My kids would not eat their salad, if presented with the meat, or the spaghetti, etc. so, I started giving them their salad ahead of anything else, restaurant style, and no fattening dressing, just olive oil, vinegar or lemon juice, and salt and pepper. I convinced them that this was the nice way to have dinner, just like in restaurants. Now they are grown, and would you believe, we al, prefer it that way.
You are just the most organised, the super hard working,..... the complete package woman. I can't stop admiring your skills and your ability to manage ALL. It is such a joy to watch your videos!!! I have tried to do the same in my days, but more often than not, somthing was falling apart and as a result I was falling apart too. I admire your ability to stay calm and composed despite having sooooooo much on you plate. In true honesty, you are one of the few. 🙌1️⃣♥️
I have 4 children. All grown up....Left home. When I was young and they were at home I used to do so much laundry. I was a working mom as well. A teacher for 40 years. I used to do laundry every day and fold it every evening. It was very hard but I never let it piled. Today as a retired mom I do the same . The only day I don't do laundry is Shabat. Good luck with your system. Irit from Israel.
Asan ICU nurse I think you made a wonderful option by choosing school nursing over hospital With 5 kids it would make daily/monthly scheduling is slightly easier.
Those wonderful days when our little ones want us to cuddle and hug them fly by so quickly you were so right to take the time to show your son affection & love. Beautiful video once again ❤
Shalom Sonya! Thanks for sharing! We live in Israel and we simply had no official desert on weekdays. I used to handout chocolate around candle-lighting time just before the Sabbath so they would have a sweet entry into it. I would sometimes buy treats for special occasions...in the hot summer there were ices...but not at mealtimes
We tried your laundry hack!!!! What usually takes days....yeah days! Got it done in 45 minutes, two loads. I had a helper! When I watch your videos and my little ones see yours help you or cook with you now they want to help cook and make their beds like yours! You and the Fam have helped me in showing me how to include my children in everyday tasks. I was wearing myself out making beds and cleaning their rooms and a working mom. Baby steps but we are work in progress! So now the laundry will be done daily and with helpers! Thank You again Ms. Sonya for your tips. You are a blessing.
Your method for the laundry is very good and smart, and even I am so much older than you,I always have what to learn from you and I thank you so much for it!😘🤗🥰
My husband and I recently moved to a BH gorgeous new home. We were looking for the EXACT SAME types of pictures that you just showed in this video. We just ordered Mixtiles. Thanks to you, our new house will have some gorgeous pictures. We had never heard of Mixtiles before you, so THANK YOU
I have another way to do laundry that might be helpful. I wash all of my husband's clothes one day and mine the next day, our daughter's another day. I wash dry fold and put away by person so I take the whole load to the right closet and fold as I put away. You could combine clothes of kids who share a room.
We always ate our main meal first then after kitchen cleanup and any homework that may need to be finished , and baths, we served dessert. Next was teeth brushing and story time , prayers and bed. Of course as children get older routines change. The time is so precious when they are little. I always folded my laundry right out of the dryer with separate baskets for each of us and one for towels and sheets. Of course we were only a family of four. I find it very interesting to see everyone's different routines.
The laundry hack is awesome. I have been doing it that way for about 10 years now. we just use the little personal baskets which i bought in TJ max. I had to label each basket so it doesn't matter who is helping to fold the laundry they know to put it in that family member's basket and it helps to prevent losing small items along the way.
Sonya you truly are amazing you really are! I live your videos so much because I get a glimpse of your Jewish Orthodox life...you are so sweet and truly a beautiful woman inside and out 🥰
When I go visit my daughter, I often do lots of laundry for her (something I love to do). The hardest part is figuring out which garments belong to each of the three little girls. I love your method!
I do something similar with our laundry. We have seven children but the youngest is 9. Our 5 girls share a room and the 2 boys are in another so I just sort by room and they’re responsible for it from there. In the summer all but the youngest have an assigned day to do their own laundry. My 9 year old isn’t tall enough the reach down into the washer yet so I wash his things.
I missed the kinder cuddles when my children left the nest (and when they were ill or life had dealt them a teenaged heartbreak, they still wanted mama's tender ministrations throughout their youth!). Then along came grandchildren. My children still need mama's advice and commiserations, but grandchildren want (and get) their mama's and papa's cuddles and also want Grandma's cuddles, too. And they get them on demand.
I use to do that when my kids were young. and I also had every thing for all lunches, bags, clothes all set out the night before so there was no drama before school and work.
I never served dessert as such when they were little, and later I never served it at mealtime. Instead, I served it after dinner and homework while I read to them, or we listened to various genres of music, or we watched a TV show together. Sometimes, they got dessert when we played tea party. Even my son loved that. On Friday nights, we rented a kid-movie video and had a carpet picnic of deli fried chicken, Mac and cheese, and in-season fruits. If there is an upside to being a single mom (and I was from the time they were 7 and 4), the undivided attention and time I had with them was worth it!
@@SonyasPrep My children are in their late 30s now, and they tell me how much fun they were and how much they looked forward to the Friday night carpet picnic (except during Lent when we "fasted" on them for meatless Fridays). During Lent, we went to Stations of the Cross and then a church supper of meatless soup and dry bread. When money was REALLY tight, we pretended we were rich and went to Pic N Save (now Big Lots) and put anything we wanted into the cart...and then went through the store putting everything back except ONE thing each that had to cost less than $1. Sometimes it was just a pack of sugarless gum. After Mass in winter, we found a shop that charged 29 cents for a mug of hot chocolate. Three mugs, about $1. The first Christmas after their Dad left us, we had Midnight Mass, and no other celebration. There was no child support until Epiphany (Jan 6; 12th Night), and our new routine after that was Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve and Christmas gifts on Epiphany. We made memories and fun.
@@SonyasPrep Thank you. Statistically, children of single mothers do not fare well. Grace of God and being totally committed to their safety, welfare, education, and emotional development.
I did something similar with my laundry when my kids were growing up. I raised 4 children. When they were all old enough to fold their own, they got their own baskets. I always did prep at night also. Clothes, shoes, lunch, etc. Doing it the night before made getting ready the next morning a little easier. I also never had desserts much. But, if there was a dessert, most of their main meal needed to be eaten first. They, didn’t have to eat it all, but they did have to show some effort, lol. I’m 50 now, kids are grown (youngest is 18) and I thoroughly enjoy all your vlogs. Thank you for sharing.
A different variation on your sorting: We had 4 boys, also close in age. Laundry everyday! During their school years, each boy had different color striped tube socks, different brand underwear and each had two towels that were theirs-(one always had blue background, one had stripes, one had jacquard design and one had something with beige with black) This made sorting laundry/folding laundry less of a chore. The rest of their clothes were easy to sort. As they grew into their teens, they learned to do their own.
Your new home looks so beautiful. I remember those days of little ones being sick at school. Your children are adorable. That’s a great way to do laundry for a big family. You’re so luck to have a large family. Blessings to you and your family.
So, I've read that (particularly with toddlers) if you serve dessert on the same plate as the meal, kids will eat dessert first, but will still eat the meal. I found that to be true for my little guy when he was younger. He's almost 4 now and I cannot outsmart him that way anymore lol! We don't have dessert every night after dinner, but he will often get a treat in the afternoon/before dinner. The sweet acts as an appetite stimulant.
I only have one kid and use the same laundry system! I sort everything by room and then bring the items to that room, fold and put away. So easy! Also regarding your dessert question- we don’t place special value on dessert. It goes on the plate with the meal. Sometimes my son eats dessert first, and sometimes he eats his veggies first!
When my little one was litte I did'nt sever sweets until Sabbith. This made it very spical for us. And I felt good not severing sweets every day. we did eat a lot of fruit.🍉🍓
Thank you Sonya, what a wonderful video! Please have some more like this 💕😊 it helps me so much! So now I subbed as well. And for some reason I’m craving her kugel. I just may have to ask her to make some. Extra raisins. LOLOL! We are ashkenazi. But I love the Sephardic dishes! We don't have a dessert really! But my rule has always been if they eat their dinner they get to choose a 'treat'! Could be fruit yogurt crisps or biscuits!! Their choice!!!
I provide dessert with the meal but it is limited. One cookie at lunch and two cookies at dinner (or similar). Sometimes he eats his cookies first and then the meal but he never asks for more because he knows the rules! I think if dessert was held back and unlimited he wouldn't eat as much of the meal! Can you do a video on what you make your kids for their school lunches? My little one is starting preschool and it seems like so much work to pack everything!
😅😅 I hear you! It was so stressful. I packed lunch 1 year for all the kids and said never again. Luckily the school provides lunch so I only pack it when they don’t like what will be served. I’ll try to vlog a few examples and post.
I almost never have desert foods in my house, but when I do, I make my daughter wait a half hour before she can have it, so that it's more like a snack. I never call it desert. That way she may not even be hungry for it, her stomach has had time to decide.

Love this.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed
I almost never have desert foods in my house, but when I do, I make my daughter wait a half hour before she can have it, so that it's more like a snack. I never call it desert. That way she may not even be hungry for it, her stomach has had time to decide.
Love that
