Honey it WAS the bomb. I'm 74 and thought I made a great roast buttttttt, pretty lady you are one fine cook. Never had a better tasting piece of meat. Wanted to drink the gravy. This Texan takes her hat off to you. I'll be waiting for more recipes. Kathleen
I make this at least once a month. I add carrots, onions, potatoes, mushrooms and celery to mine and we eat it with rice or mashed potatoes and corn bread. I freeze the leftovers to eat later and its still so delicious! This is one of my family's favorite dishes!
@@alizehustle9385 I add a can of Campbells golden mushroom soup to mine and about a half can of water. The roast makes its own liquid and also liquid comes out of the veggies. If you need more liquid you can add some at any time.
What I love about this recipe is that it does not have all the typical crap that almost every other pot roast recipe copies, add nauseum; large chunks of onions, carrots, potatoes, mushrooms, etc. Yours is just yummy goodness as the basic palatte. It is just what I was looking for.
Made this tonight, followed every detail and OH MY GOODNESS! I couldn’t stop smiling! I felt so proud of myself because there was no small talk at the dinner table tonight just cute little faces and my husband devouring their food ☺️🤭
Hi Rose! Well, my roast is in the oven - with 1.5 hours to go. Hubby just got home and first thing out of his mouth was ‘Hmmmm...something sure smells good!´ And, it DOES! We can hardly wait! Thank you for the recipe! Cate
This is at least my 30th time making this recipe! I tweaked it for what I have on hand (tossing root vegetables in that cast iron pot with the roast after searing). It’s so good every single time! Your spice combo is exactly as stated: the bomb!!! This is a fantastic recipe!
Made this tonight and it was absolutely outstanding! Tender, delicious and flavorful! I made mash potatoes in my instapot and then spooned the roast over the top. Truly one of the best recipes I have tried on you tube! Thank you for sharing!!!!
All your dishes are a hit in my household my kids think I became a overnight chef lol 😂 because your recipe is so easy to follow I’ve been making all of them and they all taste amazing
Dont usually comment but omg this was an amazing dish! It's my second time making this, super delicious very mouth watering! It makes the whole house smell so yummy 😁 thank you for making it easy to follow through love your recipe videos! Now my question is how long should we cook it for if we want to do it on the crocpot instead of oven ...?
Just made this today and followed your recipe to the t. It’s already gone. Me and bae loved it. I think I will be making this again this week. Thank u ❤️ . So tasty.
Pro tip: to sear your beef, use a neutral, high heat oil like grapeseed, avocado, peanut, or corn/soy. Both butter and olive oil will burn at searing temperatures and give off bad tastes and free radicals.
Not necessarily. Gordon Ramsey sears his steaks in olive oil with some butter. I'm not sure why it doesn't burn, though I know he says the olive oil keeps the butter from burning. All I know is in the end, I have amazing tasting steaks every time!
Listen, I am far from a good cook but THIS !! I followed to the recipe to a T and it came out delicious. Thank you for sharing and allowing me to grace my home with this wonderful meal 👌🏾
Hi Rose!!! That looks so great. I never brown my roasts but I see how nice the gravy looks I will try it next time. Nice recipe. My 👄 mouth is watering!!!
Thank you for this recipe. Today is the third time I've used this recipe. This time I cooked it in a crockpot and last time in the oven. Its good either way. Again, thank you.
I just made this and it’s 10 out of 10! So good! I’m learning to cook through you. I added potatoes and carrots toward the beginning of cooking and they came out very very soft. If you want them firmer maybe add them an hr into cooking? Either way it tastes great.
Making this tonight for my fam with a roast we got from a local farm! Thanks for the recipe can't wait to try it! We are doing it like yours tonight with Mash and some fresh (not frozen) green beans on the side as well for some green veggie! Can't wait my wife and 3 kiddos are going to love it... probably for ME most of all hehe ;)
Great job cooking it for 3 hours. I hate seeing videos that say 90 minutes. Sure, it's cooked - but it's still tough. It really needs that 3 hours to become delicious. But if you're gonna put potatoes or carrots in your roast you don't do it at the start. You do it about 30 minutes before it's finished. If you add potatoes and carrots from the start you end up with pure mush. By waiting until the end, they keep their form. They're still soft, but they don't just melt away. Also I always flip my roast half-way through. That way both sides get that extra "crust" that gives a nice contrast between the buttery soft interior and the meaty exterior.
I cooked pot roast for the first time today. I didn’t have two of the ingredients so I had to improvise. But omg it turned out so tender and delicious. I will never order pot roast in a restaurant again, I’ll be cooking my own. Thanks so much for sharing this recipe.
I just made this tonight slight change in liquid.... I had no stock so I used red wine. still fantastic......I'm trying your garlic butter shrimp tomorrow thank you for the great recipe
This dish is simply amazing. I made it a few Sundays ago and my whole family lapped it up. It is Sunday today and I have another pot roast in the oven. This time I only used salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and parsley for the dry seasonings. I am anxious to see how it turns out. Yes, I added the chopped onions, minced garlic, Worcestershire, corn starch, broth, etc.....This is FABULOUS with mashed potatoes. I will let you know how my Sunday pot roast turns out today. Stay tuned!
Instead of beef broth, use vegetable broth. It adds a deeper layer of flavor and makes the finished product less greasy. Beef broth already has oils and the roast also lets out grease when slow cooking.
I'm a fan. Funny the first time I made this I didn't see the ingredient list and just went off the video. I made a pretty good guess, came out out fantastic and I'm making it again right now. I didn't add anything else because the gravy came out so good, it is a must for potatoes! YUM.
Thank you for sharing this recipe. I'm making this for tonight's dinner. My parents are coming over. I hope it turns out as delicious as it looks on video.
I made this today and followed the recipe exactly the way she has it posted. All I can say it this is the best pot roast I’ve ever cooked. I put mine in the oven in a dutch oven. My husband is going in for seconds lol. Thanks for sharing. Simply delicious 😋😋😋😋😋😋
Made this today and it was soooo good omg! I followed the video from start to finish. I will definitely be making this agin and can’t wait to make other dishes
Made it! And it is wonderful!! I made it like you and made my mashed potatoes separate. I can definitely see making it with the potatoes, carrots, onions, awesome recipe! Thanks dear!
This was delicious! I have probably not had roast in years. Usually the “elders” make it in my family. I made this, and my parents enjoyed it. My sauce didn’t turn out very thick, though, so maybe next time I’ll add a little extra cornstarch.
