    Brilliant as usual. Extremely valuable and helpful for a complete Melodyne beginners like me. Thank you ever so kindly, especially to the artists for being willing to be humble, confident, and gracious enough to let us learn from your raw takes!

    Hello Warren!I've been using Melodyne for years and have to say an amazing tool just got better. I upgraded to version 4, Studio several months ago and am having a blast. Carlo's explanation and tips helped me better understand what I've been exploring in the Sound Editor. Btw, my old friend Brian Anderson told me you guys used to work together. What a small world! Thanks for all you do. :)

    Hi friends At Winter NAMM this year I hung out with one of the designers of Melodyne at the Celemony Booth and he showed me the new Sound Editing capabilities the software has. Many of you asked to go into this in more detail, so I spoke to Carlo Libertini who first introduced me to Melodyne and he has very kindly made a video showing us how to use Melodyne’s new features! Please leave comments, share and ask questions and we can get Carlo to respond! Thanks for watching and have a marvellous time recording and mixing! Many thanks Warren

    I just upgraded to Melodyne Studio 4. Thank you very much for the intuitive walkthrough of the basics of it! I really wish that the Melodyne Bridge was still a supported plugin in 64 bit, as I really liked the way that connected my daw to melodyne. I know rewire works just fine, but I really got used to how the bridge worked between 2 programs, and I feel like I'm spending more time with my setup now instead of being creative. Just my 2 cents.

    • @CarloLibertini
      @CarloLibertini 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You know, I too missed the Melodyne Bridge function. Actually I preferred it over ReWire personally. But, like most things in major upgrades, somethings come and go. I do hope that the program now makes up for that particular feature in many other ways, and you expand your creativity! Thanks for reaching out and best regards!

    Melodyne 4 is amazing. I'm learning Editor myself among other things. Great video. There is so many new approaches to refining sound aside from just pitch correction that when your various other plugin aren't quite getting it right you can go in surgically with Melodyne.

      I agree. Pitch editing probably made Melodyne famous, however, once your in the Rabbit Hole the sky is the limit. Also, as I mention in the video "a little goes a long way". Surgical edits are often all you need whether it's pitch, timing or even tone, thanks now to the Sound Editor featured here. Glad you enjoyed this brief introduction to it-

  • @LesonDeson
    @LesonDeson 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Doing vocal editing a lot (for myself and others) I jumped on Studio 4 cause of the multi track feature. Also the polyphonic shaping is pretty useless for most of us and it doesn't sound that good. I've only used it on one vocal FX track since the release. I would have preferred Celemony to improve the pitch editing and timing matching. Cause Studio is 699€, it's quiet a lot for just that multi-track feature vocal editors are using.
    (Also I love my Melodyne most of the time :) )

    • @monteirosfusion
      @monteirosfusion 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't think its even fair to compare Logic's Flex Pitch to Melodyne. I do use Logic which is outstanding with Midi. Melodyne is truly a beast perched on its own plateau and looking down at the rest. It should be on every track, StudioOne integration makes that super easy.

    • @sansocie
      @sansocie 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      nice to hear it sits tight in StudioOne. Working on room before gear .....so still on fence with a DAW. Was an old Adobe Audition use BEFORE Adobe grabbed it up.

    • @monteirosfusion
      @monteirosfusion 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      wow, yeah I also used Adobe Audition, and even if I recall its predecessor Cool Edit Pro, by Syntrillium ? Melodyne integration is totally tight, no transfer, drag drop melodyne tempo map to S1 tempo track, much more, also more efficient I believe due to the use of ARA i.e. instead of VST/AUs etc, they give you a month trial period btw. Good luck with room

    Hey Warren, thanks for all your great videos and podcasts. I'm a big fan. I like how you make me think about diffent recording-ideers and stuff to try out :) I would really like it, if you could talk about, how to deal with a track after it's mastered. I'm thinking about, how to insert isrc codes and which format it should be bounced in, when sendt to cd print or itunes. So basicly, the very last steps before a track can be released into the world. Thanks again, and keep up the good work :) Greetings from Denmark

    Hey warren I love your content and it's great to get advise from a top producer and to see you playing around with different plug ins and to see what you do. I was wondering if I could get your opinion on what you think of garage band and Logic Pro x. I'm currently doing some basic home recording on garage band using my guitar and bass with a mixture of the plugins and my own amp sounds but I was wondering if you think it's worth me going onto Logic Pro or to stay on garage. I will soon be starting university on a production course and I don't want to feel like I'm being worse off by using garage band. Keep up the good work!

    • @Producelikeapro
      @Producelikeapro  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Aiden, thanks for your wonderful comment! I'm so glad to be able to help! I am torn, because I strongly believe that making music on the DAW you know best is the right solution, however I do know that Logic comes with a wonderful selection of Virtual instruments etc. My question would be this, what is it about Garageband that makes you think you can't make great music? Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren

    Very cool video Warren. Girl in the song sounds like Cyndi Lauper (spl?)
    I have an unrelated question that if you don't know perhaps somebody else here might have an answer.
    Just now bought the Izotope "Nectar" Vocal Suite Plugin. It has a "Melodyne" plug included, but since I'm totally new to Melodyne and have never used it, does anyone know which version of Melodyne it is and how much of this new version is included?
    Reason I'm asking is that the Nectar Suite is good for other instrument applications besides vocals. Finger picking acoustic guitar for one. I'm not the best finger picker in the first place, and usually do flat picking. So I can use Melodyne often for adjusting incorrect string notes in a finger picking guitar phrase.
    Any advice on either/or the included Melodyne in the Nectar Software as well as the Nectar software itself would be welcome.
    Y'all have a Bodacious Day now...y'ah hea? (country talk from a city boy.) :-P
    Marty

    • @Producelikeapro
      @Producelikeapro  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Martin, thanks for your great comment! That's not one of my artists, Carlo will have to let us know more about that! I can't answer your Nectar/Melodyne Plug In question unfortunately! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing! Many thanks Warren

    • @CarloLibertini
      @CarloLibertini 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Martin, first, thank you. I hope your a big Cyndi Lauper fan! The artist is a very talented and lovely girl. Not to mention hard working too. www.reverbnation.com/suziehatton for more info. Now, about your question... Melodyne is not included with Nectar. I too have iZotope Nectar and love to application for many reasons. Nectar incorporates a similar function as Melodyne. Yet Melodyne in and of its self is a far more different program. I would recommend trying Nectar's pitch editing for your work first since you've made the investment. And consider a introductory version of Melodyne to get started in the future. Best!
