I've owned the Astra K for just over a year. It's a fantastic car, but the lights are a major downside. Once it gets dark, the headlights are borderline useless. From what I've researched, there's really nothing I can do about it. 😭

Got rid of mine earlier this year at 440k miles … Didn’t skip a beat even tho she needed a new turbo. Would love to get my hands on an example this clean

Just avoid the diesel. Dpf filters ruined a great car

I brought a 9-3 this and the problem I've got is badly corroded rear subframe frame on a 2011.

Had a 1.8t v20 2002 for 14 years now passed its mot again yesterday no problems got 130k on it and only things and done on it over the years is both front coils spring broke but apart from that it just keeps going

Yes I own one. Yes high miles. Yes it's a diesel. And yes the only thing doesn't work is the (aftermarket) touch screen in the head unit that's probably 10 years younger than the car.

Great review, what an underrated car this is. I have an S60 T6 R design AWD myself which is my second Volvo, and it's sooo much fun and ideal for cruising (+ you don't see them so much especially in France)

I love driving this clk240avantgarde. It had a few warning lights and I was telling myself to pass on it. But then I had to take it for a test drive and I was hooked on it

Hi there JJ, your MPG estimates are pretty spot on, around town it'll do 18-20mpg and on a longer motorway run like Coventry-Manchester it did 29mpg several times for me. About reliability though, not the mileage, but the age is becoming a problem here - especially the 20+ year old rubber. If you get one with still original seals, orings and gaskets, those start to give up causing issues like coolant mixing with oil, low oil pressure or leaks from about every possible side of the engine. Other than that though, definitely the best car for the money!

Some 15 years ago - we had an Audi TT Mark1. Looks so much better than the Mk2 that other friends drove. We loved it so much but the mummy driver was pregnant so the suspension was too hard... so we let it go. What was a hoot was putting in our two small children that magically appeared out the back after a drive.

the windows is just a reset, send it all the way down and all.the way up and hold the switch once it gets to the end of cycle it resets the auto windows, my mum's 307cc does it

You said it yourself in the video. With the classic 900, it was completely individual, there was nothing else built like it. Now that has its good and bad points obviously but, when G.M took over, and the G.M 900 and later the 9-3 took the place of the 900, they were built in the same way as everything else. They stopped being Saabs and instead became Saab flavoured cars. Again, that has its good and bad points but purists will argue that the true individuality faded. The worst thing that happened was the intoxicating exhaust note of the 900 turbo, disappeared completely. That was little short of criminal. Those 900 turbos sounded absolutely wonderful. But even I will admit that from a convertible standpoint, the easiest car to live with and the ‘nicest place to sit’ was in the mk1 9-3 convertible. So it really is swings and roundabouts. However, the two best cars Saab ever built were the 1985 900 turbo 16 valve ‘S’ and the 1998 9000 Aero. Those two cars sum up Saab for me. But it’s the 85 t16s which I consider my favourite car in the world. Nothing else looks like it, drives like it, feels like it, smells like it and sounds like it. They’re bloody wonderful.

It's a beast

I’ve had many, many, many Saabs over the years. I love them to bits but my favourite was a 9000 cde griffen 2.3 that was a silver, ultra comfortable, guided missile. Never really got to properly test the new, new 9-5 but I was never really taken with the old one purely because they weren’t as good as the late edition 9000. The 9000 aero being quite frankly one of the best all rounders ever built by anyone, in my opinion. Think my Saab days are behind me, I’m very happy with my CLK but if there is a 9000 aero lurking out there somewhere with my name on it, can’t say I’d complain.

Don't put your foot down, instead change into a lower gear for goodness sake. This is what you would have been taught to do 50 or 60 years ago, when the BHP of cars was often half of today's equivalent! Nevertheless, a good, informative video.

My sister just bought a white note tekna edition and she’s says it probably one of the best second hand hatchbacks money can buy. Realistically it’s only worth buying a note imo if you can find either an N-Tec or Tekna model

I have a 16 valve and its no pillow to drive.

I own 2 Saabs, a 2010 9-3 XWD 6 speed automatic, and a 2007 Saab 9-3 FWD 6 speed manual. I saw a saab production document, and only 51 of my 2010 came into the US! That's my daily driver, I love it! I've been toying with the idea of looking for a 9-5 XWD, have seen some with low miles, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I do own a Tech 2 diagnostic scanner and Trionic 8 software for my laptop, so, no problem repairing them. I will ALWAYS drive a Saab! Hey, nice review! Saab-on!

odd how 2012 had more features than the 2013 has and I have the 2013 had it for 8 years now, best purchase I made most reliable, diesel 1.6litre, just took good care of it and it never game me major issues

those taillights aren't stock, since those didn't appear until the 2005 facelift.

I got the 500 with facelift interior and 7g gearbox, but with the m113. Unicorn, because soon after 2005 came the 63 and the 500 with m273 5.5

I can easily get 9.3l/100 or 30 mpg on a motorway trip , averaging 100kph. They are a great car , once you replace suspension arms , spark plugs , rotors and service the transmission , they will go for years without an issue.

I am looking this car (the titanium x version mk4) as my first car, is it a good car to own (also what is it like to park and drive in tight country roads). Thanks.
