Northeast Ohio weather forecast: Widespread snow moves in Friday

Your 6 p.m. Northeast Ohio weather forecast for Jan. 9, 2025: The sunny skies were nice to see Thursday, unfortunately the bright conditions will be brief. Our next chance of snow will be arriving by Friday afternoon. Friday evening into Saturday is a Weather Impact Alert Day due to widespread snowfall creating slick travel.
Your morning drive will uneventful with frigid temperatures in the mid-to-low 10s.
Locally, we'll see a steady light to moderate snow move in across all of northern Ohio Friday afternoon into that evening commute. Roads are expected to get tricky for the Friday evening commute and your Friday evening plans. Snow will transition to lake effect snow on Saturday before coming to an end.
We're expecting an area-wide 2 to 5 inches of snow with a few additional inches possible with the lake effect on Saturday.
We'll catch a break from the action on Sunday with yet another system expected to swing through with more snow Monday, leading to much colder air and several days of lake effect snow next week!
