On the translation differences, the collector's edition used a new translator called Matt Treyvaud, and as Anime News Network explains "Matt Treyvaud's translations are deemed to be "a good balance" between being "faithful to the original, but still in natural-reading English with clever puns." So I don't think we need worry about the changes, they look to be a positive change.
The newer edition of Maison ikkoku volume 1 manga cover is came from the previous edition but in the newer edition of Maison Ikkoku manga has the illustration which it was originally from the older Maison ikkoku manga from the late 90s under Viz graphic novel back in the 90s 1:54
Mhm! I found out about those issues recently. They had unique covers for each chapter, right? Super cool that they include them in the Collector's edition
Thanks for the comparison, I want to know 2 things 1) Paper quality in collector edition (Are all pages completely glossy like "Fullmetal Alchemist edition" or traditional rough pages like single volumes ? 2) Also, why this is rated T+, I heard its a funny, light hearted manga, I never read/watched this, so why T+, does this contains cursings or any other content ? Thanks again!!
Hey thanks for watching! The pages are rough, not glossy. There is a little bit of nudity thrown in to introduce a free spirited tenant. It's mostly used for comedy.
@@srimanth3741They're pure white, my guess is that the older editions just got colored with age, though. I haven't seen those that weren't at least a little colored with age.
thanks for the video!
I have the collector's edition volume 1 as well. Hope you can get the others and do more videos!
I thought you had volume 3 or something
oh, u right. It's 4. Wanna borrow it?
@@Metroretro594 mm thanks I'm ok with my Japanese one

That's interesting! Thanks for the info, I didn't know the translation was actually improved

Hi!! at 5:27 can you please tell me what it says when you open the cover? like what it reads at ''editor's choice''? i am really curious!
Theyre from 2:07 Rumiko Takahashi’s paintings. She does art sometimes with characters nothing new.
I'd say that the collector's edition has been de-Americanised.

Hey one question how many volumes are in total?
15 I think
For the original, it's fifteen, and the newer edition has ten. The newer version makes it more compact by squeezing two-in-one.
