I get being a one brand tool guy for battery tools, but it's better to buy the best specific tool if it's corded. I can tell you for sure, this vacuum from DeWalt can't really compare with other vacuums. I got Makita vacuum (the best value for this price range), and it comes with 3 tool attachments, one small plastic type, one big and one small rubber type. The smaller rubber connector is shaped a way that it fits on EVERYTHING, no matter the brand, and the spare one is less then €15. Always look for the best value.

SAME ISSUE! Thanks for making this video. I think I am ONE step closer to solving my issue, but I wish you would have gone into more detail about the DWV9190... Does it connect to the Rigid hose you mentioned? Will it connect to the hose that comes with your DeWalt vacuum? Would have loved some more commentary about those two systems and how well they play together. I have a Rigid vacuum, and I am desperate to get back to work on my project-Have already bought the "universal connector" (LOL) and will now place an order for the 9190 and hope it does the trick.

The small adapter is meant to screw directly onto a 1.25IN dust collector hose. It really is annoying - and that adapter *doesn't* fit the router dust collection adapters - that needs yet a different one that I don't think DeWalt even makes. I too am a big DeWalt fanbois with a ton of their tools, the best way to do this is order a Cen-tec hose kit with their "Quick-Click" hose attachment adapters. They have them to fit the DeWalt tools, and the hoses are MUCH nicer to use with handheld tools. You can get a kit with the hose and 5-6 adapters for less than $50. It comes with an adapter for the vacuum end of the hose too. More flexible, and you can get MUCH longer hoses. They sell individual adapters for every size connection you can imagine too for ~$5 each. . I have an overhead articulated boom arm with the hose running though it and a remote on-off switch for the vacuum at the end.

So you can turn it on and have it run non-stop if you wanted. It also has a timer setting, so you can set it to run 1, 2, or 4 hours then it will turn off. I will say though that I have noticed that it randomly turns on at times. I have been looking into this and it has something to do with the frequency the remote is on I think. I have been meaning to do an update video on this, should be coming soon. For the price its a good unit, however, the issue of it turning on randomly is not something I like. @northernoutlier thanks! How has the siding held up being attached to furring strips? I know some have concerns about any waviness due to not having a solid surface behind. We're getting ready to side as well, and I have furring strips over exterior foam.

@@johnweninger The siding has held of great. No waviness at all. Just make sure your nailing in the center of the slot, and nailing so it's loose. Leave your gaps on the ends, and only overlap an inch or so and your good. I personally would want that gap just in case any moisture gets behind, then it can breathe a little.

I took a plastic gallon jug and cut the bottom off and trimmed to fit under the oil filter. No mess. Also use the pre-filter over the air filter so it lasts longer.

Thanks for the tips. Good call on the air filter. Thanks for watching!
