  • After several failed attempts, the Reform party leader has finally been elected as an MP.
Mr Farage took Clacton in Essex from the Conservatives with almost 50% of the vote. 21,225 votes v Con: Giles Watling 12,820.
He steered Reform to four seats so far and the third-highest share of the vote.
In his victory speech, Mr Farage called the result 'truly extraordinary' and warned Keir Starmer that he's coming for Labour next.

@@myoldtapes9187Tories are too far left now anyway. They are basically the same as Labour. That has been shown over the last 14 years. It's the left that worry so much about PR as they know the system would then not be corrupt in their favour. Labour got about 2% more vote share than when they lost to tories in 2019 yet ended up with about 2/3 of the total seats. Reform got about 4 million votes and 5 seats as now has been counted due to the miscount in Basildon but Lib Dem got half a million less votes and ended up with about 65 more seats. It's a system that doesn't properly represent the people. Anyone that denies it is simply down to the fact that it's in their favour.

Reform has every chance of power after the next General Election. Reform must build a well managed efficient party in touch with the wishes of the British people. We are tired of uncontrolled borders, of British people seemingly taking second place to the interests of others. We are tired of a lack of pride in who the British are, our values, our history and the lack of an excellent vision for our future and for our young people in particular.

We should have proportional representation so people can vote for policies they actually want instead of voting for social issues all the time. The media is a huge pain this country. There’s no such thing as left wing policies that ‘benefit the vast majority of people’…..it’s communism and that is forced mediocrity at best and destitution at worst…but it’s ok because at least we’re all equally poor. Starmer will have upset everybody before 6 months are up. This is just perfect for Reform. Starmer is a clown puppet and his strings are being pulled. Starmer has no answer to the big problems and no idea how to solve them. I don’t know how or even why, people have put him in as a PM. He is no leader and will be easily forgotten in history. It will be one of the biggest majorities that turns into one of the greatest losses. 😂😂😂 8:59

when i hit my 30s i wondered why we had one way of voting and the European Government another sadly my vote has never been counted in my area even though i voted 7 times in elections if we go to proportional representation at least my vote will count to the hole and help the party i like the most.

I have seen for myself the neglect of communities in the areas where reform have won, good thing about reform is they are part of the population of the UK and see themselves as such.

Saying Nigel isn't far right. Or Right at all but centrist. Had to dislike because the old lady wasn't being listened to. That is not a credible reporting style. It's a legitimate concern that Nigel can step back and say he didn't say something and nobody will bat an eye. If you're such a popular figure that nobody will criticise you then that means you can do anything.

Reform is going to grow hugely now. A labour government is just what is required at this time for reform to grow . Watch this space.

For a party thats very new reform have had great results.
Was it just a knee jerk reaction against conservatives and labour, I can't say no. But that shows an opportunity for them if they can move forward.

If someone racist showed up to campaign for Labour for 5 minutes, no one would care, and this guy would not be attacking the Labour party over it. It’s not condoning what he said to point out he’s an actor who was likely paid for this performance.

Every labour mistake now will become a Reform vote, especially as no one will vote tories again anytime soon.
Labour was off to a great start yesterday via the Rwanda scheme and no replacement deterrent.
The issue is, the more labour let in, process and give passports too, the more he builds a following of non british people to vote for him next time
