Awesome sounds, great tutorial! I recently picked up the Analog Keys synth (same as A4 Mk1) I was able to follow along for the most part. This really helped me understand how to program this synth and grasp the potential of the A4. Thank you so much!
@@GaryHayes I just configured my blue sky with the analog four: A4 Track 1 out 1 (track that I use for my pad)> Blue Sky> Ext in A 4. Super! I have the delay and the chorus in addition. The reverb is nicer than the one on the A4 which certainly isn't bad at all either, Thanks again!
@@gregmarshall1959 Cool - yes I love the ability to get poly meters going easily with track lengths and track tempo scale - also using the 2/3 track scale you can get some wonderful true poly rhythm stuff going too. Might do a whole separate one on that :)
@@GaryHayes one thing I notice - when setting up synth sounds you clearly have ADSR type envelope graphic shape showing - I only have rotary graphics - is this an OS type thing? (I'm on 1.35B)
@@gregmarshall1959 Yes - mine is 1.40A and they did some improvements in the UI, plus the other big things like Midi out per track and I believe more track scaling options etc:
Thanks you for your amazing video. Can you help me, hello, how to copy a pattern with all the parameters (tracks, pages, kit)? I'm new, thank you very much for your help!
Hello again Gary, I'm working through your series of video's/tutorials on the Analog Four with the intention of potentially purchasing one. However, I've posed a question to Elektron to which I've not had a reply so I'm hoping you may be willing to answer it for me. Question is: There's a review from Musictech stating that the A4 doesn't have a MIdi sequencer to control external gear however theres a video by Elektron Video Klub titled 'How to send the sequencer's Midi Out to external gear'. In your video's it certainly looks like you send A4 sequences to ext gear so would it be that it's only possible to send one sequence and that's via the CV Track? Thanks
Erase the pattern on each track and clear the sound on each track. I then save this as a 'kit' so it's easy to recall. To clear a sound press and hold the track button on the top right and then press the clear/play button. To clear a pattern on a track, just press 'rec/copy' button so it shows the steps and then Function/Clear ... takes a few seconds.
Do you use Blue Sky reverb instead of A4s reverb as additional [?] and for Some tracks or All tracks?-- I’m just curious because I think if one were only using one external effect it would be one which isn’t already in the A4 or am I missing something??
Cheers Daz - yes certainly different sounds, the FM digitone vs the analog circuitary of the analog four. I think each has it's place, but like you I prefer the a4ii, which is why I got a 2nd one!
Thank you very much for sharing your workflow. Very inspiring!
My pleasure! Al
Now that’s how it should be used......bravo.
Cheers Paul!
Thank you for this tutorial and your other videos., Since I discovered you channe I keep coming back. I really enjoy your videos / music. peace & love
Thanks Costa - thanks for returing and watching. Appreciated!

Cool, thanks TS207!!
Amazing! Thx 🚀
Glad you like it!
Excellent tutorial. I've struggled with the A4 so this has given me some new ideas to try!
Scott Brown I’m the same and I’ve owned many synths / sequencers since the 80s. It’s very idiosyncratic.
Cheers Scott - sorry this comment has been buried in my 'to reply' box for nearly a year :)
fantastic A4 i use it for evrething
Yes probably my desert island synth, besides my portable modular :)
Thank You very much my friend. Amazing tutorial. Really efficient !!!
Glad it helped! SC :)
Wonderful. I intend to study this video, as I have just purchased the Analog 4.
Enjoy! One of my favourite instruments! Cheers Arzt
@@GaryHayes one week in and Im blown away. So much...too much maybe...depth in this one. Oh well, thats Elektron for you.
@@maarzt yes a hidden gem, once you get past the basics though it does become a true musical instrument :)
Amazing, What a great machine! Thank you.

Yes it is a pretty special verb on the Strymon 'skys' - have fun!
Ok, i think i'm gonna need one of these.
GAS strikes again :)
Sounds lovely and very helpful!
Glad you think so! Darku
The a4 sounds so damn good in this!
Thanks Michael - yes it certainly has it's own analog flavour, which beats it's digital cousins imho :)
Brilliant 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks Jo !
With a big fat warm drone like that, All Shall be Forgiven ;)
Do I have things to forgive!? Cheers Noya
Great. Just bought an A4 mk2.
A great machine :) Enjoy!
Gary P Hayes I used this tutorial as a basis to experiment with v low tempo and different Track lengths.

Cheers Morris - I very rarely do that but doing a basic pattern copy should bring every thing across too? Will have to look later - away from pad atm
excelente mi bro saludos
tahnks San Pler!
i realize I am kinda randomly asking but do anybody know a good website to stream newly released movies online ?
@Landry Ayaan I use flixzone. You can find it by googling =)
Thanks for this great tutorial :)b
No problem Trent - hopefully easy to follow?
The tutorial is very clear and easy to follow. Great job!
Hey Gary, great piece like it a lot!! heading to aussie soon, not sure if you r in mel or not but rlly hope to play A4 with you! ;)
Actually in the Blue Mountains, about 2 hours west of Sydney. Have a great time here!

Hi Lynton - you can send MIDI from any or all of the 6 tracks, 1-4 which are built in musical tracks plus the FX and CV - cheers
@@GaryHayes Many thanks Gary.

The A4 doesn't have a shimmer style reverb, so in this piece I don't use the internal A4 reverb of course
Sounds like the terminator
Nice - cheers JL
.... SIMPLE .... Autechre music ... it all depends on the machine used ....
yup
sounds loads better then digitone to me..yes i know digitone is digital ha

I have tried a few VAs before - generally like to impro on analogs
