Interesting set up just looking at adding a motor to my kayak and the motor could also end up on my 3.6 m drift boat as well. Thinking I might also end up doing a trailer for the yak.
Thanks for the video. This is exactly what I have been looking at. How does the SXW compare to the 24lb motor you had? I know the SXW is a bit heavier. Did it effect the balance of the kayak? Was also thinking of buying the same bracket. I have a K2F 1+1 kayak. Also, how does the battery monitor working on the SXW? I have a King lithium battery too, but not sure if the monitor on the battery box is accurate with lithium batteries. Cheers again.
@@joebaily3728 thanks. I recently sold the kayak as I got a tinny now to take the family out. The 34 lbs motor does have more thrust but probably doesn’t make the kayak go much faster than the 24 lbs one. As you know the kayak doesn’t get on a plane so the maximum speed is limited. Also the SXW is heavier and does tilt the kayak to its side on maximum thrust. At lower speeds it’s okay. In retrospect I would’ve gone for the 24 lbs one with this particular transom mount that I’ve shown in this video. I think the 24 lbs is ideal for a kayak in terms of its weight and speed generated. The battery box is reasonably accurate, only 0.1 Volts off from the reading on the actual motor itself. Good luck and enjoy 👍
