    I think you are spot on with your assessment. I own two shadow two compacts, one that I had done up by CZ custom, which has a super light single, and double action trigger for competition, and the other that I kept bone stock, save for new grips. They are fantastic firearms.

      Nice!! I just got one for myself, and worked on another, also doing a complete trigger job and installation of the CGW pro-kit. It gets as good as the full size ones :).

      @charitybull 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I shoot the shadow 2 full sized in competition in the carry optics division. The difference between them is pretty significant. The full sized gun is quite a bit heavier and by design has much more muzzle weight giving the gun a flatter profile, however, the aluminum frame on the compact allows the smaller sibling to transition laterally faster.
      One of my full sized shadow 2 has a Fire4Effect slide which has a significantly lighter slide and is probably a better comparison. I still grab my longer gun for competitions but I am going to run the S2c in IDPA this winter.
      I have been carrying my stock S2c and therefore shooting it at the range a ton (I probably have 2000 rounds through it so far) and it has run flawlessly. It is way more accurate and Han I am at all distances (printing .5” groups at 10 yards)
      Ergonomics are damn near identical save for the fact that I put vytal grips on the compacts and Lok grips on the full sized guns and the vytal grips have palm swells making them a bit more full (I have small ish hands)
      All controls are exactly where you’d want them and I find the mag release easy to manipulate as well as the slide release which my recent tactical training has changed me to a faster support side thumb user.
      Racking the slide either from the top or the rear are easy as the serrations are deep enough to use but not sharp enough to cut up your belly when carrying.

    I really wish CZ had put the same safety on the compact. I've been waiting for one for a long time now. Everyone is sold out of the left side for right-handed shooters. If anyone knows where I can get one, even a used one from a full size S2 let me know.

    Would the compact slide work with a full size frame? Run a threaded barrel and comp like a Staccato XC wannabe.

    • @czarmorer
      @czarmorer  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I can check on that - But I don't think this would make a lot of sense, given that at that point you have basically the same gun as a full size shadow2 anyway. If your goal is to have a compensated shadow2 without the extra length of a compensator, you could simply port the slide and get some popple holes on the barrel...
      It's just a 9mm after all, so that will give more than enough compensation, and likely run more reliably too.

    Have you ever had to take the grip/mag screws off. If so can you tell me how you did it without stripping the screws. Thanks.

    • @czarmorer
      @czarmorer  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Yes, like a billion times :). If you still on the original screws often times they come with excessive loctite which require some caution when removing not to scrip the screws.
      The first thing is to ensure you're using the right tool for the job - the OEM screws are torx T20 size. So a T20 torx is your tool here.
      After that if you have that situation with excessive loctite, what you can do is apply some heat before trying to remove the screws - With caution here! You don't need too much heat here - A little torch or lighter for a 3 or 4 seconds should do it.

    • @czarmorer
      @czarmorer  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I would think it's an overkill, but would it work? It sure would :). It will be a sad shadow2 collecting dust on your nightstand as opposed to shooting targets/steel in a practical shooting competition though
      And yes, the DWX is awesome! I haven't worked on one yet, but heard nothing but great things about it - so congratulations on getting yours!

      I’d suggest you have one of you beat guns where you need it most. I have my retired competition Sig (I am using my CZ Fire4Effect S2 in Carry Optics now).
      If you ever need to pull it you want to have the gun you shoot best. For the same reason I think people that only carry cheaper guns for fear of losing them to the law if they need to use one aren’t thinking through the only reason you’d ever need to use one.
      The full sized S2 is a great home defense gun as long as you can add a light to it.

    • @czarmorer

      If you're talking about the original grips scales (the skeletonized one) I think they are no longer being made even for the full size, or even the Tanfo. So if you really want that for your shadow2 compact, you might need to get a used one from somebody and fit it to the S2 Compact (it's possible).

    Awesome video, what are your thoughts on safety for carry on the shadow 2 compact? A lot of people are worried that it doesnt have a firing pin block. What are your thoughts on that?

    • @czarmorer
      @czarmorer  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      I'm glad you asked! This is actually something I had initially addressed on the video, but decided to cut it out when editing because the way I was saying was sounding much like I was backing up CZ as a manufacturer too much and that wasn't my intent - I'm [not] associated in any way shape or form with CZ-USA or CZ as a brand.
      Short answer:
      If you keep it stock, I wouldn't worry about it, and I would definitely have a S2C as my EDC. As a matter of fact, it is what I'm planning to do when I get mine.
      Longer answer:
      I actually did test this by hitting the heck out of a shadow2 hammer, when fully decocked, and checking for primer contact - I can tell you that with the original firing pin and spring, I wasn't able to make the firing pin contact the primer, even with my hardest hit, which I can assure you it had a lot more kinetic energy than it can be produced with a shadow2 falling down from your hands (regardless of how tall you are :)).
      So as long as you're not swapping the original firing pin and spring by an extended one with a weaker spring, I don't see the issue with the absent FP block.

    Can you please cover to how to increase the safety detent strength on the Shadow 2 compact? I’ve changed then spring to a heavier spring but it still feels light. I’d like to have it as strong and positive as a 1911 safety. I’ve read that CGW proposes increasing the notch depth on the safety and/or making the angle on the plunger more acute

    • @czarmorer
      @czarmorer  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Right, those are the mods I would suggest in order to achieve what you're looking for. I was able to use a much stronger spring on the detent and that was enough to give me a very positive safety engagement, but if the spring itself doesn't make the trick then the steps you have listed should help - Another thing to consider is using an adjustable sear and adjust the set screw down in a way that it makes more contact/pressure on the safety - however that will wear over time and your safety engagement will losen up (unless you keep replacing the set screw as it wears down).

      I would say that whole area, including the barrel, recoil spring and guide rod are of different dimensions enough not to be interchangeable.
