Thank you for making this video. I went down this same rabbit hole. I'll try to share what I learned in hopes that it helps someone else out there... This system is called, 'AirLock' and it is Dewalt's proprietary dust management solution that makes their tools OSHA compliant. The first problem is that they don't expect you to use a wet/dry vac with their tools. They expect you to use a HEPA filter equipped dust extractor such as their DWV010 or DWV012 which come with a special hose that only connects to tools with their AirLock dust port. This is why they don't include an adapter with the tool. Even the dust separator isn't really intended to be used for dust extraction. It is made to prolong the life of your wet/dry vac filter when cleaning up the floor. Here is some good news: You don't need to run a 2-1/2 inch hose to these tools. Remember, the tool manufacturer tells you how big the hose needs to be when they set the size of the dust port on the tool. The air flow is only as great as the smallest point so using a larger hose won't make things better. The DWV9000 is reverse threaded for a 1-1/4 inch hose such as this one from Rona for only 30 loonies.... www.rona.ca/en/product/project-source-8-ft-x-125-in-black-plastic-hose-for-wet-and-dry-3-gal-vacuum-ps08-2517-45585013 This hose, together with the DWV9000, allows you to connect any AirLock tool to a vac (or cyclone) with a 2-1/2 inch inlet. It is a much less bulky solution than using their 'Large Hose Adapter' and no bigger than needed. I found this especially helpful when connecting to the back of my mitre saw which swings back and forth and up and down with each cut. I also paid extra for the dust port on my circular saw... and it works really well... but having to use two different adapters and a big shop vac hose makes it really difficult to use. The DWV9000 screws on to the end of this hose like it was meant to be there and makes using these tools so much nicer. The elephant in the room here is that the consumer market is but an after thought for Dewalt. Their bread and butter consists of sales reps that sell directly to larger contractors/construction businesses, as well as commercial and industrial operations. These businesses get inspected regularly and will not purchase anything that fails to meet health and safety standards. This is also why it is so difficult for regular consumers to get any information on (or sometimes even access to) some of these specialized products. They don't expect you to buy it. I too, am a Dewalt fan-boy but there are days...
I found on Amazon these 2 in 1 package for $12.99. It’s branded MAICON DWV9000 + DWV9190. I assume it is the same product. I just purchased the 10 gal collector. Will be purchasing the Dewalt Stealthsonic 5 or 5.5 HP Vac. Thx for the research & your willingness to share!
These two connectors have Amazon copy cat versions of these 2 fittings for less than $20. I will let you know if they work out. I too am a Dewalt guy and am annoyed by this. You saved me great amount of time. Thank you!
I have a couple of the handheld 3 gallon dewalt shop vacs including the battery operated. They plug directly into almost every dewalt tool I have. The table saw on the otherhand I have plugged directly into a 15 gallon 5.5 horse shop vac branded vac that has a 2.5" hose. In most cases it comes down most handheld tools are 1.25 inch along with most fixed or benchtop tools. Table saws, planers, jointers usually step up to 2"-4". This isn't really a dewalt issue it's across the board for many tool companies in most cases. Unless ya step up to festool or the like.
I believe it is this one. Its a little bulky though i find. Thanks for watching. www.homedepot.ca/product/ridgid-2-1-2-in-x-20-ft-tug-a-long-universal-locking-flexible-vacuum-hose-for-wet-dry-shop-vacuums/1000850418
I haven't tried it but I know the wands come in different diameters. I don't know if there's a standard size. I would think as long as you look at the diameters and compare them, you could make that work.
I forgot to ask. What separater (extended) hose did you end up buying? I am looking to extend the stock hose with something longer and sturdier. Recommendations, any more required adapters? lol
The hose i got was a 20ft hose...rigid I think. It came with adaptors. Its pretty awkward and bulky. Im going to switch it up this fall. Someone recommended a cen-tec hose which im gonna try.
Great Video! I totally agree! I’m a “DeWalt Guy” also! With that being said, I need a DeWalt adapter for my DeWalt DWE7485 Table Saw going into my DeWalt DXV09P Shop Vacuum? Help!
Ah good question. For that setup I am not sure what DeWalt adaptor you would need but you need it to reduce it from 2 1/2 inches (table saw) to 1 7/8 inches (vacuum) I think. You could use the setup I talked about however you would need a reducer off of those. Or you can get any old reducer adaptor. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
I took the dust collector bag that came with the saw through the bag away and use the part that goes to the saw as an adapter and use the parts that you get at the store the multi adapters and made it work out pretty decent
FYI @ 3:26 - you don’t ‘screw’ the DWE9000 onto the tool’s dust chute. Just slide it over the chute, hold the end ring nearest the tool while rotating the adapter’s base counter clockwise. This willcreates the “air lock” by engaging its inner ball bearings. Turn clockwise to unlock and pull off.
The model number for that adapter is DWE575DC. Its not the 60v saw. I wish. They also make a flexvolt model which takes both 20 and 60 volt batteries. Thanks for watching!
@@northernoutlier ok thanks, I have both of the 60 Volt circ saws and the 60 volt track saw and only the track saw has the air lock dust collection built in but I want to get a little 3d printed port for my 60v
SAME ISSUE! Thanks for making this video. I think I am ONE step closer to solving my issue, but I wish you would have gone into more detail about the DWV9190... Does it connect to the Rigid hose you mentioned? Will it connect to the hose that comes with your DeWalt vacuum? Would have loved some more commentary about those two systems and how well they play together. I have a Rigid vacuum, and I am desperate to get back to work on my project-Have already bought the "universal connector" (LOL) and will now place an order for the 9190 and hope it does the trick.
About 6-7 yrs ago I bought a dewalt dust extractor. I think it was about $700 It came with a twist loc type end on the hose. That wouldn’t fit any tools. I then bought the accy kit with all different nozzles and a carry bag. Probably around $80-100. Those accys would not fit the twist loc on the dust extractor. I called dewalt twice, spent way too much time and was told I bought the wrong accy kit. They gave me a part number ordered another kit for another$80-100 and voila, that didn’t work either. Called dewalt again, spent way too much time and no one there knows how to fix the problem. Long story long, I had weeks and weeks, all sorts of parts dewalt told me to buy, and way too much $ into a glorified shop vac. I don’t know how I finally figured it all it but I found a dewalt adapter that fit the twist loc and reduced it to fit all the attachment accys I bought. How do u sell a $700 vacuum, an $100 accy kit and nothing comes with either to make them one??? 6 yrs later, I see ur video, and I’m triggered!!! I now use 90% Milwaukee and festool. F U dewalt.
I feel your pain. It's ridiculous they can't just include an adaptor or at least have very clear information on the website. I basically learned about the adapters through reading reviews and TH-cam videos, and cross referencing with there website. I was triggered to haha. Since I'm way to deep with DeWalt (own several batteries and power tools) I don't think I'm switching anytime soon. Thanks for watching!
Don’t get me wrong I still hav $1000’s of dollars of dewalt tools, but I’ve been makin the switch to other platforms for multiple Reasons. I just wish the milwaukees impact was as comfortable to me as dewalts.
For years I've just been putting my shop hose over the top of the first adapter 😂 always thought it was clumsy application never thought i needed additional pieces until i started using the drywall pole sander and the hose kept falling off 🤦 Thank you for the video
I just FINALLY discovered (after buying YET ANOTHER adapter). I Realized the adapter I bought to adapt the DW900 was threaded left handed. THEN I realized the DW900 had left handed threads in it. And Lo and Behold unscrewed the end off my Ridgid 1 7/8” hose (Also Left handed) and PRESTO. The DW900 threads right on to it PERFECTLY. NO other adapters needed. I face Palmed myself so hard I nearly needed the Paramedics.
@@northernoutlier I bought the “Car Kit” Hose for my Ridgid. It has a ten foot (very nice) hose and some not all that special attachments. (The Orange Hose). And that DW900 screws on there like a factory fit
Thank you for your time and effort. However, I wish you could have connected to the stock DeWalt shop vac hose that came with yours. The female threads on the air-lock adapter do not fit. Frustration continues. Someone explained that DeWalt dust extraction units are why these adapters don’t fit the regular old shop vac hoses sold with DeWalt shop vacs.
Thank you, and in terms of the stock hose I really wish it was a smaller diameter hose. It's very awkward at times. I wish the whole process on hoses and adaptors was much clearer.
I get being a one brand tool guy for battery tools, but it's better to buy the best specific tool if it's corded. I can tell you for sure, this vacuum from DeWalt can't really compare with other vacuums. I got Makita vacuum (the best value for this price range), and it comes with 3 tool attachments, one small plastic type, one big and one small rubber type. The smaller rubber connector is shaped a way that it fits on EVERYTHING, no matter the brand, and the spare one is less then €15. Always look for the best value.
The small adapter is meant to screw directly onto a 1.25IN dust collector hose. It really is annoying - and that adapter *doesn't* fit the router dust collection adapters - that needs yet a different one that I don't think DeWalt even makes. I too am a big DeWalt fanbois with a ton of their tools, the best way to do this is order a Cen-tec hose kit with their "Quick-Click" hose attachment adapters. They have them to fit the DeWalt tools, and the hoses are MUCH nicer to use with handheld tools. You can get a kit with the hose and 5-6 adapters for less than $50. It comes with an adapter for the vacuum end of the hose too. More flexible, and you can get MUCH longer hoses. They sell individual adapters for every size connection you can imagine too for ~$5 each. . I have an overhead articulated boom arm with the hose running though it and a remote on-off switch for the vacuum at the end.
One cool thing though, the 1-1/4" hose on the DeWalt cordless vacuum is exactly the same size as the Ridgid auto detailing kit. All the bits and pieces fit like a glove, or you can swap out the 5' DeWalt hose for the 10' Ridgid hose. But yeah, DeWalt customer service was useless. I had to figure it out myself.
yeah i just talked to "guancarlo" on customer service for 30 minutes and that guy was useless. i have the 35mm black plastic thing coming out of my circular saw and im about to order the same vacuum as you (i think, DCV501HB) after you got the DWV9000 adapter, did you need another piece to connect that to the 1-1/4 hose on the vacuum?
@@bz9363 The 1-1/4" hose on the DCV501HB looks identical to the one on my vac. You should be able to unthread the fitting from the hose (left-handed thread and a little rubber cement goo) and then thread the DWV9000 directly onto the hose. Let me know how it goes.
@@danielpittman889 so I ended up getting that vacuum from Lowe’s just now and that nozzle doesn’t seem to want to come off at all. To the point where I’m messing up the tubing trying to get it off and it’s kinda scaring me cuz idk if I’ll be able to get it back on or get the other part that I ordered on there. The new part just screws on the end of the tubing right?
@@bz9363 It should just unscrew. Mine was glued in with a blob of rubber cement, but yours may have more glue. And remember it's a left-handed thread - make sure you're turning it the correct way.
I wish I had seen your video a couple of years ago... I too am all in on the dewalt platform and went thru the same issue. Dust collection is an issue with dewalt and it's a shame they seem to want to nickel & dime their customers rather then help them out... none of the dewalt tools are cheap and at these prices they could include the adapter
I totally agree with you. SHAME on Stanley/DeWalt/Black & Decker for making your dust collection adapters SO INCAPATABLE. The two parts you highlighted are STILL TERRIBLE! It's no wonder why other companies are taking the lead on adapters. I'm embarrassed to say that Stanley/DeWalt/Black & Decker's HQ is less then a MILE from my home. What else needs to be said for Stanley/DeWalt/Black & Decker to get your SHIT together?
You said "Say "that" 3 times..." Would it be "that, that, that"? KIdding aside, I have a lot of Dewalt tools (recommended by my son (over using Craftsman), and I like Dewalt a lot. Connecting the Dewalt dust collector to my 6.5HP Craftsman (25+ years old and still running great) was not a problem (90 degree PVC elbow did the trick). Connecting the dust collector hose to other tools is the challenge. I have a detailed sheet listing all the attachments to the DWV9000 and they total about $125 on Amazon. Expensive to have all the various attachments.
Just hit this problem in New Zealand, today and those adapters are $109nzd - $65usd!!! Honestly it’s the last straw for me, ryobi and adapters for dewalt batteries from now on. as a DIYer, if the ryobi breaks its half the price to replace, they have twice the range of products, and everything works. Ridiculous.
Those prices are crazy. I didn't even want to pay what I did. Hope the Ryobi works for you. I've had Ryobi stuff but broke pretty quickly. Thank you for watching.
Not sure if you have Amazon there but they have cheaper versions. Also I stumbled across people 3d printing adapters for sale on Etsy. You may even be able to find the files to print them yourself (or have a friend print them).
If you get a Dewalt dust extractor instead of the shop vac it comes with the right interface to fit on their tools. It’s an expensive way to avoid this issue.
Going through this annoying process right now. Pretty sure Dewalt designed their wet/dry vacs to not work with their hand tools without jumping through hoops so that you need to spend a ton of cash on their dust collector. This is making me think twice about investing more into Dewalt if this is how things are going to be.
It is annoying. Unfortunately I feel to invested in my DeWalt power tools at this point. Maybe they will come around on this issue. Thanks for watching!
@@BrendaGraham-t6b Is that a DeWalt? The only DeWalt vac's I could find that had a compatible hose diameter were over $600. I bought a Rigid wet/dry vac for like $80 and it works with these adapters. The DeWalt vac I bought for $120 wasn't compatible with their tools or connectors. Ironic, it got returned.
Same problems here, and I live in South Africa where I haven't been able to find adapter stock at all. The DW distributors here are less than helpful and DeWalt global keeps sending me back to them so I have a seriously bad taste about this. Ordering on Amazon costs more in shipping and customs than the price of the partd, so very unhappy... I'm also a big fanboy, I keep losing my way round the shop because everything is yellow and black and not Stanley, but the look is ruined by duct tape and pool pipe jury rigs all over to get things to work. Kind of let's the brand down.
That sounds tough. I definitely couldn't justify paying more than the part in shipping and customs. Maybe you could find other adaptors from other brands that might work. Would be a lot of researching though. Thanks for watching.
how stupid is DeWalt: Impossible to find the splitter for my dewalt contractors saw and meanwhile I have other brands of tools, including a rigid shopvac and now I'm looking at avoiding the dewalt 1/4 sheet sander just because of the adapter issue. pathetic for an otherwise good brand. Thanks for sharing.
This is mind numbing. Buying a dewalt shopvac to use with you dewalt saws and sanders and not being able to hook them up together is really something else 😑
I'm thinking this is not a mistake made by Dewalt, but rather yet another ploy, concocted by corporate America, to squeeze every last cent out of the working class. Wow, I'm starting to sound like one of those conspiracy theorists. Thanks for the video, though I can't see spending 3000-6000 pennies on pieces of plastic. Guess I'll stick with the packing tape. Ha! I crack myself up sometimes.

Great tip! I will be looking into that hose kit. Thanks for watching!
I subscribed when you said you're a Dewalt fanboy!
Haha thanks! Thanks for watching!
That is good to know. I looked at the Rigid auto detailing kit. I wish DeWalt had more information out there on this. Thanks for watching!
yeah i just talked to "guancarlo" on customer service for 30 minutes and that guy was useless. i have the 35mm black plastic thing coming out of my circular saw and im about to order the same vacuum as you (i think, DCV501HB) after you got the DWV9000
adapter, did you need another piece to connect that to the 1-1/4 hose on the vacuum?
It sure is an issue. For what we pay on the tools the adapters should be included. Thanks for watching!
Well said. Unfortunately I'm to deep on DeWalt tools. Thank you for watching!
Haha. DeWalt is still my favourite. Can't believe you have a list. I might need a copy of that haha. Thanks for watching!
Don’t forget dwv9140 and dwv9150.
Thanks! I think I will be doing a follow up video covering all adaptors. Thanks for watching!
@@danielrouse8472 I have seen some similar stuff 3D printed before actually. That's a great idea.
If you get a Dewalt dust extractor instead of the shop vac it comes with the right interface to fit on their tools. It’s an expensive way to avoid this issue.
Thanks for that tip and thanks for watching.
Great video, definitely not going to consider Dewalt dust collection. Festool looks better.
Glad it helped. Thanks for watching!

Good eye, thanks. I was trying to twist the ring but my adapter was sticking. Thanks for watching.
If you need adapters might as well use a normal vac that your already have
Going through this annoying process right now.
Baught my 60v hipa vac had no problem on my 780 model and my 781 60v mitersaw as well as all my 60v circular saws, etc
Dewalt makes stupid adapter that isn't sold anywhere. Customer has to attach hose to brand new drywall sander with duck tape.
They made it tough for alot of people. Thanks for watching!
Dewalt should include this in their manuals, pretty ridiculous and overcomplicated
They really should. Would make a world of difference. Thanks for watching.
Its retared dewalt doesn't throw in free dust collection adapters with it's expensive shopvacs
It really is unfortunate. Thanks for watching!

The easiest way is do use DeWalt
I agree. Thanks for watching.
Easiest way is to switch to Festool.
If I wasn't so invested in DeWalt tools I'd consider it.
how stupid is DeWalt: Impossible to find the splitter for my dewalt contractors saw and meanwhile I have other brands of tools, including a rigid shopvac and now I'm looking at avoiding the dewalt 1/4 sheet sander just because of the adapter issue. pathetic for an otherwise good brand.
Thanks for sharing.
The adaptor issue is a big one. Thanks for watching!
'Promo SM' 👏
This is mind numbing. Buying a dewalt shopvac to use with you dewalt saws and sanders and not being able to hook them up together is really something else 😑
@@felixlabelle9041 it sure is something else. Thanks for watching!
Definitely not a mistake. Thanks for watching!
