As someone who isn't too well-versed in the TMNT lore, I want to say.... That final boss looks like a cross between Metal Sonic and a Space Pirate from the Metroid series. And that..... is cool.

_Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge_ takes after the Konami games based on the 1987 series while _TMNT_ on Game Boy Advance is based on the 2007 CGI film.
I think they just needed a "street level" first boss for the Turtles so they can slowly escalate to "four immortal Aztec generals over a dimensional portal". Confused me as a kid, too.
They were made with the intention of being able to follow any continuity, comics, original films, cartoons, etc. I personally see it as the 4th Turtles movie, but this game and the toyline incorporated many 2003 things, so it can go any which way really.

I never understood why this game scored well back in the day. I remember buying it and not enjoying the gameplay. Everything felt like a chore instead of fun. Every turtle looks the same and enemies are damage sponges with repetitive patterns. Still have it but never liked it
I only remember having the ds version of this game when i was younger it was the first game i beat and it was pretty fun but id say when i turned about 12 went i went into a gamechange and bought a copy of the gba version of tmnt this game it wasnt so fun it was good but i dont remember that much from playing it

The audio is very high quality for a Game Boy Advance video game! It doesn't sound like it has been compressed at all!
It looks and sounds like something you'd see in a retro-style indie game today.
