- Another fishing trip but this time a drive west across 2 county's to Hampshire. the first venue we fished was Lee-on-Solent followed by a short session at Haslar Sea Wall, Gosport. The fishing was tough but the whole area is very beautiful and the weather was lovely so it made for an enjoyable day fishing.

Couldn’t gift this newbie that’s dedicated to the game, one of your 30 + rods year & a half I’m still struggling to get a decent trust worthy set up that won’t make me sell my car to buy hahah being 21 my outgoings are terrific 😃 I’ll get there had my first ever shaw hound at Sandy point roughly 4/5 pound & man what a achievement, Caught on my home made pulley rig💙

I didn't realise! Next time I will put a little post on TH-cam and we can do a meet. It was extremely hard going the day we went down. I didn't speak to anyone that caught a fish🤦♂️😭
Haslar sea wall always looks as though it would fish rather well, rest assured it doesn`t. I used to live in Gosport, over 30 years, and fished it many many times. Fish are few and far between. Only
times i have caught fish are at night or very close in to the wall for bass or mullet. Mackerel and garfish in the summer, but again you can catch though down the bay too and there you will have a greater chance of everything else. Avoid the wall at al cost, unless you really want to try for that massive bass or conger close in.
It did look sooo fishy but I've heard that it's not that good from someone else too. Very strange🤔
@@gsp a great spot for large bass close in and big smooth hounds from the beach is very close by. happy to pass on details if your ever coming down this way again and doing a video.

Unfortunately the tides in the Solent can be a nightmare,and that’s before you add in the weed 😩. You tried your best,probably be a better venue at night 🐟🎣
I think so too and I will definitely giving it another, perhaps in darkness. 👍
Been there today bloody freezing blanked couple of small bites I put down to crabs ? Got talking to a local if you look were you were fishing need to be about 250 300 meters down towards Portsmouth he recons fishes good at night , were you leave car park straight ahead were the rocks are fishes good in summer on the lure for bass , for future reference 😅 tight lines

New subscriber here. I fish all up the Solent. I love fishing Lee on Solent from the kayak but I prefer Stokes Bay or Gilkicker Fort from the beach. Night time as well as others have mentioned

Unlucky buddy, good effort though, and a great watch as always. Not sure when this was filmed, but the bream are starting to show now, on the Isle of Wight anyway, I know you said you came to the island last year I think, give me a shout if you pop over again. @@gsp blackgang is like folklore over here😂😂, some great fishing to be had down there. Mega treck, but I think worth it. I've tried once and got blown out, not a plug, but have a look on one of my vids and you can see the journey down. There is access to the other side of the beach via a rope, but I haven't plucked the courage to have a go. Travelling light is a must👍👍
Haslar can be a cracking venue. It throws up some real surprises.
Does it fish better at night and is it really deep or just a few meters?
@@gsp it's not that deep close in but there are a few holes. There's a channel further out. It does fish well at night but ca do equally as well during the day in summer. I've had stingray, hounds and conger all into double figures. My pb black bream came from there. Mullet, gars, mackerel, undulate. Gurnard. I've even seen someone pull in a lobster.

@@gsp not really. Just the odd big fish. Western solent is better for bream in my opinion.
I love bream fishing so want to find a good mark where shoals of the get in. I'm definitely gonna explore the solent more, by shore and by sib

Lee on solent is 10 mins away from me. Never really had much decent there. Normally end up travelling up to hurst castle. As close to the Isle of white needles as you can get from this side. Anywhere along the jurassic coast have produced a better stamp of fish for me. Enjoyed the video though. Cheers
Best to check the tide before you go up there though. The current is unfishable at times
I have looked at Hurst Castle before and seen that it's a bit of a trek. Im just worried of driving such a long way and then finding it unfishable but I suppose it's nothing worse than what I encountered in this vid🤦♂️😂😂. Thanks for watching hikinguphigh and thanks for the advice👍
@@gsp if you go on an ebbing neap tide all is fine. Just got to plan when to go. It is quite a long trek if you go all the way to the castle, but alot don't, I normally go around half way. Also have a ferry running in the summer that takes you to the castle and all your kit which is nice.
The ferry sounds like a god send😂 I will try and fish it this year as it has been on my radar👍
Just subscribed as I'm interested in beach fishing, do you guys ever fish really really rocky beaches I'm talking gullies boulders etc guarantee tackle loss but potentially many species also do you ever beach cast shallow shelving sandy beaches? Most of the beaches close to me are one or the other and the only beaches with shingle running into deep water fast shelving are not easy accessible for me 30 miles away no public transport goes there and no transport, anyway just wondering if you had any good tips for both rocky and òr slow shelving sand beaches?
The only place I fish with completely rocky bottom is samphire hoe, where if I fish at distance I use a rotten bottom or if fishing for a big fish I would use a dongle rig th-cam.com/video/si8eiV9NvaY/w-d-xo.html
I will be fishing shallow sandy beaches soon so keep peeled to the channel and I am going to explore more places soon. Thanks for the sub Robbie👍👍

Fishing Haslar wall the fish can be right at your feet patrolling alongside the edge.
It did look as though a big bass could be caught at your feet on the right evening and it strikes me as a good lure venue too🤔. Thanks for the tip Mark👍 when I'm back down there I'll give it a go
Never caught anything other than some mackerel, small whiting, pouting and school bass from the beach in 30 yrs of living there. Different in Devon !!!

The Solent is very much a venue for fishing in the dark….

Wrong place at the wrong time. I don't bother going there in daylight. That red flag is always there regardless. I don't know if the MOD still own it. They sold a lot off, but the signes are still there.
