you bad..@DG
Happy you have Giggs on. Never saw a interview on him ever but ton of his music
There's laods
Used to go to school with this guy & I can say his whole squad were certy. If you got into it with one of them you were getting rushed/jumped, strap put to your head, violated or shanked up same day on some organised gangster timing lol. Nice to see the progress though, Giggs is a decent role model the way he's maybe changed up but yeah I know them guys & find it hard to believe they ain't still running shit lowkey
You and the crew are still doing an amazing job keeping these interviews coming @MATH HOFFA #salute
Spent 3 months dolo in London. I stayed in Dalston for a month and a half, then had to stay in a council estate in Stoke Newington for like 10 days, and then the remainder of my time there was staying a little over a month in Brixton.
Hung out a lot in a variety of areas like Dalston, Brixton, Shoreditch, Camden Town, Angel, Soho, Kings Cross.. prolly a few others i can't think of off top.
I made friends almost instantly and they took me at least 3 separate times to hiphop/carribbean club joints where I'd be the only white guy there. But I never felt in any danger because besides the fact i was rollin wit some solid ass dudes, I didn't change how I acted and went about shit in ways to avoid situations that could lead to conflict. For example, I would still scope out the joint and try to make sure a woman I wanna holla at doesn't have a man who might get tight. I tried not to attract too much attention, cuz I'm already getting it for being the only white guy in the venue but now people are hearing me talk and realizing I'm a New Yorker and they're wanting to chop it up with me whether they're girls who are intrigued or dudes who just think it's dope I had so much interest and respect for their city that i decided to quit my bullshit job and come out to London dolo for 3 months.
I did not act like how ignorant ass New York cats are often known to be like... walking around like they're the shit, super arrogant, with a feeling of untouchablilty cuz I'm the toughest guy in the entire city simply because I'm from NYC...I didn't do none of that dumb shit
The point of me bringing all this up is that I was able to meet and link up and kick up with so many people from all backgrounds and all parts of society that I feel like those 3 months gave me a large enough sample size to believe that our slang is very fucking similar, at times identical and at other times different but close enough that me nor anyone who ever talked to me had ever had any issues understanding what each other meant by something
Honestly, I've been to all major cities in America, and it's actually London that felt the closest like being back home in NYC
Agree man. The slang we get from the UK is a mixture of US slang & Jamiacan so for sure I see how u get most if it. When I travel to NY cause I grew up listening to hip hop and watching movies I understood everything but from someone to come to London from america I think after sometime you'll pick up most things we say for sure as u say very similar
@@twistahedroNY dialect is literally from London 😂
@twistahedro honestly the only real differences that were noticeable to me is the lack of Hispanics specifically Puerto Ricans and Dominicans and the influence they have on the culture being replaced by Arabs with their influence on the culture, and the ability to freely walk around without the fear in the back of your mind that you could be unlucky enough to be standing next to the wrong person who someone wants to unload a clip into and accidentally get shot in the process. In London it just felt like I'm not gonna get killed unless I get into some sort of beef with someone... you know... how its SUPPOSED TO BE!
Oh and the Tube is just run sooooooo much better then the Subway. EVERYTHING was ALWAYS on time, stations were always kept clean for the most part, and it never felt like an entire station had been taken over by derelicts and crazy people.... you know... HOW ITS SUPPOSED TO BE!!!
Fares are expensive in both cities but in NYC it just always feels like we're just paying top dollar for bottom level service. And when I went the 24/7 service haden't started yet.. but from what I've heard from people I know who still live out there... it hasn't really had much of a negative effect on the safety and cleanliness of the stations nor the efficiency of the system in general
There are hispanics in london. Mainly south Americans. Especially in south and west London. Elephant and castle and brixton has latinos. They are mainly columbian or Brazilian background @@MizTheDonGargon

If you understand how to use context U.K. slang is easy to grasp. Like they say "you lot" that's just like in the South we say "yall". We say "street niggas" but in the U.K. they say "roadmen"
We actually don’t say roadmen it’s like chav that’s what people say when they’re speaking down on them kind of people. It came from the term road rap which was a term the media used when linking the music to the crimes. But people do use roadman as a joke or in a sarcastic way or they just say it online. And with road rap some people just started calling it that it’s essentially a sub genre to uk rap. Could see it as a mix between gangster music and trap
@@Jimmyconway77 My point exactly
Road man a Diss now it changes too
UK slang is actually a lot more coded and cryptic
@@marcusrashford568 I agree....But I understand it all
''see you on boxing day'' 😂😂
Patterned is another word for fixed, organised, sorted or accomplished. Giggs came with some location shiz bout situated lol!
Proper is a word though. Even when it's used in slang it's still being used according to its definition: to be done correctly, from properly.
Nah he didn't hit the point until later but its the equivalent to saying something is 'fire' or 'lit' which coincidently are slang words too but more recognised.
@@diamondwest35 Aye, but it always confuses me when Americans don't understand it even though the actual word fits the context it is being used in, albeit exaggerated, unlike lit, or fire, which cannot be literal where they are used.
@@diamondwest35 Can't it be used like nyc slang "mad"?
"That sounds mad nice"
"That sounds proper nice"
Ya get me fam!
Giggs is unintentionally funny fam
The majority of street slang in the UK is derived from Jamaican patois. For black and brown people anyway.
We made them show them every thing
And the majority of Jamaican patois comes from English words, due to it being a colony and all that
@davidmarwood77S5 Exactly, that's why most Jamaicans have English surnames like Campbell, Perkins etc. Also, the slang of the American deep south and way of talk is derived from the English west coast settlers.
@@rnw2739 heavily influenced by irish accent as well, its uncanny

You boys are sitting in front of a legend here right here.
NY dialect literally comes from London, this was said by language dialect professor as well 😂

I hope these Americans understand that to us this side of the Atlantic Giggs is basically like Dr. Dre to a lot of people. Not for the production and beats and what not he’s just the Godfather of UK rap/drill/hip hop.
A lot of us listen to this type of music cos of Giggs. A lot of new UK artists who’ve really made it have Giggs to thank for the success.

Wretch 32 just dropped too
I'm from NYC and spent 3 months in London and they don't really talk like this out there. The internet and globalism in general is slowly eroding regional slang and accents. Yes, they use diff words for things like flat for apartment or crib, but for the most part they are either talking just like me or at the very least were able to understand everything i was saying due to hiphop
London boy born and raised here. We definitely have our slang and most people of working class backgrounds in London talk like how giggs is talking. I dunno where you spent your three months 😂
I been to London and the man dem talk like Giggs, tf you talking about? 😂
Similar to how people talk here in the Toronto area. The way he talks is very famialr to anyone of the Carribean (Jamaican) diaspora.
@@fabelsounds 💯
Am from Stockwell Park. I dunno where you stayed in London the slang is everywhere.
You just ain’t been around the people in that world
How about these words. Marriage, responsibility, respect, birth control, decency, honest work, kindness, humility!!!
Proper is just oldschool British vernacular. Still is. It's barely even slang, just British English. A lot of Black US slang is more similar to British English than general US though.
Americar is a relatively Young country 247 years old where as England is 1,500 years old
If you listen to him, his slang is similar to the real definition, which is pretty darn understandable.

Proper is just short for properly…when something is proper it’s done properly the correct way I.e it’s good. Not even slang jus a shortened word
Dude in the Orange out of pocket in so many different ways. I seen somebody had to text him and tell him to watch what you saying..
Uk slang is all context based.
At least in London they understands the US slangs cause that's universal. Well the foreigner street cats in London might doesn't understand but who were born in LDN they does understand.

With food it depends, general English food is ok at best. But in London you never have to eat "English" food. I literally eat everything but English food when i go to London. I would say lolwkey the Caribbean food in London is better then Caribbean in America. American food is full of chemicals, and artificial. While there's is not.
