When I found out you had a video on Victor I had to watch it right away! I had a cousin who lived there in the late fifties, so got to explore it and Cripple Creek. Most of the businesses in downtown Victor were open then, and we went inside those beautiful buildings. So sad to see them closed and deserted. Thanks for your great video, this one really brought back fond memories!
I am so happy to bring back fond memories! I plan to do an update Victor Colorado video. I really like all of the history that surrounds Nicholas Tesla and Victor. Thank you so much for joining tonight’s premiere and stay safe.
@@bobbycomeau2563 That would be amazing! Victor is fascinating and so beautiful. I am going to be in the area this spring. If you are serious, I would be very interested in taking you up on the offer. Please email me sometime: doug@derelictdoug.net
Ohhh yes! Have you read about some of Nicola Tesla’s experiments in this town? Some fascinating and mostly overlooked history took place in Victor (video coming next year). Thanks for sharing your thoughts and all the best!
I liked the video. I even liked the history. But, I live in Victor and we have had almost all of the empty houses sold and are restored or are being restored. in the last 3 years. Victor was on the list of towns that were about to become a "ghost town" about 5-7 years ago but they paved the streets 2 years ago up to the first block and just put in a new water processing plant. Victor would appear to most (especially city concrete jungle dwellers) to be pretty empty (I think it's between 350-400 people here now) but that's why we live here. It's quiet, friendly, slow-paced, and Beautiful here on top of the Rockies. ;) Come back and I can connect you with those who preserve the history of the town. We have much more impressive things than A Freemason Temple. For instance, did you see the Tesla mining machinery we have collected? This amazing man had some interesting history right here. They even painted a mural of him last year across from our general store/PO Office. We can also probably get you inside the Freemason Temple. ;) Best Regards
Thank you so much for the well written and thought out comment. It's funny you mentioned the Tesla history. This is something that I completely overlooked on my last visit. I am already planning to do an update video and it would be great to get some before and after shots of Victor. I appreciate any assistance or information that you could provide. While the Freemason Temple is interesting, I would love to highlight the town's growth and talk a little about Tesla's work in the area. Thanks again and all the best!
I’d love to see inside the temple. My great grandpa commuted to victor from cripple creek area. We still go to Victor every few months to visit the bakery. Always been intrigued by the temple since I was a little kid.
Excellent video on Victor. Going up myself with some other Colorado TH-camrs to make some paranormal videos. We started a Facebook group for Colorado TH-camrs. We would love to have you. Planning meetups and helping each other. All different niches. Search Colorado TH-camrs.
Great to make your acquaintance! I will be sure to jump on to FB this weekend and find the group. Thank you for making me aware and for keeping me in mind. All the best!
That would be an absolute dream come true! If possible, I would really appreciate keys and a look inside. Please let me know what (if anything) you need from me. doug@derelictdoug.net
You know dude, I was actually in Nevadaville co, there is a tiny abandoned little mining town that actually had a free Masonic lodge that still operates today, with a Masonic cemetery there... ive been staying in black hawk co for a few days, seeing a lot of mason symbols.. what’s with that?
Thanks for the well thought out question. Masonic temples and OES temples came with the town. Once a community grew past its wood construction phase people expected a Bank and a Masonic Lodge (and some times an E.L.K. lodge). These places were used by Masons, yes. But they also served as gathering places and temporary town halls. In other words they were very common. They were a status symbol of a town and often the Masons did the stone work in the community. This is why we see so many masonic symbols in the west. Thank you for watching and best wishes!
Very Cool Video Doug!! Love the Old Structures and Mining towns!! Hope Victor keeps standing
Hi Rich! I am also hoping for the best for Victor. I am glad you liked it and thanks for watching 🙏🏻

Maybe when you come back in the spring, we could get keys for some of the buildings so you can do some an indoor videos.
