By far the best pack/outdoor/gear content on TH-cam. As others have fallen by the wayside, JB continues to provide valuable reviews on a consistent basis. Thanks!
Very good presentation of this cool bag. I went for the same company's X-Pack EVO Sling L because I've already got several bacpacks. I also bought the coooolest wallet on Earth, their Annex 360 wallet sling. That thing can be on a strap, tucked into another sling, but the Code Of Bell has it's own way of thinking about bags, and it's unique to all models. There's always a thought behind every piece on or inside their bags. Yes, too manybstraps and small parts that can easily fall off (like the side handle on the EVO) but that says more about my handling of ghebstuff I'm carrying…. Anyway, as soon as they're back in the production, I'll be getting the Annex Case, the Annex laptop case (to add it to my EVO sling), and maybe also the Double Name Project X- Pod. Lots of stuff is sold out right now, the demand is obviously high. Cheers!
I like that COB pushes the boundaries and it very creative with what they make. This is a great example. That said, I’m not sure I’d actually like using this thing. Could go either way. It’s weird, lol.
Interesting pack, nicely sized and probably a good niche bag for anyone needing to carry a lot of tech. Btw, I loved the little pack dance at the beginning. I wish I needed it just for the cool factor.
Could you please describe how waterproof the bag is? The product webpage is a bit sparse on the waterproofing details. Are the seams taped/welded? Can i trust the backpack to keep my laptop safe and dry in a full-on downpour?
I think the design is very well made and will keep everything dry. Also the back placement of the laptop compartment is further protected. Unfortunately I haven't done a soak test on it though.
@@JBOutside1 You said you may change another fidlock chest strap instead of the original one. I'm wondering that you may let me know the name or brand of that.
I’m considering this, the Remote Equipment Alpha 31 and the Attitude supply ATD1 as my next purchase. Finding it hard to decide but I’m leaning towards the Alpha 31. Do you have any experience with those other two bags?
I have it also it's a great bag and a great sling but the sling needs a little bit of padding. I supplemented one so the strap doesn't dig into the shoulder.
Feels lots bigger and the back panels is a MUCH larger footprint for most laptops. I wouldn’t even really compare them directly because of the massive difference in pockets and design
Issues w the bag: the compression straps (the one that looks like a skateboard holder) is just a hook so if you forget to tighen up your straps it can bounce out of the hook and you lose them. The sling version has the hooked closed off so it cant fall off. The backpacked has hooks on both connections points. I'm waiting for the day i have to rebuy them and they tell me i cant buy them .
I dropped my MacBook on day 1 using this bag. The rear compartment can open flat. This means your laptop can slide out because there is NO mechanism to secure it at the top of the laptop sleeve! BIG MISS! They could have added a simple Velcro closure strap. Something you can find on a $15 backpack.
Agreed but I give CoB credit because they actually pull off something new. The patterning for this bag must require so much more spatial/topographical brainpower than your average rectilinear design. Novel, but also impressive and well executed.

Thanks Luke!! Tell your friends! Like maybe 93,000 of them 🤣
Awesome vid as usual JB! Best bag review channel, awesome detail and variety of packs!
Thanks!
Great review, I'm definitely trying out this bag for EDC.
Nice! 👊🏻

You’re right. Lots of cool stuff!!

I can see that

Haha, it IS a cool one.
How thick is the laptop compartment? I have a laptop that’s thicker than a macbook pro and wondering if it will fit..
Uh, not sure. Out of town for the week so won’t be able to test for a bit
Does the buckle at the rear panels feels uncomfortable when wearing the bag? Do you feel it?
I haven’t noticed it
That "hip belt" is perfect as a strap for a hip pack
yup
i'm hesitating between this one and the evergoods mountain Panel Loader 22L. Any advice?
Too fantastic options. Personal choice really. The MPL is a lot simpler layout. Good luck!
@JBOutside1 thank you

Does the clip on the bottom of the back panel not dig into your back ?
No. It’s recessed between the back padding, which is very thick.
Hey there. Nice review covering the whole backpack! Thank you. Is there anything close to the look of this backpack but with a 30 litres capacity?
There’s nothing like this one. Very unique. Plenty 30L bags though
Whats the weight oif this bag ?
2.5 lbs. Sorry for the delay. Been traveling!!
Just world like to know the name of buckle/backpack which you say to upgrade the x-type, thzzzz.
I guess I don’t understand what you’re asking?
@@JBOutside1 You said you may change another fidlock chest strap instead of the original one.

@@peterwong3420 I will try a Thermal Lift Workshops or something from another bag I have.
@@JBOutside1 thx bro. Also i tried to use able carry one but not fit as well.

Unfortunately no. Those are some great bags though. I just haven’t gotten around to them yet.
good review!........gotta get one of these packs!
It’s a VERY cool one
No, you don’t need this bag. You want this bag but you don’t need it. If you’re looking for a sign, this is it.
Haha, thanks!
I have it also it's a great bag and a great sling but the sling needs a little bit of padding. I supplemented one so the strap doesn't dig into the shoulder.
How big is it in comparison to a bullet?
Feels lots bigger and the back panels is a MUCH larger footprint for most laptops. I wouldn’t even really compare them directly because of the massive difference in pockets and design
@@JBOutside1 thanks! That's what I was afraid of I love the bag but I think it's too big for me
This entire backpack cannot fit a 16 in macbook pro?
Unfortunately I don't have a 16" MBP to test out but based on how my 14" fits it would be tight
16" mbp fits perfectly.

Good to know...thanks!
Looks a bit cyberpunk and overly complicated for my tastes. Think it's a "love or hate" bag!
Probably true 😜

Cool review but almost 300 bucks, pass.
If you haven't heard of Life behind bars, their bags are worth reviewing
It's a bit pricey for sure. I'll go check that out!
