    This morning my better decision was to eat a healthy breakfast instead of fasting all day (then inevitability binging at night). I'm hoping this effort will help me break the cycle.

    I had my first relapse in two years today and this honestly brought me complete comfort and a big smile of how simple it is to just be better all over again . Thank you so much for the simple, honest, warm approach and the realism... this mindset is exactly how I recovered too. Thank you for making this a whole bunch :-). Changed my day for sure! We up in here making “better decisions” 🥳👍🏻👍🏻

    Thank you for posting :) most stories are about anorexia only and about how to eat again. I have struggled with that too but I started off with binge eating disorder so thanks to my anorexia it turned into bulimia which I am still stuck in. I managed not to do it for two years but that's because I was only binging without the purging aka I gained a lot of weight
    Now I'm where I started. Overweight with an unhealthy relationship with food lol

    1. accept that you have a problem 1:38
    2. To believe that today's the day you start the process of recovery (doesnt mean you recover in one night; skip one binge for today; make one betyer decision at least today; don't go too fast) 1:51
    3. Recovery isnt linear and you need to accept that 5:06
    4. accept a temporary weight gain for your body to stop the binge and the purge part 6:06
    5. Accept the cost of recovery; accept the absence of the "high"/pleasure of a binge 6:48
    6. Accept that there isnt a one-day recovery;
    7. 9:28 Focus on the long term benefits of recovery (self confidence; health)
    8. 10:41 transition to a healthy diet slowly

    I feel like my body is going through withdrawal does anyone else feel this way?

      It is completely normal! There’s a lot of resistance when you decide to change. Your body is trying to recover and it’s important to give yourself the care you need.. be kind to yourself❤️

    It’s really comforting to know that I can lose the weight at another time when I’m feeling better, that was my main concern about recovery

    Great advise you have to accept that you will gain weight after you stop purging but also you can lose it in healthy way. Thanks 🙏

    Maybe before I turn 30 in November , I can finally go an entire month without a binge/ purge episode . My heart just wants to stop at this point .

    Out of all of the videos out there, all the ted talks, yours helped me have a few mental clicks. I am doing much better now, muuuch better. And the trick with the salad does work. Or binging on radishes if not!

    Love the tip of starting with small decisions and mini quits! Takes away from the all of nothing mentality - which kept me stuck for so LONG!!!!

    before covid i almost found a good recovery and in October i just completely stopped caring about myself and couldn’t even keep my meds down. it was so bad i had to switch the meds to the morning and eventually after a long winter and moving out im down 15 lb again from a mostly clean method!! i have had a rough couple of weeks, but this video really helped. it’s totally not linear, and it can suck if you rush it (:

    Remember weight gain is going to mostly be water weight. You can gain 5-10lbs of water weight in the first week or two. It’s not Fat and please don’t regress. Limit this weight gain by eating lower carb foods (every gram of carb you hold your body retains 3gs of water with it) drink plenty of water and watch your sodium. Increase your potassium! Honestly it makes soooo much difference to feeling fat

    Hi I would like to know how we can relearn to have binge foods in a way that is not overeating and then beating ourselves up. I would like to have the fear foods well...without fear-!

    Hey Kevin; thank you so much for this video. I feel like I shouldn’t still be dealing with this problem in my 30s. I’m going to start with trying to cut binging or purging during the night and see if that helps. Does anyone have any resources for online or Telehealth ED therapists ?

      More 30-year-olds deal with this than you think. It's not exclusive to college students.

    not purging after a binge is the better decision - no fasting , no vomiting , no exercise. but hell is it hard...

  • @hajarhajar8906
    @hajarhajar8906 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I disagree with you! If you try to deprive yourself from cookies you’ll relapse. When in recovery it’s okay to eat .
    Sorry

    • @fiorelaquipildor8507
      @fiorelaquipildor8507 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It's not deprivation, it's recovering from bulimia. If you know you'll binge on cookies if you have one right now (starting recovery) it's better to avoid it until you're ready to eat that food without feeling the need to purge.
      Sorry
