  • I do not encourage anyone to enter culverts, unclog anything, or enter flooded areas as it can easily become deadly without the proper training
I unclog drains for fun in my spare time (I have been trained in culvert inspections for years with private co.) and I am osha trained.
Exploring anything abandoned can be dangerous or deadly without experience. I don't encourage anyone to enter any abandoned structures. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal, and when possible I seek out permission from the owner or local police. I simply go to document its history before it's gone forever and I leave things the way I find them. I only take pictures and only leave footprints. I assume all the risks and responsibility before doing this. Please don't attempt to do this on your own. There could be nails, asbestos, falling concrete, soft floors, animals, or other hazards. Thanks for watching.

I didn't find it creepy at all, it was interesting putting pieces of a former life together, a dad's aftershave, a mom's sewing machine, a child's toys, maybe a grandmother's wheelchair, I like to think it was once a happy home...

Imagine this home thriving in the 1950s.... full of kids, this was a nice house for its time with expensive furniture, butlers pantry etc etc

This house broke my heart. It had all that beautiful woodwork, pocket doors and staircase. Some of that furniture was nice, too. I hope it was appreciated by its owners at least for a while.

The creepiest thing? Those fluorescent tubes glowing in the basement when NO OTHER LIGHTS WORKED and you tried a bunch of switches! It was like something was trying to lure you down there. I held my breath until you got out.

Very spacious and nice house! It's a Shame it wasn't saved earlier. The owners were definitely living well.

The older I get the harder it is to get rid of clutter.

When the tub and sink are in one room and the toilet separate it's called a pullman (named after the train car company that built train cars that way). Many homes up to Edwardians are built that way in the early 1900's. They work well with families and housemates.

Someone grew up here. Someone raised their babies and experienced the love of family, Christmas, Graduations and lazy summer days. The pain of loss, illness and strife too. Many cast shadows on those walls. Grandpa as a toddler to outstretched arms and then for his son, and great-granddaughter. It's hard for us to think of what will be left of our lives when our hearts cease to beat, but it's the quality of that life that really matters most. What we give to others impacts those we leave behind and those not yet here. Everything else is just sand. It all came from the earth and will stay. Like the knick-knacks she so carefully placed on the window that stayed until the machines came to tear it all down.

You should have examined the new water heater near the entrance. It should have had a manufacture date on it, and it probably would give you some reasonable indication of when the building was abandoned.

A family grew up in that home. Parents sent their kids to school, watched them grow older, watched them make their own rooms their own with years of memories attached to the walls, imbued into the foundations. There was summers there where cousins, uncles, aunts sisters and brothers played in the grass, did games in the attic and explored the spooky woods and basement. It had a life. It had a tiny slice of time. Then the kids all went away to the world. The parents grew old and died, and the kids had kids that grew older and had kids too. And one day the home died too, but the memories will live on out in the universe. Another tiny story added to the whole.

So sad, looks like so much family history was in that beautiful old house- such a shame it was demolished - but so glad you got to record it for us. Thanks Post x

It is a sad case to see the house go to this state of neglect. One wonders if it was an older person who has departed this life and as you rightly say somebody has come in and ransacked the place. It is very sad to see the way this house is ending up and ultimately its demolition. It is appreciated that you have recorded this for posterity.

This is the kind of home I'd love to restore to it's original beauty.

I just think it's crazy that that house still had electricity considering how open to the elements it is
