      You may already have ideas for your strength/mobility, but if you don't I highly recommend Megan Dahlman's programs to you. I am your age and tend to handle things similarly to you. I started with her Jumpstart 30 program, but if you are pretty active you could probably start with Get Strong 30. It has lots of mobility and strength and she has the credentials to back it up. My back had been hurting me and when I worked out my knee would hurt, but she takes you through very basic and builds on it. It has been really helpful for me. Just want to share. Happy New Year to you and your clan ❤

      Sweetpea. If you are turning 40, you are already IN your 40th year of life. A baby turns 1 after completing its first year of life.

    We fostered to adopt 3 of our 7 children. Being that 2 of them were children of alcoholics, we chose not to have alcohol in our home. Then one day I went to have a drink (away from kids) and felt the Lord say put it down. Not for you. Done! Don't miss it. Don't need it. Saves money too!

    I really enjoyed and felt a connection with your video today! At 65 I am trying to figure some things out about what I truly enjoy so that I can find moments of joy and success in my every day life. I’m a full time caregiver to my husband with Parkinsons, have 6 kids spread out over the U.S. with their families and I’m trying out how to best do my 4th quarter!! I’m still in great health physically, but struggling in other aspects. We have similar interests and ideas. You gave me some things to think about…thanks 😊

    love this! going off the "better story" -- i think it can be more than just choosing what story you want to make going forward, but also what story do you tell yourself. it is a very powerful exercise, in my experience, to examine the story that we are creating around the circumstances. for example, we don't know what people are actually thinking so we create stories to fill it in. This often leads to self-deprecating and limiting beliefs or assumptions about other people. it actually connects to your last point too!!

    I’m a mesh of all things, I guess a Jill of all trades. Growing up on a farm and then living in urban areas for 20 years there’s a good blend of both worlds to be. Now that I’m back in the country building a farm with my family I am where I’m at my best.
    Just because you’re on a farm raising animals and growing gardens doesn’t mean you should just forget about your appearance. For women we really need to feel pretty about ourselves and if putting on some makeup before cleaning out the chicken coop is what you wanna do, then go for it! 😊

    Angela: Having taught college for years, I would encourage you to take college classes, yes!! You don’t need to pursue a degree, but pursue your passions and curiosity with online or inperson classes. The advantages of classes as opposed to just googling what you want to know: discussions with students and professors that allow you diversity of opinion, conflict resolution, finding out what you don’t know you don’t know!! Education is far more than imparting “information”.

      As a 42-year-old undergraduate student I can tell you that some (most) classes are very painful to go through. It’s just a means to an end for me- a master’s program. There is an enormous gap in life-experience and knowledge between a 20-something year old and us mature students. I wish there was a better system for adult learners.

    • @margiestewart265
      @margiestewart265 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I definitely do not get to have discussions that diversify my opinions.

    • @got_style
      @got_style 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@margiestewart265 Margie, I loved having mature adult students in my classes because they enriched discussion immensely. About 80% of my community-college students were aged 25 and over; they worked, managed families and pursued college courses. In my state university classes, at least 50% of the students were 25 yo and older. So, I am wondering in what type of school you are enrolled, and if you are taking any of your advanced “major” classes yet? The only time I’ve taught predominantly 20 yo’s was at a private university, and yes, they tended toward naïveté or immaturity. Grad school can be much more stimulating and enjoyable, but that also depends upon the type of school and degree program!

    What was the name of the podcast that spoke about rules to bypass decisions- or would you make a video just on that relating to motherhood, homeschooling, homemaker, etc.
    Many Blessings!

    I'm 65 years old, have 2 sons in their 40s and am raising my now teenage grandchildren. I have more energy than all of them. I eat well, sleep well and have a homestead complete with a garden!

    Over time I collected 40 items, some big, mostly small, cheap, free, some from charity shops, some stuff I already had.
    Anyway I gave a huge box of 40 wrapped gifts to my sister, 40 days prior to her 40th birthday.
    So she can open one gift per day leading up to her 40th birthday.
    It was fun for me and fun for her.

    I feel the same way about "living in the both/and.” I have varied interests and really resent being put in a box or category. I don’t see why I can’t love classical music and opera at the same time that I love Stevie Ray Vaughn and Hinder; I love looking “girly” with all the makeup and pretty clothes, and digging a garden. I believe that quality makes us more interesting, and that we can get along with all different types of people because of it. I do resent the algorithms, too, because they only show me one piece of what I’m interested in. We’re multidimensional beings and computers are linear. They're a useful tool, and that’s all, and I won’t be defined by a program.

    I am a woman with so many hobbies and interests that I have never been able to fully fit in with a group or anything. It makes it hard at times because I love gaining new skills and learning all the time. I also was a floater and always have been. . .getting along with everyone and being around everyone.

    Can you make a video on things you think are necessary to teach your kids or moments to try to have or any advice for kids 5 and 6 years old?

      Hi, I have a 5 and 6 year old as well! I try to constantly teach them the steps towards the next thing leading to more independence and self sufficiency based on where they're at. The moments I try to have (or rather not miss) are the talks and questions that show what's on their minds. Just soaking in who they are as individuals. I love seeing their wonderment as they grasp new concepts and ideas. It's such a cool age! Enjoy them!

    I'm a floater, too. I like my nails and hair done, but I also like hunting and fishing. I love sourdough, but also like me some Krispy Kreme. 😂 I have made peace a long time ago, that there's not a category I really fit into. Lol

    At the part of the video with the "both/and" while putting on mascara in leggings and hiking boots. 😂 I tell my kids to be a person of interest (homeschooling thing), which means explore and enjoy different things.

    You are my new favorite TH-cam person... I make bread and can and get into productivity content AND home decor and makeup and fashion and drawing. I'm an feminist and an old fashioned feminine girly, I believe I am equal but very different than my husband and I'm happy to know he is stronger than me but sucks at multitasking. Vive le difference...
