Tim Buckley opening the Knebworth festival . July 20th 1974 . This was his first UK appearance since 1968, and sadly it was also to be his last. Sweet Surrender .
This was the first set from the first Knebworth show ever i have a poster for it, the full line up was: The Allman Brothers, Van Morrison, The Doobie Brothers, mahavishnu orchestra, Sensational Alex Harvey Band, and Tim Buckley. Now that's quite a line up!
I travelled from Dorset with my girlfriend Sue. It was an amazing day; hot and sunny. Sue got heatstroke and I had to carry her through the vast throng of spectators to a St John's first aid tent. Thankfully she recovered. A day to remember for ever!
This was my first festival aged 16!! And what a scorcher it was albeit a one dayer. Some of the best acts of the era. I was transfixed and watched every act. I recall it started as a cloudy day for the first two acts and then the sun shone brightly.
I was there with some mates. One mate drove us from Wellington, Somerset in a bloody Riley Elf. The low point, although not their music's fault was John McGlaughlin & the Mahavishnu Orchestra. Too much beer, a baking hot day and a headache doesn't set up a listeners experience for John's piercing high pitched guitar. Great times though. I'll never forget it.
I was at this festival and enjoyed it all but I only went to see Mahavishnu, to be honest. I remember Alex Harvey pretty much stole the show. The Doobies, fantastic and the Allman Bros were a bit of a let down. I was 18 at the time and I've still got the little poster advertising the event. Great times. Some one should have filmed it all! thanks for posting this clip!
Tim du bist in meinem ganzen Leben immer mit dem Song, bei mir gewesen, bis heute! Danke
I was there. Hard to believe 50 years have passed

Wow!
I was there with a mate from Anglesey, which was where I lived then for a few months. Great day.
I was there too!
I went to Knebworth this year but he was on so early we missed him... my only chance to see him live.
And I saw my all time later music hero Van Morrison. Great days indeed.
An Amazing line up 💗💗
thanks for this. I went, and the whole thing was good, but even then I was feeling the change from the sixties to the seventies, musically
