As an American, I love seeing your China videos. Sure everything might not be perfect there, but where is it perfect at? Just because they don’t trust imperialistic mindsets, doesn’t mean they are mean or weird! Judge nations on their people, not just what your government says about their government!
I only just come across your channel literally within the last few days. I am completely mesmerised with your videos. I love travel videos, but your videos are on a different level to everyone else I watch. Thanks for opening my eyes to places I have not even heard of. 😊
As usual, you two make wonderful travelling companions. Your amazing ability to make genuine contact with people is so enjoyable to watch.Such an adventure.
No travel vloggers do it like you! Could honestly watch you all day. So genuine and down to earth, would love to meet/bump into you someday. As a southerner I’ve only ever met one Geordie and you remind me a lot of him 🤣 wey aye man
Just a kindly reminder if you wanna buy a pin in the future. I think the average price is ~20 Yuan in a souvenir shop, but it could be 10 Yuan for a piece at that stall. You can buy 5 pieces of the Pins if you pay 50 Yuan.
Local dialect for Fu Ren (wife) is Fu Yin, sounds like a quick version of Fu Wu yuan(waitress). So Jack is really not bad at understanding him. A Chinese person from a different dialect area may make the same mistake.
North Korea, China 🇰🇵, looks so nice! Thank you so much, as always, for making these amazing traveling videos. They are always so entertaining to watch. Your languages are always amazing. The food and the drinks look so nice to try 😋. I’m wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas 🎄 and Happy New Year! Stay safe. ❤🇮🇲🇬🇧
China went into the Korean War with the Allied Army because they've pushing too close to the Chinese borders and the Chinese weren't too comfortable about having the Americans too close to their doorstep. So they pushed the American and Allied forces way back to where the North-South divide is today.
Well done for your Chinese, Jack! - If you want a more accurate intonation, ask your tutor about the four tones (it will definitely help). For example mā: (steady tone) for "mother" má: (rising tone) for "numb" like mala hotpot mǎ: for "horse" mà: (duo tone) and mà for "scolding". The spelling is the same for the four words but the focus is on the 'accent' symbol ( or diacritic)
At 5:05, he said "your wife" (fu ren), not "waitress" (fu wu yuan). "fu ren" is a more formal term for "lao po" or "qi zi" (wife). The confusion arose because his north-eastern accent made it sound like "fu wu yuan" (waitress). That’s so funny! Your Chinese has improved a lot-I can see it throughout your video.
Haha. I love that kid! As an American it reminds me of how our kids would act. He definitely wasn’t shy! I liked how he called you out for not having good pronunciation! He didn’t understand it wasn’t your first language lol
Communicating with locals proactively is the best way to learn local culture and tradition quickly. and it's also very helpful to learn local language. Obviously Jack has found the secret!
26:10 Actually chinese can travel to north korea in a toursist group organised by north korea, but the flight is from Beijing (or Shenyang) to Pyongyang only, and thats pretty much the only way toursists can access DPRK
Thanks you so much for your new remarkable video today’s @ the China 🇨🇳 & North Korea 🇰🇵 border in December of 2024❤❤❤Happy Holidays to you in peace❤❤❤
This is the first video I've watched of this guy. Always been obsessed about the 2 Korea's and currently on the waiting list for a visit to Pyongyang. I must say it's refreshing to see an Englishman who can speak the language of the country he's going to and interacting with the locals. We take it for granted that everyone speaks English wherever we go.
at 16:09, when the owner says "冷面,这是典型的。“ he meant that the cold noodle is a classic Korean food. The subtitle you have here is wrong: 点心=snack, 典型=classic. But I totally get why you thought it like that since the pronunciation is close.
In the English cources taken by most (at least some) of Chinese, they don't use the words "Britain" or "UK", they just use "England" to represent the whole of UK. One of foreign teachers I met, who is from Northern Ireland, said he always feel offended.
At 30 minutes into the video, I was surprised to see the woman with the child you spoke with wearing a cap showing Cleveland Guardians. That is a baseball team in Cleveland, Ohio USA that changed its name from Indians to Guardians in 2022. Small world.
Rice is hard to grow in the regions bordering North Korea. Maybe that's why they buy some rice from North Korea into the border regions. Its just a guess though.
I think his asking price for North Korean banknotes is exaggerated. I have all of them too, and I bought them on E-Bay for much less. What's more, his banknotes have strange imprints on them that aren't normally on them. It's just not so easy to find them there because E-Bay prohibits trading in North Korean banknotes and coins. But they do exist.
1 month and you manage to have full conversations in Chinese? How? That’s impressive!
Must have been a lot of active recall learning since he learned it fast
He's actually been learning a lot longer. His old china video has him trying to speak it. It is not an easy language
Exactly what I was thinking

Learned Chinese for only one month? I can hardly believe it. You're a language genius, bro.
I saw him speak Urdu in Pakistan. And then he speaks Spanish as well. His English is Geordie and needs improving :)
@@jahason01 Ha ha! If I studied Chinese for a month I might be able to say one word that probably nobody could understand. Nee how boo boo?
At 5:06, the old man asked "Is that your wife? Your wife is beautiful." The word he used was "Fu Ren" (wife), instead of "Fu Wu Yuan" (waitress) LOL

打得一拳开免得百拳来。justify Chinese troops entering North Korea against American troops or UN troops
