I'm positive +21/+6, it's more comfortable for my knees. I started like many in duck +15/-12, then quickly +15/-9, +18/-6.... until now. I think that's the beauty of snowboarding compared to skiing (I don't know how to ski 🤣🤣) but the diversity of board stance angles is fantastic, that's why i love snowboard 😊

Duck style is the perfect and comfortable position for me! Amazing information.

I took up snowboarding as a more serious hobby last season and I've watched so many videos on stance angles and width. I think your explanation has been the most helpful to me because after some basic rules you suggest intuition. Angles really should be based on how it feels and some personal testing! I've been skateboarding and surfing for 30 years. In both your stance angles tend to be positive positive. Obviously they aren't fixed and you move around a lot. But after lots of testing (and I'm still testing), having a negative angle on my back foot feels totally off. And I attribute that to being a skateboarder and surfer first. If I'd started out snowboarding in the 90's l am certain I'd be riding duck. I love your videos by the way. Thanks!

Thanks for the video. I ride my front left foot at zero, and my back right foot at + five. Weird, I know. I am bowlegged, and it makes my right knee feel better if the back right foot is slightly turned in. I’ve been snowboarding for about 30 years and mostly board powder now and my slightly wider stance helps as well with the pow and balance. Great advice you had to test out different stances.

I hadn't messed with my stance in forever, and last season found myself sitting way too far on my heel side due to boots getting a smaller and smaller footprint as time goes on. I used to mount centered on the board, but now have to move them as close to the toe edge as possible to avoid being heel heavy.
I can't even ride 10 year old setups anymore because the bindings are too big.
Anyways, yeah... play with your stance, find out what works, and every so often play with it again.

I've made my first steps on really slender race boards with wedged rear over two decades ago and I'm still really missing the option to wedge softboot bindings, even if it's just ever so slightly. You seem pretty much as knowledgeable as it gets about general stuff - is there really no option to wedge softboots?

You'll find that a lot of higher end bindings nowadays do have somewhat of a canted footbed to help straighten out your ankles a bit and reduce fatigue, but its not a lot. Usually around 3-5 degrees but definitely not as much as a lot of the old race setups had with the big cants.

Great stuff as always. Thank you. I have my bindings on my burton custom camber set to the recommended location which i believe is a half inch back of center towards the tail. If i move them to center how much easier will it make it to ride switch? How much will alter/take away from my regular direction dialed in directional free riding?

Honestly it’s such a slight set back that you might not notice a difference in the ride. When it comes to the setback most of the time you just need to play with it a bit. The nice thing is you can always move it back.

Just started snowboarding, and, in the rental they gave me something like 0/0 on the first day, and second day some great angles (felt like 15+) on the front foot, i found it much more harder to control the board this way, like if my rear foot was always kinda loose and i had to applya lot of force to not go backside os switch, and i also fell a lot.
whats the recomended stance for a begginer? 0/0 ? start with low duck angles? low angle front foot and 0 back?

Little off topic, chamniox boards, is that a line of boards you still have access to. They are a perfect board for young kids. My 9-year-old rips the tread lightly

That was just a little side company owned by The House. Boards were made in the Nitro factory so check out the Nitro boards (like the Spirit and Ripper) if she needs new gear. Very similar shapes and pretty much identical constructions -> www.peterglenn.com/category/snowboard/snowboards?filters=im_vid_6:48

You ride switch with both of your bindings on positive? I have 15 in front and -3 in back. Just starting snowboarding. A total of 8 times. But I find it hard to ride switch. I can easily get to switch. I’m just wondering if that’s what you do. Bc if so I’ll keep trying. (Aiming to be an all mountain rider)

I do ride both bindings forward. 15 in the front and 3 in the back for all mountain/park and then 18, 6 for freeride. For riding switch its just a matter of turning my head a bit and not my body so much. I just like the comfort of the forward forward stance and its easier on the knees. Keep your eyes peeled too as we have some "How To Ride" vids coming soon, including a "how to ride switch" video.

Looking to get my 2nd board. I'm more of a freestyle. I like turning the whole mountain to my park not just the park itself. Get more playtime that way haha. What's your suggestion between going Spring Break Resort Twin or Never Summer Proto Slinger?
      Thanks for the helpful vids!!!

@@ClintK. Both boards are great, very similar riding styles. Proto Slinger would handle outside the park a tiny bit better. Can’t go wrong either way though www.peterglenn.com/category/snowboard/snowboards?filters=im_vid_6:852
