Your are screwed now. Start saving money for a second wheel, because you will be addicted.
Thanks for the comment. It's been a slow and frustrating start, hard to get the hang of it, until I realized I can adjust the pedal hardness and balance angle, now it's easier, hoping to get the hang of it by end of week. I've only had 20 mins a day to practice (so far) but today I made it a few feet and it felt great. It's just like learning to ride a motorcycle, clumsy and awkward and then it starts to feel smooth and natural. Bought this one hoping it will hold my interest longer before I want a faster one.
@@BklynOutdoors don’t give up but do take breaks. It took me about a week to get comfortable on a V10. But, I still was very wobbly and turns were still very hard for me. Then winter came so the wheel just sat in my garage for about 3 months. Surprisingly, when I started back up again, it just clicked and turning were not hard anymore, then I started to take longer and longer trips. Gears then got better, then I moved to a Sherman Max, rest is history. Currently, EUC = Life. I ride daily, even in the rain. I also added a Sherman suspension to my collection as well and will probably add another jump wheel before next summer. Don’t give up and keep at out, it’s absolutely worth it!!
Oh one more thing, for now make sure you have a bicycle helmet and some light bicycle gloves. As you get faster, eg above 25 mph, make sure to upgrade your protection as well.
@@KevinRedmondWA thanks for the encouragement and advice. I have no plans on quitting, I can already feel how fun its going to be. My personal best was about 20 ft down my driveway but it felt great. Got some wrist guards and knee and elbow pads, but just ordered knee and shin pads, took a hard hit from the unit itself to my shin and my older body doesn't bounce back as easy as it used to. Once I get faster I'll probably just switch to my old motorcycle gear until I can get some more specific gear for the wheel. With any luck I'll be able to make riding videos by Spring.
@@BklynOutdoors The skill will come all of a sudden in a big burst sometimes - you'll wobble around for a few days then bang you'll suddenly ride 10 miles without thinking :)
@@yarnf I'm already seeing that... very exciting, can't wait to go on long rides
Congratulations on such a great pick as a first wheel, once you have learned to ride it is an amazing way to get around and no other pev comes close to the feeling.
Sold my fast e-bike so I don’t have to worry about it being stolen while in the shop as you take it with you and can easily put it in the car. Also climbs hills so much easier and faster.
You can also lower your psi if you need help to balance when learning as it helps to keep it upright.
Thank you, I am getting better, only have 15 to 20 mins each day to practice, but soon I will have more time. Each time I get on it feels more natural. I heard about the PSI, right now I have it at around half the suggested pressure and it's helped with stability. Might make a short video of my progress... if I can get out before the sun sets (otherwise it's too dark for recording).
I am over 50 and that's the model of my choice. Properly set, it rides so soft and it has great features despite being below 30kg. It has a lot of ways to adjust it to your liking with the app.
Also, by having few moving mechanic parts, it is easy to maintain and its service period to keep it top notch is about every 4 months (to clean and lube the rails and guides, to make it even softer). When setting the suspension pressure, always go over the desired value, then use the pump's purge button to go down until reaching the desired value. What you did not used on the video is the small ring on the tip of the pump. Release it before detaching the tip, to disconnect it from the valve, to prevent loosing pressure while disconnecting the pump's tip. Yes go on the upper valves with about half of the pressure of the lower valves. Tire pressure is also important to test and adjust to your liking. Keep your knees bent a bit. They are your main insurance when encountering surprises on the road.
Congratulations for joining the club. 😉
Thank you for all the tips, recommendations and advice, hoping it also helps anyone else watching the video or reading the comments. By any chance do you have any recommendations for pads to help grip the EUC, and where to buy them?
I’m in the same boat. I’m almost 60 and just bought the V11 and I’m trying to learn how to ride.
It's been tricky to get the hang of starting without support. The weather has been making it harder to practice, though.
👍🙂👍 very cool
It is, but seems difficult to get the hang of... so far.
I also made a purchases around the same time im 40 years old myself 😅. Its my first EUC. Been searching for awhile, i originally wanted the Kingsong s22. The price tag steer me away. As a Onewheel rider this took no time at all to learn. But STILL very difficult. Its a different animal from a Onewheel. Just have to build that muscle memory. Good luck!
@thihan thanks for the encouragement, I can feel the progress, even though I don't have a lot of time for practice right now. Only experience I have that might relate to this is rollar blading, but that was over 20 years ago. I can kind of feel a similarity with motorcycle riding but still very different. Hoping the next couple days I can work my way out of the driveway and up the street to the local park, I will be sure to record a video as soon as that happens.
I'm 63 and I love it.
@@angelcolon9017 I only wish I had one sooner.
Just funny that I've been researching this EUC as a 41 y/o getting ready to buy his first one. The price drop is making it more enticing, and I will most likely be pulling the trigger in the next day or two, just trying to decide between the V11 or V12. Good luck on your first EUC purchase!
Frankly, I'm surprised it hasn't become more popular. I only learned about them a couple years ago but they were too expensive at the time. Good luck to you, as well. For me the choice was based on financial limitations but also the air suspension, heard it's easier on the knees...
I'm 52 and I just bought my first euc about a month ago as a first time rider (veteran patton). Keep it up! You'll be riding it in no time, just keep practicing. It took me about 2 weeks with an hour or so practice every other day to be comfortable riding it around the streets and bike paths. They are so much fun, it's worth it. Just make sure you get the proper gear to go with it as you WILL have some falls on it.
I'm slowly getting confident on it but lately it has been difficult finding the time to practice and having good weather, I found out that wet grass isn't the best medium to practice on (no surprise there. I figured grass would be less damaging to the unit while I am learning but right now the ground is very wet, even without rain.
That is cool. I'm 51 heading toward 52 and I really want to purchase one. I really want the V11. Tempted to start with something like the V8s but wondering if its awesome will i outgrow it fast or otherwise will i get mad, give up and have to sell it. Thanks.
@@MichaelHollandOne Imo, I'd go with the V11, it's more powerful and will deliver more of what you want. The V8 is good to learn on, but you can learn on any machine. You don't want to outgrow it super fast, then it would be a waste of money. It'll be harder to learn on the V11, but once you get it, you'll be glad you took the higher machine. I started on the patton.. an 80lb beast as a first time euc rider. At the start I was a little like "what did I get myself into?" but then after it clicked, man, I'm so happy I went higher end. I'm almost a little sad I didn't start with a 20 inch wheel, but honestly the 16 inch has its benefits (like being super nimble and easier to toss in the back of my SUV). Good luck and have fun! Keep the community updated on how it goes!
@@MichaelHollandOne I thought the same thing, figured the V11 would be a good balance to start and the suspension should make it more enjoyable to ride to keep me from getting frustrated and giving up.
i like what you do ! It’s great that it’s legal in the area where you live. i very want buy one EUC but is not legal to use in hong kong . so hope you enjoy and wich you share more later. i enjoy to see all video about your euc journey
The legality of it is NOTclear, technically I think in certain areas it isn't allowed but as long as you don't ride dangerously the police will mostly ignore it.
sure, the best way is off the wheels when in front of the police@@BklynOutdoors
Nice video. Good luck learning it and enjoy your time riding it.
Thank you, I appreciate the positive and encouraging comment. I'll be sure to make an update video soon.
jesus christ.....don't pick it up with trolley handle....don't you read manual
I'll be honest... I did not read the manual.
Learning for me was a really long and slow process. Took me about two weeks to feel comfortable enough to use it as a commuting tool, and two months before I really felt natural no matter the situation. Take your time man!
Definitely, I've learned recently that my body doesn't recover like it used to so I'm not rushing. The little improvements feel like major accomplishments, soon as I can make it 20 ft without bracing myself against something I will start recording videos of the experience.
Got a V8F as my first EUC (before moving on to another EUC afterwards) earlier this year at the age of 46 - you are not alone!
Starting to see that now. It's encouraging to know.
I bought my 1st EUC V11 at 50 year old . Iam nown 51 in a few mai ths i will up grading to Veteran S
Congrats, personally I hope the V11 is enough to keep me satisified for at least a few years, these things are expensive and I can't afford to upgrade any further.
Yeah. I am allmost 42. I live in an appartement with no elevator and 6 EUC. And only one is the tiny Mten3. Two wheels need to go.
Enjoy the insanity.
I'll try, thankfully I don't have to deal with stairs right now, but I'm stuggling with the starts, without a wall to brace myself.
Great video! Thank you!
Thank you, I am glad you enjoyed it.
Hah. I bought my first EUC when I was 41
Glad to hear I am not alone. I wonder if there are any EUC riding groups in my area. I've only seen one other person riding one around town, it was a younger guy dressed business casual riding what looked like a V5F, but I haven't seen him or anyone else, since then.
Have fun man :-) this is the best thing to ride I ever ride in my life (even if I have 600cc ) ;-)
ps. but be care full to maximum , this thing is the most dangerous as well ;-)
Once I get the hang of starting from a stand still no support position I will make an update video, for now it's a bit frustrating, the weather and my schedule aren't helping me with the time, either.
Nice choice ! A rolls Royce for a start ! Welcome to the club !
Thank you, I am very impressed with how supportive this community is. Would like to find more EUC users in my area, though.
You're right there s a strong community passionate with these marvels. I made a real friend 5 years ago as we just run to each other randomly on our wheels. @@BklynOutdoors 😃 Indeed, sometimes we struggle to find someone to ride with us. My 12 years daughter practice this last summer and now we can ride together, So nice! Use to have the KS 18L, sold it and plan for either the V11Y or the KS S16 (not decided yet 😅), Suspension is the way to go for me now. Try to practice going backwards early, it's so fun!
@@Anakena3 going backwards might prove to be a challenge, right now. I am getting better at the very slow manuevers and I'm working toward riding in a seated position, but that is also a bit of a challenge right now.
I got one it works good but yes it’s not recommended to use on soft ground
My goal is to ride along quiet paved roads, but I am so unbalanced right now that I drop it as soon as I start. My progress is very slow, so far.
@@BklynOutdoorsYeah, the V11 has a bit higher center of mass, so it's on the tougher side of the learning curve. Still, keep on practicing and you'll soon be carving mindlessly and smoothly.
@@Enderplays12 I'm getting better, this thing really reminds me of my old R6 sport motorcycle I had when I was younger. I just wish the weather wasn't so terrible, I can handle cold, it's the rain, snow and ice that keeps me from riding. Hoping for an early Spring.
I am almost 47 and looking to get my first wheel. My problem is I am not willing to buy a wheel just to out grow it in a week ....so I am thinking the commander mini ,vet abrams , wanted to stay well below 3k but get suspension as well for the potholes. range and power are another issue..i need to climb 2 steep hills and i want to keep up with traffic if need be.
I'm worried about the same thing... I've reached the speed limit of this machine already, and would like to reach faster speeds every once in a while, but honestly I can't afford anything more than this price point, maybe in the future, but for now I think this unit is best all around l, especially for the price.
I’m 37 and just got one earlier today. First EUC! Where you from? Anyone from Columbus Ohio and want to ride?
I'm from Brooklyn, NY but live on Middletown, now, lots of country roads. I'd like to know if there are any other EUC owners in my area as well. Who knows, maybe start an EUC riding club.
Started with the v11. Just purchased the v13. It's the wave of the future...
I might graduate to the V13 eventually but honestly they would have to drop the price to below 3k. I can't justify that kind of purchase, especially for something that will primarily be used for leisure; actual commuting is not possible for my situation.
omg this is suspension pomp its not for tire :)
🤣
Yes, I realized the pump is for the air suspension a few minutes into the video. Had to use an air compressor for the tire. I'm learning a lot about this unit, didn't know it had additional settings that can be changed using the app, it's a fun learning process for me.
@@BklynOutdoors you never had a bicycle with suspension for 41years ??
@@VeetekSmith maybe just one that had that rear spring, but nothing that required pumping. My motorcycles front forks are fluid filled and if they ever needed maintentance it was done by a mechanic. Main reason I thought the pump was also used for the tire was because I saw an older video for it. I realized in the video they use a different pump, though, guess Inmotion doesn't supply that pump anymore or not to the USA. It's all good though, I figured it out eventually.
Can't you use a bike pump for the tire?
@@BklynOutdoors
Love my V11. It's my 3rd wheel and looking at 2 more
I originally wanted to try the VF5, I think that is what it was called, at one point they had it for $400 but I waited and I guess they sold out. I also didn't want to drop $400 to $500 on something I could potentially outgrow and have to get the V11 afterward. Since they are having such a good sale I took the plunge and bought it. I really hope I don't outgrow it anytime soon.
@@BklynOutdoors nah the V11 will last you a while. It's got pretty good performance, plus it's not too difficult to resell on to the next learner. I outgrew my V8F pretty quick but small wheels are so convenient to grab for quick trips to the shop
@@Platypus-Dreams that's what I am hoping. I'm still learning, not a lot of free time at the moment so my personal best is about 20 feet (to the end of the driveway). Thought I was doing well until I tried starting without holding onto a wall, now I realize I have a lot more to learn.
@@BklynOutdoors remember to breathe, try and relax. Twist your hips in the direction your falling. Look forward not down
@@Platypus-Dreams sound advice, very much like learning to ride a motorcycle but at the same time different... if that makes any sense. The obstacle I have to overcome is starting drom a standing position with nothing to brace myself on. I already notice it's more stable to have my left foot on the pedal/foot rest while pushing off the ground with my right foot. The other obstacle is stopping and putting my foot down without dropping the unit. I'll get there, eventually.
12:30 I think the KingSong is the perfect example of bad "Chinese manufacturing" It looks REALLY FLASHY but all the reviewers I have seen said they had problems with sliders and especially the !!!axle!!!
Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with any other EUC, so I can't compare. However, I have encountered a huge flaw on the Inmotion; mainly that it has been locked for "safety" and I can not unlock it without Inmotion doing so on there end. I've been trying to reach someone anyone from Inmotion to remedy the issue but so far haven't heard back. Right now my EUC is completely unusable.
@@BklynOutdoors u should communicate with someone at Ewheels they are very responsive and knowledgable about many many things and I am sure they know what's up with ur situation
After you learn to ride forward and mount unassisted, the most important things to learn is turning/sharp turns and braking with control.
I brought the V12 late September, learned to ride and been loving it. Everyday I learn something new or improve on what I already learned. Currently learning seated riding, backwards and going backwards and forwards without stopping. Each new thing is a learning curve and takes time
Yes the turning is terrifying right now, so far I am focused on going straight without using a wall for assistance, can get several feet so far. I'm waiting on shin guards; found out the hard way how brutal that unit is when it slaps your shin bone
FedEx is crap
I remember a time they would park away from the delivery address, pre-fill the "attempted to deliver" notice, run up and leave the notice on the door and run back to their truck. I caught one about to leave once (back when I was living in Brooklyn) and I asked where the package was, he had to walk to the corner to his truck to get it... he was pissed about it, too. I've noticed the delivery drivers here are better, though.
Interesting, thank you.
I agree the stand seems flimsy. Is there some reason that people are reluctant to lay their EUCs flat on the ground, such as on clean grass or on a piece of carpet or a towel?
Hoping you have many good rides in this excellent machine.
Thank you. I sometimes lay it down, it's just a pain to lift up from that position (pretty heavy). I usually find a wall or something to lean it against. I havr had some pretty good rides so far and recording quite a few of them; hoping to post them soon.
@@BklynOutdoors
Thx. I certainly wasn't pointing the parking-technique question at your activities in particular, I was just curious in general because in the very large number of EUC videos from around the world that I have watched, I have never seen anyone anywhere lay their wheel down flat. I was wondering if doing so risks damage to the batteries.
I recently purchased a Sherman Max and will attempt to start learning how to ride it soon. But it sure is heavy.
Ride safe!
@@haroldsmith45302 i hope there isn't an issue with laying it flat, that's how I often store it when not using it, never thought about if it can negatively effect the batteries.
I bought my first ever, never ever even tried one before, for my 62nd birthday. But in Belgium I payed 2200,ooEuro
This is a special sale at least that is the claim, either they will discontinue this one and keep the newer orange trimmed version or they might just keep it at this price. Only reason I was able to afford it was because of the price drop. I'm hoping it's worth the investment.
Awesome, welcome to the euc club 😎⚡️🤙 also, have you checked out the newer V11 with the orange accents?
Thank you, so far this seems to be a very welcoming community. I just wonder if there are any other EUC owners in my area.
I've seen videos on it, but haven't seen it available, orange happens to be my color, but from what I heard the cost is a bit out of my reach (for now).
V11Y have been recalled!
