agree! Only Rolex will touch my Submariner.
      It may be pricey, but it will be done to Rolex standards. You get what you pay for.

      I've just had my gmt master II gold/steel 2002 fully Rolex refurbished , I had not taken it off my wrist for 20 years literally. Bracelet was shot had new fitted, full case refurb new crystal new gold bezel and insert new dial new hands full service and regulating and new extra link . I have just got it back in a new green leather pouch, latest new lubes now mean 10 years between services warrantee on the rebuild too, all for £5100 much cheaper than a new one but it is my watch but brand new again also 8 weeks with Rolex Kent UK as opposed to 4 years wait for new one....if I was lucky. win win I think.

    Looks good but that destroys the originality of the watch 1 polish is fine I guess but 2nd or a 3rd can really take the metal

    • @henz993
      @henz993 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your are right. Don't do the polishing. Just leave the metal of the case. By the time goes, the scratch makes unique value like a vintage.

    So your are not working for a Rolex AD or RSC correct? How much do you charge to polis a stainless sports watch? I have the Air King Reference #116900, would you polish a watch for someone like my self? If so can you give a ball park idea or range for polishing?

    Camera should be so close that we will be able to see exactly what you are doing. While polishing please show the part intermittently, to what level it has come, so we can understand perfectly.

    Heavy signs of wear? You should see my GMT Master II. I've had mine for 11 years. I turned it in for service and it hasn't run the same since. It will run for 3 days with continuous wear and it stops. I wind it, reset it and in three days of continuous wear it stops. I took it back in, they put it on a watch winder and said it was good. This time after 6 days of continuous wear, guess what, it stopped again. So I took it back yesterday. The story they think I'm going to swallow is, "well with the watches age you can expect it to need winding once per week". BS! Rolex says if it is on your wrist it should never need winding. When I wear this watch I do not take it off except to change the date or change to another watch.

      I do not have a Rolex, but when he said "heavy signs of wear" I almost started laughing. Sucks that you can't get your fixed correctly.

      Mine is 14 years old, heavy wear and haven't taken it to service, keeps time perfecto, so I guess no need to open it up.

    • @Orwic1
      @Orwic1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve had several Rolexes. If you wear them continuously, then they should never need winding. I have one I bought about 20 years ago. It has been serviced routinely every 7 years or so (it’s a diver’s watch, so ensuring waterproofness is a high priority). Apart from when I set it after a period of non-use it’s never been wound. It keeps very good time, gaining slightly. I always get mine serviced by Rolex, by the way, not an independent watchmaker. I got my first Rolex in 1970, and apart from routine service, that never needed winding either. I suspect you have a faulty mainspring assembly.

      I had the exact same experience. I took it as an insult when the Rolex center said I'm "probably not moving enough". I wear my watch jogging and it still stopped.

    I wanted to comment about using fabric gloves while using a high RPM tool such as a buffer. I have seen someone lose an arm up to their elbow as a result of the machine wheel grabbing a fabric glove. I would just warn you about using gloves with machine tools.

    That’s a professional polish! Very good. Unfortunately with any kind of polish, no matter how good they are, the watch will differ from the original. Particularly the edges of the watch and clasp are supposed to be sharp when they come from Rolex, after a polish they’ll be more rounded and anyone that knows will be able to tell immediately if it comes time to sell.
