Al salamu alaykum brother Paul, am here to remind you that the work you do is very beneficial to the Muslim ummah and to encourage you to continue your good work, and also to suggest a topic to be discussed on your platform that has been on my mind for quite some time, that is Islam's opinion on property rights. Specifically about intellectual property, but property rights in general. I find the discussions on this channel to be very enlightening, and property rights is an interesting topic to be discussed since it is very important to many issues in the Americas, especially when it relates to the indigenous population. Aspects that I think would be interesting to talk about would be, 1) the legitimately of ownership (what does it mean to own something) 2) difference between private property and public property,(and how that relates to the state) 3) difference between Islamic conception of property and modern western conception,( a tangent about the waqf system and it's working would be nice) 4) a discussion about land ownership, specifically when it comes to collective land ownership(do indigenous tribes still hold a right to the land of their ancestors? Even after their land was conquered? what about the private land that individuals in said tribes own, do their descendents hold rights to these lands via the right of inheritance, and how would they ideally be divided). And as I said a talk about intellectual property and how it's viewed under Islamic law would be very much appreciated.

ASA Paul, Thanks for the great lecture. As for regarding why some Islamic sciences like hadith, written documentation, Arabic grammar, Fqih etc.. evolved or appeared lately, the reason is, people "invent" specialized disciplines when a specific skill is lost from the layman. For example nobody needed to learn Arabic grammar because in the beginning the Muslims were Arabs, then after the conquests a lot of non Arabs accepted islam and they needed a way to understand how Arabic works, similarly the collection of Quran because new muslims didn't have the knowledge of the sahaba so a collection of the Quran was needed. Same thing with Hadith, the people of Madinah lived with the prophet, they know him and internalized his personality and mindset, his companions shaped their personality after him (PBUH) they can understand the nuance between 2 extremes and reconcile any apparent contradiction they developed this mindset. ages and generations passed and these skills were lost, that dictated new sciences to be developed to compensate for the skills and mindset lost by generations. that's why reading books about Islamic sciences without a good teacher is a bad idea, because the teacher also teach etiquette (Adab) good manners and personality and fear and love for Allahand his messenger, not just some dry rules. They like the professor said used to embody the knowledge they had on their daily actions and life, this is how great scholars developed a mindset of dealing with unprecedented situations they actually apply what they learned. And that's was a huge difference from Bani Israel scholars, who used to a collect huge knowledge without applying it, this knowledge will be used against them in the day of judgement just like any scholar who learns only without application of what he learned in his life. Sorry for the rant but to sum up, people didn't need to document hadith because they lived among the people who witnessed the prophet and all his battles and trials and internalized some part of the light he brought in. Peace be upon the Messenger and his family and companions.

I appreciate the valuable comment of your guest prof. Yasin Dutton, why non Muslim scholars study Islam, Quran and the Prophet life’s teaching if they do not have love to the subject? Why they spend all their lives studying what they do not love or believe in! The key Aya in this issue has been noted well in Quran. One correct recitation of Quran, is an evidence of believing in it, others are losers. [العلق:19]: كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَاسْجُدْ وَاقْتَرِب. In contrary, do not follow their aggression,(described in verse 6) and adhere to wisdom of identifying right and wrong, acknowledge, mankind earthy nature, bow down and elevate you spirit closer (to Allah).

Masha Allah. Proud of you guys, learnt alot
Al hamdulilah, beautiful discussion. I believe Umar II was the one who charged Imam Zuhri to commit to writing the ahadith. From the works of Imam Zuhri is the Muwatta born.
[العلق:19]:
كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَاسْجُدْ وَاقْتَرِب.
In contrary, do not follow their aggression,(described in verse 6) and adhere to wisdom of identifying right and wrong, acknowledge, mankind earthy nature, bow down and elevate you spirit closer (to Allah).
You mentioned how Prophet Muhammad pbuh looked. Reminds me please check a book by Dr Abdul Hai of Pakistan called Uswai Rasool Akram. You gonna love it..
