I really want these guys to play a D&D game now. They have the perfect personalities for a great party. Jeff is the straight guy that you can always count on, but occasionally has controversial ideas. Shane is the top dog that everyone and nobody agrees is top dog. He has hard opinions and sticks to them, but isn't completely adverse to hearing others out. But mostly is. Forrest is the middle grounds, the guy you call on for a tie breaker (literally). He analyzes things the best he can to make proper decisions, but isn't afraid to do things just for shits and giggles. Jared is chaos. The physical embodiment of screwing others over and taking joy in it all. But he's also pretty dang friendly. Austin is the comedy character. He does his best and can fall short, but everybody loves him and supports him. Tell me this wouldn't be fun.
I honestly doubt it i feel like the way theyve been voting so far melee will win and trump animal crossing except for pbg because he hates fighting games

The one problem I have with Pikmin 2 is that the dungeons are designed against multitasking. I think they are cool ideas and collecting treasure is fun, but when you have RANDOM bombs drop from the sky onto anything that walks under them, you are forced to play with your pikmin close to you through the whole dungeon. That’s not what I play Pikmin for. This game is so great for the most part, but the dungeons are not fun because of their quick kill obstacles.
Ok, that actually is a really fair point. However, the over world section is for multitasking while the caves are for endurance. Having a limit of 100 Pikmin (generally) and a vast array of foes to face in dungeons that can be 10 or more floors deep puts a player's skill to the ultimate test. To me, that is why Pikmin 2 is my favorite game in the series and one of my all time fav game in general. The caves r the best part of Pikmin to me

This takes time and meanwhile the rest of your Pikmin team is just sitting doing nothing. And even when you do think you cleared them all, you are encouraged to walk with your treasure collecting pikmin group because who’s to say you didn’t miss a random bomb rock. Its slow and you’re paranoid all because of one insta-kill obstacle you have no way of seeing. Just to protect them for god knows how many floors.
Um....you do realized Olimar is legal y'know. Considering he already has a wife and kids in the 1st game. Yeah I get it's a joke because he looks like a 'kid' but he does have a pretty deep voice in the game if you listen if you switch Olimar and Louie.
Personally out of these 3 games I would rather play a pikmin title. Animal crossing is a truly special game, but pikmin has an actual end game goal which can feel much more satisfying compared to a game that never ends, especially considering replayability.
Yeah...but I never heard anyone mention the legendary air ride machines, so I'm not entirely sure that they've played enough to unlock them... And I just thought about the Formula Star. That's pretty fast. And when you get loads of upgrades in City Trial you can end up even going too fast and find it hard to control.

In the emails each night, there are other characters as well, some mentioned in the previous game, equalling character development. Challenge mode is also available in addition to the main game. Descriptions of the items, enemies, and environment add to the charm of completion, just as the furniture might a house in Animal Crossing.
I agree. Honestly Animal Crossing and Kirby Air Ride were the only contenders for me here, but Animal Crossing is like a /phenomenon/ for middle school me. I tried to get as many friends as I could to play it.
That last point from Austin about Kirby Air Ride rings true to me in my childhood, too. I once brought my Gamecube to a LAN party with friends where we all brought our own consoles, games, and computers to play together with each other and I tried to suggest "Who wants to play Air Ride?" and almost nobody did. Even outside of parties I could only ever get one friend to play it together and we spent a lot of time on City Trial. I would've still voted for it because I liked it the most out of the 3 games, but I can admit to the faults it had like that.

Damnit, between PBG being crazy for Animal Crossing and Jeff hating on Pikmin 2, I don't like the odds of them making the right decision. Jeff is just biased because of their long Let's Play experience. I mean, there's no reason to go back to Animal Crossing for Gamecube when there are better Animal Crossing games, and there's no reason to go back to Kirby Air Ride when there's better multiplayer racing games. Pikmin 2 is unique, just all the games in the Pikmin series, really. Pikmin 1 is a nice, short, replayable experience; Pikmin 2 is long, dungeon crawler, with massive tons of content; Pikmin 3 is somewhere between the two, but with a greater emphasis on the bosses. Access to pikmin also differentiates the games, with Pikmin 2 having OP purples; Pikmin 3 having OP flying, and Pikmin 1 being restricted to the main 3.
These are all games that I played way too much. Kirby Air Ride was filled to the brim with fun with the family. Animal Crossing was escapism in a casual way; there was something to come back to every day. Pikmin 2 was a great and slightly wacky adventure filled with vibrant creatures. All are too good for me to pick.
This might be my favorite lineup on Madness so far. I love Jirard and everyone else that has been on as well but this lineup is really chill and offers some interesting and diverse opinions on most of these topics. I love GCN as well so. I love this season so far also.
The Kirby Air Ride achievement checklists? One of the best parts of the game besides City Trials. I would be always so excited to get another box open as I played.

Kirby Air Ride is a game that definitely takes a little while to really master. You have to master driving, battling, and flight, and you have to learn how to do so well for each star. I can understand why some people aren't able to get into it if they don't spend enough time with it. For me, I have an absolute blast every time my friends and I play it (So thankful that I have a full group of friends who grew up playing the game with me!), and I *still* discover new things in the game to this day. That's how much depth City Trial has. Like, just a couple of years ago I considered the Bulk Star to be one of the worst stars in the game, but one time I decided to really try it out and discovered that with some glide, charge, and boost patches it becomes *insanely* fun to use. Add some Top Speed patches and it goes crazy fast. Fast forward to just a few weeks ago, and my friends and I discovered that the Rex Wheelie can actually single-handedly destroy the Hydra if you can begin attacking it before it can move. None of us had any idea about that weakness until then, but now it's another element if the game to keep in mind for future games. I have never played a multiplayer game that remains as fun and exciting as City Trial has, and that's due to the huge amount of variables in the game that make every match truly unique, and the huge amount of little details to keep in mind to come up with the best strategies for any given situation.
I haven't finished the video yet, but I just want to say: I love Jeff so much. He is not only the best guest yet, he's on par with any of the regulars. His points are great, his sense of humor is great, I want him to be a member of every future series!

There's so much more that could've been said for Kirby Airride, but still think AC & Pikmin 2 are better over it. More than just playing the regular game, it was so fun to do City Trial or Free Mode and just hangout in the city with my friends & sister or whoever I was playing with. All the cool secrets like hopping in the volcano to blast off to the little sky island was rad, the underground section with the mini model of the city, those rails taking you to different sections, all those huge events that shaped the match (my favorite was the meteor shower, for the destruction!! The Fake Items event was hilarious too). Just sayin, I think more could've been said to defend the game :3
For real though, Original Animal Crossing does have Punch Out! it's a pain to get because it requires a separate memory card and making a whole different town that is made specially for it if you didn't want to use that town. A lot of crazy codes go with it too, but it is legitimately in there without anything but the game disc.

Kirby air ride is fun but if you if you get too good/played enough of city trials, the experience gets a little ruined. After a point we knew where all the legendary spawns were so someone would most likely have it before the event, which meant you auto won basically for most of them. Still a fun game though!
I really hope they do something to put in the games that lost round 2, cause that'd be super unfair to something like Resident Evil 4, which is one of the best games on this bracket, & had the same loss as Melee to not be able to even have a shot at Grand Finals
I would offer this opinion, animal crossing runs out of things to do and you're expected to continue...kirby has only so many times you can play the preferred party run........Pikmin 2 has a growing story and an actual ending....pikmin 2 is the winner in my book
Yeah they only talk about it briefly but villagers leaving kills a lot replayability. I came back two years later to find 80% of the villagers I knew had moved away and killed a lot of my emotional attachment to the game. Even worse is that Animal Crossing has character archetypes so when someone showed with the exact same speech patterns as someone I liked who moved away it kind of ruined the immersion

Get another GameCube memory card, make a new file and travel to that town, tho you may lose a villager, the likenesses of the others leaving is smaller. Tangy, Kitty, Mitzi, Baarbara, and Samson lived in my town for years without leaving.
I got really into Animal Crossing. I loved the collectible NES games too. I was amazed that you could get full and real games inside the game. I also got an e-reader and a GBA/GCN cable just for AC. I went to the island a bunch, tried to collect the cards, but those were hard to find locally for me. It was an overall, great experience to play it. It was also the first time I ever played Ice Climber.
I have the same problem trying to get people to play F-Zero GX with me. I love that game, but no one ever wants to play it with me. It's always Double Dash, Mario Kart 64, or one of the Smash games.
Louie is my favorite character from Pikmin he has such an interesting personality and his love of food is completely explained by his backstory. He has a really unique design when compared to the other astronauts.
From all of the games ive ever heard about,played, etc., i always hear that Animal Crossing is the game that helps people when theyre feeling down. For me, I can definitely agree, it really helps me feel better. I tend to feel down a lot, and its just nice to have such a positive happy world, and even though theyre programmed to say it, its nice to have all the villagers love you, and welcome you and say they miss you. I never knew about animal crossing growing up, and i really wish I had. It holds a special place in my heart now and forever will. Also, i've never heard peebs say "bitch" before.
What really helps it accomplish that is the music and sound design. As an electronic musician and an audio engineer, going through the audio samples of the game is incredibly interesting to me because I can really see and hear exactly what each sound was made for. The way each song has completely different drums (or at least, different but sometimes similar sounding), and the exact intention of each sound is just fascinating. That game's soundtrack was literally built to relax you, at any and all hours of the day, from every building block.
Being the only one who played video games in my family, the only games I can get them to play with me were simpler ones and had simple controls. I played a lot of Kirby Air Ride and Super Monkey Ball with them, and rarely got them to play Mario Kart
Kirby Air Ride got way underrated here. The game is a lot of fun in all three modes in multiplayer, the challenge checkbox boards give the game a ton of depth and replayability, it's great.
I'd absolutely pick Air Ride out of these 3. I've put in quite a few hours over the years just playing City Trial and Top Ride on my own while trying to fill out the check boxes and unlock everything I can
Kirby Air Ride is the best poorly designed game ever. By which I mean it's horrendously unbalanced and entirely luck based in everything except top ride, and YET City Trial is one of the only things I pull my gamecube (or Wii) out for anymore. Messing around in City Trial, throwing bombs at your friends, picknig up sweet upgrades and trying to beat each other to the legendary rides while working around the map events makes Kirby Air Ride a game I will always come back to when I have family over. That said, none of my friends ever played it. It was strictly played with my siblings, so I totally get why it didn't win.

I still need to finish Pikmin 3. That game looked amazing on the WiiU. Especially for the WiiU.
Pikmin 3 is probably my second favorite Wii U game after Breath of the Wild, I go back and forth on whether I prefer it or Pikmin 2.
Pikmin 2 is the best in the series, easy pick for me.
I go back and forth between it and Pikmin 3, and I would say 2 is probably my second favorite game after Paper Mario : TTYD.

Kirby air ride is fun but if you if you get too good/played enough of city trials, the experience gets a little ruined. After a point we knew where all the legendary spawns were so someone would most likely have it before the event, which meant you auto won basically for most of them. Still a fun game though!

I really hope they do something to put in the games that lost round 2, cause that'd be super unfair to something like Resident Evil 4, which is one of the best games on this bracket, & had the same loss as Melee to not be able to even have a shot at Grand Finals
I would offer this opinion, animal crossing runs out of things to do and you're expected to continue...kirby has only so many times you can play the preferred party run........Pikmin 2 has a growing story and an actual ending....pikmin 2 is the winner in my book
Yeah they only talk about it briefly but villagers leaving kills a lot replayability. I came back two years later to find 80% of the villagers I knew had moved away and killed a lot of my emotional attachment to the game. Even worse is that Animal Crossing has character archetypes so when someone showed with the exact same speech patterns as someone I liked who moved away it kind of ruined the immersion
@@sunnythedrunk I know you already lost your villagers but here is a trick. Get another GameCube memory card, make a new file and travel to that town, tho you may lose a villager, the likenesses of the others leaving is smaller. Tangy, Kitty, Mitzi, Baarbara, and Samson lived in my town for years without leaving.

I got really into Animal Crossing. I loved the collectible NES games too. I was amazed that you could get full and real games inside the game. I also got an e-reader and a GBA/GCN cable just for AC. I went to the island a bunch, tried to collect the cards, but those were hard to find locally for me. It was an overall, great experience to play it. It was also the first time I ever played Ice Climber.

I have the same problem trying to get people to play F-Zero GX with me. I love that game, but no one ever wants to play it with me. It's always Double Dash, Mario Kart 64, or one of the Smash games.

I've never played any Animal Crossing but this video makes me excited that there's a new one coming out.
Louie is my favorite character from Pikmin he has such an interesting personality and his love of food is completely explained by his backstory. He has a really unique design when compared to the other astronauts.
pikmin 2 is such a grind the last cave literally makes me want to die, it's so hard.
The only game I went back to was Kirby Air Ride. My friends and I still play it to this day when we wanna have a chill time together.

From all of the games ive ever heard about,played, etc., i always hear that Animal Crossing is the game that helps people when theyre feeling down. For me, I can definitely agree, it really helps me feel better. I tend to feel down a lot, and its just nice to have such a positive happy world, and even though theyre programmed to say it, its nice to have all the villagers love you, and welcome you and say they miss you. I never knew about animal crossing growing up, and i really wish I had. It holds a special place in my heart now and forever will.

What really helps it accomplish that is the music and sound design. As an electronic musician and an audio engineer, going through the audio samples of the game is incredibly interesting to me because I can really see and hear exactly what each sound was made for. The way each song has completely different drums (or at least, different but sometimes similar sounding), and the exact intention of each sound is just fascinating. That game's soundtrack was literally built to relax you, at any and all hours of the day, from every building block.
Such a hard matchup. I was pretty surprised at the winner. It seems like each game had someone against it.

Being the only one who played video games in my family, the only games I can get them to play with me were simpler ones and had simple controls. I played a lot of Kirby Air Ride and Super Monkey Ball with them, and rarely got them to play Mario Kart
Im excited for when they get to the wii and 3ds generation onwards because thats around the generation that i started gaming

Kirby Air Ride got way underrated here. The game is a lot of fun in all three modes in multiplayer, the challenge checkbox boards give the game a ton of depth and replayability, it's great.

Kirby Air Ride is the best poorly designed game ever.
By which I mean it's horrendously unbalanced and entirely luck based in everything except top ride, and YET City Trial is one of the only things I pull my gamecube (or Wii) out for anymore. Messing around in City Trial, throwing bombs at your friends, picknig up sweet upgrades and trying to beat each other to the legendary rides while working around the map events makes Kirby Air Ride a game I will always come back to when I have family over.
That said, none of my friends ever played it. It was strictly played with my siblings, so I totally get why it didn't win.
