- Stop over packing your suitcase with clothing that you won't even end up wearing on your holiday. I show you my system for packing minimalistically, using mix and match pieces and some general guidelines that will help you pack less for holidays and vacations.

Ha! I am a chronic over-packer. I always get anxiety thinking I will "need' something when I don't. I like this system. Will be in England for 18 days over Christmas, so packing is going to be difficult.

After several trips to uk 🇬🇧, I’ve finally figured what works & doesn’t ...
Also .. can I manage getting up and down those steep uk stairs w/ my luggage ???
On way to and from tube stations .. up and down steep staircases in b&bs or even the person’s house you’re staying at ... you do NOT need to FALL while on vacation 😂

I'm an over packer!!! I will be traveling a lot this summer. I live in the USA. I'm going to Atlanta for a few days. Going to Ecuador for two weeks. Probably going to Florida for a few days. When I return, my husband and I are planning on going to London and Paris. Thank you so much for your advice! I love the idea of taking photos of the outfits you will need. Why didn't I think of that before?

I am primarily a over packer, in all counts of short or long travel. I always bring way too much and most of the items, I don't even wear at all. Thank you so much for your video, it has helped me to stop and rethink, in do I really need so many clothes on my trips etc.

I am definitely an overpacker! And idc what anyone says, I will continue to be an overpacker! You never know what you might need/want, and if it fits, why not?? 🤷🏼♀️ Better safe than sorry!!
Im horrible at over-packing lol, but recently have begun to minimalize my life, so now I only keep my very favorite clothes, shoes, etc. I do really like the way you have planned out your itinerary and have specific outfits for those situations, your ideas will be very helpful, thank-you ;-)

In regards the topic, I am not just an over-packer, I tend to buy clothes from stores in the city/country I am in (yes, even when I have more than enough clothes to wear for the whole trip).

I always forget to match my outfits with my shoes...Great TIP! I've recently discovered packing cubes and will be using them for the first time this coming trip, I'm super excited as I am an organizing freak lol good video!

my husband is an overpacker but he is being doing the photos of outfits before travelling, thought he was the only one doing something like that and I was surprise to see it now.

Until now I was an overpacker, mostly because I started packing way too late. After a month of traveling with a way too heavy backpack I hope I'll do a better job this time! But England in winter is hard, you need all the heavy and huge things! Thanks for your tips, I'll start packing now and plan outfits properly this time!

Definitely overpacked, but I have learned how to travel in only a small roller bag and a carry on that sits on top of my roller bag. I roll them both right on to the plane!! Never have to worry about my luggage arriving when I do.

Great guide. I used to be an over-packer but now I do more or less as shown. It's really great if you can get an idea of the weather although that's not easy... especially for Britain! I'm off to Italy first week of November and it's pretty difficult. It could be sunny and quite warm but there could be storms, wind etc some days. I have to pack more for a week there than I do for three months in Asia! I can do three months in Asia with a carry on :-)
Hey Carolyn, if you check the weather like a day before you go, that will help narrow it down :) Plus, pack layers so you can adjust for different temps!
An EXTREMELY cold June weekend in Vienna taught me to ALWAYS take my DocMartens and a fleece . I always pack warm socks, umbrella and a warm Zara scarf even if I'm travelling in the middle of summer. Cheers from Poland:)))

OMG !! I've been doing your no.1 to no.3 .for decades !! Lol. And I agree with you on black leggings ( leather ,or pleather ,or even cotton ,but dressier ones ! ) & a crispy white shirt so on 100 % !! I always pack black outfits !! And neutral bras !! Those are the keys to travel light !! I lay my outfits on my bed instead ,though ! Lol.
Only thing I disagree is reg.something extra ! I always have plan A to C !!! As unexpected things can happen ! Like a weather issue ,or get sick so on ! Or simply I don't look good in the particular colour that day ! Lol. Or somebody invites me to a formal event/ party ,so on ! Or I get a stain ,or damage my dress & don't have the time to fix it ! The worst scenario is my luggage getting lost, or stolen !! So , I always bring one or two dressier clothes, or dresses !! As well as 1 extra underwear ! As an accident can happen ! Lol.And I always pack very essential things in my carry on luggage 🧳& also separate clothes in both carry on & checking luggage !! In case of getting lost ,or stolen ! A long time ago ,my old friend came here without her luggage !! As hers got to some another country by an airport worker's mistake !! So ,she had to wear the same clothes for two days in a row !! She couldn't change it for a very nice dinner with us ,either ! LOLLOLLOL. 😅💜🥁🐉🎵🎤🎶💞

Definitely an over-packer. But I'm determined on this trip to England, Wales and Scotland (21 days) to only bring one medium sized suitcase and one backpack. I have lots of travel days planned and don't want to be dragging around a lot of baggage. Wondering if I may have to make time to try to get some laundry done.
i’m an over packer and i don’t wear half the clothes i bring but then i don’t bring enough of the clothes i do actually wear, like you. this year, i’m going to florida for spring break, i’m stressed bc last year we had a washer/dryer and i wasn’t as worried but this year we don’t and i’m afraid of not having enough clothes and yeah

I am a chronic OVER-PACKER, and with my first-ever European trip coming up, I want to look reasonably chic without lugging and paying for extra s@&*! (Example: 1st time I went to Maui, Hawaii I took SEVEN pairs of shoes, two casual dresses AND two dressier dresses, four swimsuits, two cover-ups...You get the picture.) That time it was no big deal; in England, France, the Netherlands, and N. Germany, I need to be a LOT LIGHTER. I love your plan for organizing. You are fun and easy to watch. ;-)

I take a photo of me wearing my planned travel wardrobe so I know for sure it works for me. I normally only use carry on for 13 day trips (Europe) or 7 day trips (Caribbean). My London in January trip wardrobe will fit into a knapsack,(at least that's my goal).

i am an underpacker. i refuse to check baggage regardless of the length of my trip. went to Ireland 3 years ago in a 20 inch duffel bag. heading on a 7 night cruise plus 3-4 nights in London in a 16 in backpack, we will see how that goes lol

unfortunately I am an over packer. I have been working on packing less which is how I got to your video. My boyfriend lives in Copenhagen so going from the US frequently can be expensive. I'm learning to only take a carry-on and save money.

I use Stylebook to do the outfits instead of taking photos. It's handy as I can style outfits wherever I am and whenever I want to. Plus the app can generate a packing list, which is nice.
I used to be a helpless over packer when I still had a big suitcase, until that broke... These days I still pack around 1 piece of clothing too many than strictly necessary, but I am not bringing a lot as I can't! Then these days I have only a super narrow, easy-jet compatible suitcase so that's smallish. I'm in trouble when I take a trip with an airline like Swiss, where one checked item is free and 1 hand luggage is as well. I then lend a slightly bigger trolley from my partner and take a huge messenger bag... Uggg. Too heavy for my tiny frame. This summer I wanna take my better half's trolley and only a handbag (size L Le Pliage bag) for a carry-on.

Definitely an underpacker. I was able to fit all my things in a medium size messenger bag when I went overseas (4 days and 3 nights)

think , i am a perfect packer when i go for travel, i prefer 2 bags only. one on shoulder and one thing is smaller to easy carryon with necessary important needs only.

I pack in the middle sort of, like I will take extra things but it's not to much and not to little and I am going on vacation this year and and going to pack me my mom and my brothers cause ul I want just a couple bags to take to the hotel cause last time we took 10 bags and half of them we didn't even use so I am going to pack for all of us😂😂

I'm an over-packer but will try not to add an extra outfit or two because I want to have space to take back anything I buy without a hassle. I've made that mistake in the past that you reminded me of.

Don't waste space by taking clothes you don't wear. Next time I shall pack what I actually wear and am comfortable in.
They might be nice, but if they're not a favourite, don't bother.

You obviously aren't traveling for weeks at a time. An outfit per day would not work for me when we travel for 3 weeks. It's knowing where we can do laundry that is important. If it were up to my husband, we'd travel with carry-on only. Thank goodness I've talked him out of that! Your videos are very good and informative, but this one doesn't work for me. Perhaps you could do another for extended trips - or direct me to one you've already done.
+Diane in CA hi Diane, I reuse pieces for each outfit so actually, this system can work for longer trips too. And for a 3 week trip, I'd create a week's worth of outfits and then repeat, it's definitely not realistic to have different outfits everyday for 3 weeks.
Diane Schenkelberg its a simple guide, so obviously you wouldn't use her guide WORD for WORD. You'd adjust based on your needs. OBVIOUSLY.

Anna S i am on my 10 day overseas trip right now ... oh gosh did I pack inappropriately!!! Its so HOT where we are and the 12 hour flight was SO HOT I had sweat rolling down my back & I went to restroom and took off layering pieces!!! I also was put on an antibiotic the day before the flight that disagreed with my stomach so I was suffering with explosive diarrhea. Miserable!!! Another point: Do NOT bring any stuff (clothes or cosmetics) that you have NEVER USED OR TRIED ON BEFORE THE TRIP!!! Big huge mistake!!!

Why not invest in some of the newer underwear out that you can wash and it will be dry in a few hours or overnight at most. Then you can still cut back on the underwear, yet have enough for your trip. My husband and I just got back from an 8 day cruise sharing a medium sized suitcase, using packing cubes, my undies- 5 pairs, 3 swimsuits and 2 bras in a small-medium cube, and 4 or 5 tops, 3 pairs of capris, 1 long pair of slacks and 1 dress in a larger-medium cube, 2 pairs of sandals, along with an empty xlarge cube for dirty clothes in my half of the case. My husband packed a similar amount of clothes in cubes and 1 pair of shoes in his half of the case and we still had quite a bit of room left in the case for shopping. We also each took our own carryon with our meds, a spare outfit in case the suitcase didn’t make it to our destination, my purse, 2 cameras and our toiletries. In mine, I also had some knitting and an iPad and a book. The suitcase weighed in at 26 lbs going (just over half of the allowance for 1 person) and coming home 37 lbs. still well under the allowable weight for 1 person. Next time we are going to try and do even better.
