    I have the 2007, K12 Micra Chic 1.2, 5 door in a very pretty water fall green. I believe she was originally part of the Nissan breast cancer campaign.
    She's a fabulous little runner with more poke than I expected. She's super cheap to run, not to mention reliable with lots of room. She also has the added bonus of air conditioning. It was a real surprise how much fun she is to drive after years of driving a bigger car. ☺️

    Very nippy around town and really frugal.

    £500 ?? These are now going for £2500 as of May 2022 but otherwise thanks for the video although some further tech info would have been helpful.
    We've had two K13 3 cylinder series Micra's from the 2013 era where road tax continues to be just £30 per year and mileage a genuine 55mpg on a good run. Lack of power catches me out sometimes, which can be dangerous, but as for an all round vehicle it is excellent as it tours very well (we've been around France and UK distances with ease and comfort. Rear seats pop out with just two bolts if you really needed that extra space for two people touring. ) Cruises at 70mph with easy revs (3500 rpm I think?). Tiny turning circle too. I've always described them as being the 'little big car'.

    I was using my 1990 t25 1.9 petrol camper as a daily driver an so I was basically pouring petrol out the window! So I bought a 2004 5 door 1.2 with 69000 miles for £800 and it’s cheaper for me to run this with tax and insurance and still insure and tax my camper than to run the camper alone! It’s runs at about 3300 rpm at 65-70 so a bit frantic but you get used to it.

    Gotta disagree about this one. My family had multiple 1st and 2nd gen Micras from the 1980’s to the 2000’s. Brilliant reliable little cars. But after Nissan’s forced merger with Renault in 1999 in the wake of the Asian currency crisis, it was with trepidation that I test drove the K12 micra. First thing I noticed was the way the exterior door handle slopped around from left to right. The seats felt like you were sitting on a cheap lumpy MFI sofa. Yup - Renault had turned our beloved Japanese supermini into another cheap Euro box. A downgrade from the K11 in virtually every aspect. Fortunately we managed to pick-up one of the last K11 Micras before transitioning to the Hyundai i10.

    • @JJonCars
      @JJonCars  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You can definitely see some of Renaults 'influence' in the car. They're not quite the same as they were but these K12s are still reliable well built cars

    Not to mention the adjustable boot space by means of a sliding rear seat sqwab , done from a handle on the bottom of rear seat in the boot ,
    The adjustable drivers sqwab is a blessing also,

    ** pls read if your buying a micra **
    I wouldn’t say it’s very reliable. Mechanically it is a reliable car. Engine, trans, brakes, suspension etc are all fine. But the electronics really let it down and it all comes from Renault. The electronic power steering is a very common part that fails, a ‘PS’ light comes on the dashboard and it is a very very expensive repair. The EPS is linked to the ECU and a 2nd hand part won’t work unless a computer is involved. Also sometimes people are able to reset the EPS using a computer and this sometimes can get it working for a short amount of time. So be aware of this. AC compressor commonly fails too. Then there’s other electric parts like the boot lock switch and buttons around the dash that just break over time. Seals tend to perish too and water can leak in. Not really from typical rainfall but definitely from going into a car wash, water will find its way in through the roof.
    All the doors have buttons on them and they aren’t sealed properly so they often have water ingress and this causes electronic failure. This is why the boot fails and your left with a car boot door that cannot open, making it useless.
    Just make sure you check the electronics thoroughly.

    • @JJonCars
      @JJonCars  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the info Tawer. I've not heard too many horror stories about these Micras myself - I usually hear stories of good reliability. But it certainly can't hurt when looking for one to check all the electrics like you say.

      Mine 2006, from 174 to 202tkm in ten months, nothing wrong with electris -or else. Clima ok, serviced as must. The back open button is changed in 2018 as told, common I would say. When you service this little runner, its very reliable choice with cheapness.

    • @tawermeister99
      @tawermeister99 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JJonCars yes generally speaking the mechanics on these cars are excellent and your right. For the price it’s a hard bargain to turn down. But the electronics can let it down. Seems as though a great deal of the electronics come from Renault. Which goes some way to explaining all those electronic gremlins.

    • @shepherdmitchell5627
      @shepherdmitchell5627 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The Renault should never own any cars as they are not good with electronics and mess up the quality. Japanese and German cars should stay within themselves original and never trust France with the cars. French cars are known for being unreliable and costs bare money to get these issues fixed. I bought a Peugeot 2 years Go and it given me bare problems, mans not gonna bought deez tings again. Big up Japanese cars

I've chosen to restore mine with mostly Nissan parts (Which are notoriously expensive), but I love the Nissan Micra, it is worth it to me :) I'm glad you appear to enjoy the Micra too! Only issue I have faced is the spark plugs are EXPENSIVE due to the way this car was engineered. If you need to replace the clutch, go for a Valeo or LuK set. Around £120-£140 for the elite clutches for this model, but the driving experience is smooooth and if you can change that clutch or plugs DIY, then you will save a lot of money on an amazing car!

    Got given my micra at 35k miles after a death in the family. Beggars cant be choosers I thought. But I too noticed the headlights help with depth perception for the size of the car. The car goes like a little go cart, sticks to the road, lovely to drive. Wouldn't change it for the world, only 44k miles now think it will go on forever at the miles I do yearly. My car goes burt when it locks too, thats why I named him Burt. Oh, the only thing the bugger does do is he likes to open the boot by himself when it rains, when driving along. Well, this comment might shock you.. I bought the Nisan Micra K12 (they are branded as Nissan March here in Kenya), because I really wanted a car and I didn't have much money. I think its the situation where you end up choosing a car because of how much you have.... The first time I drove it (I wasn't a good driver) it felt just basic.... But after cleaning the air intake, suddenly, everything changed. I don't know what Nissan did that makes the Micra K12 super fast, and very reliable... Or is it just my micra?? That little bug mooves... i travel home every month, like 370 miles, and I use 6 hours to get there in my K12 Micra.... Its got 240K miles on the odometer and yet it idles silently, revs nicely and runs like its got boost. Every one around me ended up adoring this car. I hope to give it to my son one day.

    According to my insurance broker, the K12 Micra is a high end car. I asked them why my premium keeps going up despite my 20 plus years No Claims. The man replied that it's because in my area there's a problem with luxury and high end cars being stolen to order, making my 2003 Micra Automatic a high risk apparently.
