I didn’t release that the Apple Watch didn’t have a proper built in system for tracking activity and stuff. I don’t want it to be a phone on my arm that I have to keep updated and download a bunch of apps just to get it to be functional. Hmmm.
For Activity Tracker the first think i check is if they have transflective display. Athletes use this devices most of the time in direct sunlight and sadly amoled display in direct sunlight is inferior whatever contrast or color accuracy they have.
I tend to agree. However, there's a large market for AMOLED watches in the "wellness" community. For people who are generally active but not to the extreme. Thanks for watching!
Appreciate the video here! Great information as these are the two I’m currently debating between at the moment. I don’t really do much outdoors however I was looking for something to help me track my calories burned throughout a weight lifting session.. would you recommend the Garmin for that? Thank you in advance!
I think the Garmin is easier to use when it comes to tracking activity/calories. The Apple Watch works but you'll need to download additional apps to make sense of the info. Hope that helps!
Recently bought a Venu SQ Music as my Fitbit Ionic was recalled & didnt feel confident buying another Fitbit, hopefully I get my recall refund soon which will almost cover the cost of the Garmin. Garmin much better quality unit than Fitbit.
On the Garmin Venue can we listen to music from the lists we have downloaded, without being online? To know if it's worth getting the one with the music version or the simple one. By the way, great presentation!
The Apple Watch's always work better with iPhone and I'm pretty sure there's no accident there and Apple isn't doing Garmin any favors. In some situations you'll need to restart the Garmin Connect app to keep things working but overall it's pretty good.
I'm sure you didn't change tracking mode from smart to per second. It happen to me so the gps and heart rate accuracy is off. And not mention, garmin have ANT feature, which can connect to external sensor such as heart rate strap, shoes sensor, cadence sensor, speed sensor, compass, etc
Thanks for sharing! The difference between "Smart" and 1 second recording is negligible for the most part. In some cases "smart" is actually more accurate because it eliminates erroneous data points when standing still or moving slowly from GPS drift. "Smart" recording actually does sample your location ever 1-second it just filters out data points that are too close together to be considered relevant. The "smart" recording setting has no effect on Heartrate recording. That will always be 1-second during an activity. ANT+ is a nice feature for some accessories for sure! These days Bluetooth seems to be more prominent but ANT+ is certainly nicer for older accessories. Thanks for watching.
@@ChaseTheSummit have you ever tried or just read the documentation? It's not so many different if you just using for running. But if you use for cycling (or by car) it's have huge effect And ANT+ is not for older accessories. It's different with Bluetooth which the Bluetooth only have one receiver, ANT+ can broadcasted several receiver at a time. For example the speed and cadence sensor at bicycle can broadcasted to cyclo comp and garmin watch simultaneously. That's why ANT+ protocol use for fitness or sport accessories until now and not replaced with Bluetooth
One omission - The Apple Watch has an altimeter, the Garmin does not. Would have been good to compare the elevational data - for some users this is important. Any thoughts?
Yep, hard to include every little detail in a short video! Having an altimeter is really only useful if you like to look at your current elevation during an activity. Both watches will have elevation data after they're synced to Garmin Connect or Strava because it generates the elevation data based on the GPS position.
Thanks for a great video, I am thinking of getting the Garmin but I really need QR code preview... it's not possible to have it on Garmin? Isn't it? Thanks :)

Apple Watch can download songs offline, including Spotify? There was an update a few months ago? Or is this specific to the SE because I don't think it would be.
Hi, I like you work, can you give me an advice to buy a watch like 245 under the 300$ but not the 245 I don't like small watches. I run 5 times (5x 8km) a week and go to the gym almost the same times thanks for your work
Maybe check out the COROS Apex. It's $300 and built a bit more rugged with a titanium bezel and sapphire lens. It feels a bit more premium but does lack some of the wellness features of the Garmins.
Quality? It sounds as good as any other bluetooth audio player. You'll get the same audio experience as something like an iphone or laptop. Hope that helps!
I can't say I've climbed with them. The Apple Watch does have some interesting apps like "Pinnacle" for indoor/outdoor rock climbing though. I'd invest in a screen proctor or a case if you plan on climbing with either of these as they'll undoubtably get damaged during a climb.

@@RealSkyDiver2 Yeah, but the apps on the Apple watch make it a less cohesive ecosystem. The widgets on the Garmin all work together better, IMHO.
Great job, thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Great comparison. Are you planing also to make the review for Fenix 6x pro solar? Including the solar efficiency.
I have a couple of videos on the F6 Pro Solar on my channel! Thanks for watching.
@@ChaseTheSummit Good to know, will go through the list of videos and check the relevant. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing!
Can you use spotify without your phone on the garmin sq if you do not have a paid membership with spotify?
I believe you need the paid membership with Spotify. There are free options that you can download though.
On the Garmin Venue can we listen to music from the lists we have downloaded, without being online? To know if it's worth getting the one with the music version or the simple one. By the way, great presentation!
Yes, with the "music" version. It can download your Spotify playlists for offline listening!
Very helpful video, Thank you! I was wondering how is the compatibility of Garmin with the iPhone? Does Apple SE work better with iPhone?
But if you use for cycling (or by car) it's have huge effect
And ANT+ is not for older accessories.
Isn't it? Thanks :)
Would this Garmin Connect IQ app work? apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/91da4a8c-9b46-4819-9aee-4425dc213965
not on the venu sq :( I guess I will just have to compromise...
Nice review
Thanks!
Very comprehensive. Thank you.
Glad you found it helpful!
i am watching this video on my ipad mini (my only apple device) and i wonder if you are aware, that the "become a member" button wich is pretty apparent on my android phone and windows pc, is completely missing? is that a known or "wanted" issue/feature?
That's really weird! It should be shown on all devices. In either case... I appreciate the support Marius!
@@ChaseTheSummit i was thinking about supporting one of my favorite channels for a while now. you have a more "down to earth" fee than most other youtubers. also is your channel the "smallest" on my list that actually offers a membership. keep up the interesting content so my icon may turn red one day! cheers!
Good vid thanks bud
Thanks for watching!
Is Garmin venu SQ compatible with all iPhones for Bluetooth pairing?
Yup!
Apple Watch can download songs offline, including Spotify? There was an update a few months ago? Or is this specific to the SE because I don't think it would be.
Right! This video was posted before that update. All good now!
How about Venu Sq vs Fitbit Versa 3?
I haven't had a chance to try the Versa 3 but I'll see what I can do.
DOes the venu come with cellular along with GPS
Nope, just GPS.
How you setup venu sq watch face?
long tap the screen for a few seconds and the settings menu should pop up with the ability to customize the fields.
How about resolution wise?
Apple Watch takes the cake there!
Can we take calls and msgs.on Garmin venu sq?
Cannot take calls but you can respond to messages with an android phone (not with iphone unfortunately)
@@ChaseTheSummit Thank you very much. Keep up the great work.
Venu sq notify alerts for heart rate and stress level.
Yup! But there's probably an app for that somewhere on the IOS store haha.
Can u link the Garmin with the peloton app?
You can use third party apps like “sync my workout” to get them to be linked but I don’t think natively it works.
Kindly suggest me which smart watch should I go for as I am fitness athlete and do crossfit and strength training
Both of these would do the job. I'd also check out the newer Garmin Venu 2 as it has a lot more features.
How is the music quality on venu sq? And how does it compares to watch active 2 and galaxy watch 3?
Quality? It sounds as good as any other bluetooth audio player. You'll get the same audio experience as something like an iphone or laptop. Hope that helps!
@@ChaseTheSummit is it compatible with the galaxy buds pro blue tooth headset?
@@brucelin5842 any bluetooth earphones will work.

Thanks for the thorough comparison. Have you tried both watches in climbing indoors? If so, could you tell me how your experience was?
I can't say I've climbed with them. The Apple Watch does have some interesting apps like "Pinnacle" for indoor/outdoor rock climbing though. I'd invest in a screen proctor or a case if you plan on climbing with either of these as they'll undoubtably get damaged during a climb.
HI thanks for your sharing, I want to ask about Venu SQ, is Badminton included in the sports?
I do not see badminton as a sport unfortunately.
