Shane I don't think you receive nearly enough credit for the work you do on this channel. I've watched your videos the last 5 years I've been in college on and off. Thank you.
It’s 3am and I’m working nights at my factory job. I’ve been here for the last 10 years. Thank you Shane and also shoutout to Josh for the insight on this school. You guys convinced me to get my degree in IT & start a career in Cybersecurity. I got married a couple months ago. The best method for surpassing college the fastest is taking AP classes (you have to pass the exams), dual credit classes (through community college), IB exams, CLEP exams, high scores on the SAT or ACT, summer school classes. Please take advantage of these opportunities in highschool or K-12, because I definitely missed out, and have to take the standard course load at a community college then university, knock those generals out in highschool and get your Associates!!
I'm a huge fan of online-first education: I'm almost done with my MS in Computer Science from Georgia Tech completely online with a total cost of ~$8,000. The idea of speedrunning a degree at any pace and testing-out of almost any class in a program makes me very skeptical. These programs seem too transactional to be considered equivalent to a 4-year education. I'm glad these options exist for students and challenge the status-quo of accredited education, but I still wish "traditional" universities would add more affordable online programs to legitimize these nontraditional pathways.

Hey! Shane, I know that this video is not related to this, but I was wondering if being a MRI tech is a good idea. I'm going to be a senior in high school and that interests me. What are your thoughts on that career? Thanks
It's a great idea. You can become a MRI Tech in 2 years by taking a dedicated MRI program at a community college or hospital based program or take the traditional route which is an X ray program for 2 years and a 6 month MRI program after you pass your X Ray registry . The 6 month program can be taken online or in person after you pass your registry. I was an CT Tech for 19 years. I currently work in Radiology Informatics.
I've been wondering, Is this avaliable only for high-school graduates? Since where I live we have options to earn a bachelor's while still in high-school. The degree depends on how fast you complete it (as it is also online), But it's still something which might take 3 years, like a normal degree.

Unfortunately, WGU is not available for those outside the US. However, look into some of the other colleges that faciliate this method to get similar results (probably a bit longer though)
I've been looking into this as I am from the UK and there is no way to get a degree here in under 3 years. Unfortunately like shean said WGU does not accept international students, but TESU excelsior and UMPI do. Each have their own pros and cons and you need to do a little research and see what you want to do in the future and which university gets you the closet to what you want. Examples WGU only uses pass/fail and the gpa is always 3.0 so some people who wish to do masters think this might hinder them being accepted into graduate programs. TESU needs you to take 16 credits with them otherwise you need to pay a residency waiver fee to graduate of about 3.5k$ UMPI is extremely affordable at 1400$ for 8 weeks and you can take as many classes as you want but they don't have wide selection of degree subjects.
I'll give you rundown on WGU since I'm doing it also. It's self-paced university that only gives a Pass/no pass grade. If you do your research, and if you go grad school, some colleges will not accept more than a certain number of Pass/no pass grades on transcript. So, you get what you pay for I guess, it's one of the cheapest colleges also.
Before watching the video, my guess: go for an associate's, complete every single dual enrollment and AP class provided by your high school and get credits, cut one of two years. The questions are, 1) wouldn't doing all these AP exams cost more than a year in community college, 2) wouldn't it be better to go to a top tier university that would probably accept you with all these credits, and 3) wouldn't you die of exhaustion doing so many advanced classes in high school?
