- "Hakeem Olajuwon - Low Post Master" is a post moves highlights compilation I made for one of the best Centers in NBA History, Hakeem Olajuwon. It includes the very specific post moves in low post by Hakeem Olajuwon (not just about dream shakes).
This video is basically compiling the other channel's clips and remove those with bad video quality and audio quality, to make a clear version for Hakeem's post move compilation. So for the original video, you can refer to the following channel:

I had a guy tell me “Dirk is the best international player in nba history.” I said “have u ever heard of Hakeem Olajuwon?” He said, wit the puzzled looked, “who is that?” I said, “I think we’re done here.”
Yet Hakeem has played for Dream Team before, hard to argue he’s international
@@zhugelianges I think the bigger point here is that the guy didn't even know who Hakeem Olajuwon was
@@coloneldignos6792 lol hard to even imagine an NBA fan didn't even know Hakeem Olajuwon
Tim Duncan is international too
@@user-di4ec1bk1d nahhh
Hakeem is a top 10 player all time. One of only four players in NBA history to have a quadruple double. Could do it all at a high level. I used to have a book called Basketball Almanac where it listed the strengths and weaknesses of almost every nba player. Hakeem had like half a page under strengths and like one sentence for weaknesses. He didn’t take a lot of 3s. That was it. Criminally underrated.
Remember that Wilt had a quintuple double besting Olajuwon
@@marvingoffe1297 too early of an era tbf
@@marvingoffe1297 I am a wilt fan but let's be honest the NBA was a baby at the time and people like us who play casually could have played in the NBA back then lol.
@@marcellowheeler88 not only that most of his stats weren't physically recorded we're going off eyewitness testimony basically
@@marvingoffe1297 let's be real if wilt played in the 80's and 90's where he had to see Kareem, Moses, Parish, Ewing, Robinson, Olajuwon, Shaq, Mourning, Mutombo, etc on a nightly basis he'd be closer to 27 and 11 for season averages 🤷♂️
Playing soccer really helped him develop his footwork
I think hakeem is the most complete center in nba history, he is like jordan that the weakest part of their game is passing but thats bcoz their so dominant in both ends of the floor.
I could watch Dream highlights all day. Definitely need more!
his footwork made him impossible to guard. He could literally counter anything
Hakeem has all the thing/all the skills you want for a center. No doubt about it.
My favorite player of all time by a mile with Larry bird being 2nd
Can we agree that both Hakeem and Larry were just poetry in motion and pure skill???
@@stillsmokntreeson hakeem yes, on bird no
Its not just his athleticism and craftiness. But his confidence that he will beat you with his post moves and that he trusts that he will make his every shot. You cant teach that to everyone.
I can't remember Hakeem getting mad/frustrated. He kept calm the whole game.
@@targetegrat facts man. 🔥
@@targetegrat Maybe not Hakeem, but Akeem was a completely different animal.
I'd take the Dream over any other center ever to start a team around. Hands down
Versatility is king sometimes
u tripping. even tim duncan?
@@xxlslam1 Tim is a PF
@@xxlslam1 and over tim duncan either way
Bill Russell is a guy, tho. 11 championships in 13 yrs including 8 straight. Hakeem is great, but he's no Bill Russell
Shaq dominated everyone... Except for Olajuwon. There was no answer to Hakeem, the man did whatever he wanted whenever he wanted. Don't forget he's arguably also the greatest defensive player ever as well. Top 10 in blocks... and Steals.... as a center.
He retired in top 10 for points, assists, steals and of course blocks
Well hes top 1 in blocks in nba history so yea
Hes #1 in blocks actually and #9 in steals
no need to say top 10 hes top 1 in blocks by a far margin although wilt, bill russel and kareem would probably be up there if they counted blocks back then
I use to enjoy watching Olajuwon play for the Rockets. Post game was unmatched! The G.O.A.T!!!
Indeed, he's the GOAT
Have u guys ever heard of some dude named michael jefferey jordan?
@@tinezakotnik15 jordan said himself they could not contain hakeem he was just amazing
@@yes.9249 no shit no guard can't contain a center u dumbass. even curry can't contain serge ibaka even tho curry is much better
Let’s all keep in mind that this dude was so good that no one blamed Houston for picking him over MJ. Obviously MJ had a better career but this dude is still top 10 all time
Agreed 💯
No 1 center for me. I'll pick the dream over 2 fat shaqs any time
Portland picked Sam Bowie before MJ. Porkland picked Oden over Durant. Lillard gone too. Sucks being a blazer fan.
Hakeem won championships by solo play, MJ had a great team. Both are GOATs no doubt though
@@SpeakTheTruth-gk8dqGreg oden is good injuries ruined hes career
His skill level was incredible but the best thing about him is how he handled double teams. Either he made a move so quick the defender didn’t get theirs or he just outright destroyed the double with his footwork.
Been watching basketball for over fourty years and this man absolutely is the most skilled center ever to play the game. All due respect to the Big Dipper, the Big Fundamental, the Diesel and the Skyhook. You guys were great but I’d pick Hakeem the Dream over every last one of you.
Though I am a fan of Tim Duncan, I agree with what you say. Hakeem is the most skilled center ever to play the game.
I agree with being the most skilled center ever, but I would still pick prime Wilt over prime Hakeem. Just my preference. Wilt dominated like no one in points, rebound and blocks. Even assists, late in his career when he decided to stop scoring.
everytime he do his post moves i see kobe..miss u men
I miss Kobe too...
Kobe took his Post move course from the Dream. Along with LBJ, Melo, Howard, Stoudamire and a host of others.
@mikey last kobe was a greater and better player than this man
@@xxlslam1 Bullshit
@@xxlslam1 Hakeem is better Look at his defense!!!
Imagine if Giannis learned this moves rather than bullying his way into the basket.
Giannis would be unstoppable at that time...Hopefully he would not learn these moves
Still wouldn't be as clutch as hakeem
@@zhugelianges He would be unstoppable with these moves because now these days big man bully their way into basket or shoot 3s and Hakeem said that though the league is more based on shooting and everyone relys more on offense and skill he said that big men in todays league dont take advantage of learning and focusing more on the post because he said Embiid at that time focused more on shooting and expanding his game now in his MVP caliber season he is getting more points because he's taking advantage of the post and adding those moves in his game.
He’s learning.
Imagine if Giannis did that as well as learn to shoot the basketball... then we'd have Michael Jordan 2.0
5:55 that Move was Like Pure Butter So Smooth !!
Thanx for taking the time to give us a Hakeem highlight !!
So smooth.. so graceful...
Hakeem's footwork is so damn smooth. He's top 10 for sure, those moves are too nice.
one of my idols
My idol too
Hakeem’s footwork comes from him playing soccer before focusing on hoops. Can you imagine him as a goalie? He wouldn’t even have to jump.
his speed reaching the ground would be insanely slow tho
Kobe played soccer too in Italy, maybe that helped his elite footwork.
Its not soccer that gave him this ability, it was his mom and dad. Millions of people play soccer.
His idol was pelé
Hakeem's quickness and light feet was the main reason he dominated his opponents.
His face up moves are lightening quick, which is unstoppable
True but he wasn't one of these lightweight doormat speedy guys though he was the best shot blocker in the league when he played and couldn't be bullied. So you really don't have to choose between lockdown D and smooth, agile scoring.
Hakeem was a force. Feetwork and agility of a small forward. Other than McHale perhaps the beat low postman there is. They called him Dreamshake for a reason.
Hakeem got 2 chips and all defensive team.
@@bryon5284 wtf. Ummm....Shaq? The most dominant big man in NBA history. Once he was deep in the low post it was nearly impossible to stop
@@x-man9473 Bruv even shaq cannot stop hakeem watch how Hakeem schooled a Prime Shaq in the 95 finals.
Due to busy work, I did not have time to double check the clip, it seems that some clips are not edited well...I will be careful next time. Sorry about that.
His foot work was magical.
That’s why it’s known as dream shake 😆
@@zhugelianges yeah very hard to guide and with many counter moves .
Everyone acknowledges Olajuwon's wonderful footwork, but watching this vid, I notice how strong he is. It takes strength to get those shots off and finish so well.
Incredible footwork.
True
Just like dancing step, beautiful move!!
Let's dance! haha
Guards around the league were asking for video of "The Dream." That's how good his footwork was....
In my opinion olajuwon is better than shaq
Thank you and God bless
Bro made me genuinely excited to watch post moves. Prime Hakeem was so entertaining
I really wish more players would go to hakeem for training. The game would be so much more interesting with bigs that can actually operate in the post with multiple moves.
It’s makes me upset that the nba style of play basically makes post moves almost unviable! Everybody wants threes! I’d rather see an up and under or good footwork!
Me too.
What a shame we cannot see such kinds of up and under moves anymore.
Ya, not anymore in NBA
No doubt. I like threes when they are in "big shot" situations, like Horry used to do. Not every possession. Definitely think post play should make a comeback.
You can thank Jordan and Kobe for everyone wanting to play like a guard. And then finally Curry officially ending the era of bigmen now everyone wants to run around shooting 3's
@@jamievana8991 to be honest though there hasn't been much good post up players since late 2000s. Alot of Bigs not coming in to the league with that skill and then they're being forced to learn to shoot 3s or get little game time
@@OldZilla I meant Jordan and Kobe took all the focus away from bigmen. No youths were saying they wanted to be like Shaq or Duncan or Hakeem. They wanted the ball in their hands, dribbling and taking shots like Jordan and Kobe. Curry added to that now where everyone just wants to shoot 3s from everywhere
Sadly overlooked in the GOAT debate. Could do anything.
Probably one of the Greatest Peak GOAT season in 1994 - 1995...
Greatest individual playoffs run ever.
Easily my favorite center of all time. Gave everybody that work!
Great job!!

There is always a help/double team. Greatness
Beautiful...
Yes
Most guys look to pass out of the double team but they didn't really affect hakeem he just got creative. Incredible talent and work ethic as he was a raw ex soccer player who mainly dunked.High IQ player.
I've seen a few people people in street ball utilising moves from Olajuwon, Magic and Mj at once and my god it creates a holy trinity of game my dudes.
Street ball guys seldom use the moves from Hakeem, I guess they use more moves from Kobe or Curry instead
Rare to see a big man take it off the dribble from the 3 point line
Heard that the Dream has been playing as guard when he's young? I am not sure if it's real
@@zhugelianges not real. He did not even start playing at all till he was 16. Unless that's what you meant by young.
Imagine a 90s team of:
Pg: Mahmoud Abdul Rauf
Sg: Michael Jordan
Pf: Karl Malone
Sf: Kobe
Center: Hakeem Olajuwan
15 feet and in, Hakeem was a bigger stronger Kevin Durant, that rebounds and block shots like a beast. The best big man EVER. Would be GOAT in the modern NBA.
They Dream shake was unguardable
Truly it was
I read in an interview where MJ has Hakeem in his top starting 5 all time.
Very agile and skillful big-man!
Yes if you just talk about the skills, perhaps Hakeem is number 1 lol
zhugelianges Name a Big Man that could guard Hakeem?
Hakeem was one the best Post Defenders of all-time and could guard any big man. If Hakeem played in LA everyone would consider the BEST big man of all-time.
@@zhugelianges He was more athletic than skilled early in his career since he started playing so late in life. He did not reach peak skills till early 30's. Due to his late start his peaks in skills and athleticism never overlapped. Lord only knows how great he would have been if he reached max skills in his mid to late 20's. Maybe around 1988 insread of 1993. He was so raw his early years.
Crazy that the moment he got the ball in the post he'll get double teamed. That's how scary he was in the post.
Best post scorer of all time
Agree with you, bro
The center who broke ankles! I’m glad I saw it as it was happening.
Is there any way to have footwork skill set like Hakeem if so that would be much appreciated
Hakeem...el mejor centro ofensivo. .que a dado la NBA..rápido .. entre los 10 mejores jugadores ..de TT
@5.39 and 5.49 shows why Hakeem had the best footwork of any big man ever.
Best post moves in nba history
Yah, together with Kevin McHale and Michael Jordan
The fact that Hakeem has 2,162 steals and the next Center on that list is David Robinson at 1,388 is insane. That right there is a true unicorn. How on Earth does Hakeem have more steals than guys like Kobe, Westbrook, freaking Allen Iverson?
Look at all those fouls he could've drawn today... yet he didn't. No one did back in the day. These days, once a player has a defender up in the air, the frickin shit is no longer the priority anymore, they jump into the defender to draw a foul... instead of going up strong &/or shooting the shot you set yourself up for. I hate players today, AND they complain after every single call
You ain't lying
The "Dream shake".
I really miss seeing the Sonics home court
Lol you are such a bad boy lol
You know that Hakeem just couldn't play well against the Sonics Frontcourt.
If MJ pick Hakeem as 5 all time starter according to him, then believe MJ, Hakeem is truly special. Top 5 all time best NBA Center.
True
IMO Hakeem's biggest low post weapon was his ability to attack quickly off the catch. the move he teaches Dwight on 0:14 is something I still have yet to see in anybody else. Embiid -- the closest player we have to Hakeem -- does not have that move. i have yet to see anybody else in today's game add that to their game. they have the moves, the fakes, or the spins; but none of them acquired the ability to attack and spin as soon as you land on two feet.
this isn't a knock on the other players. I'm sure this particular move requires you to scan the floor and react accordingly if the spacing in the paint will allow for a quick spin. it's just mesmerizing to me that no one has yet to inherit Hakeem's ~complete arsenal. he was that good
Agree with you, bro.
Hakeem was pretty much the most complete players with the fancy and complete post moves, efficient and lethal.
He could just kill the games by his moves.
top 10 all time in my books
The dream might as well be speaking mandarin, Dwight looks totally confused the fact is u can’t teach agility like Hakeem had
Best skilled centre of all generations. Hakeem. His skills can be applied to all types of centres but its the matter if you can master it.
We need to get back to this big man skill..
No way Silver would let you do that bro...
Best center of all time imo
It's crazy to think that Dream played bigger than he was. With exception of Alonzo Mourning, who was around his height, Dream was shorter than all than centers of his era such as Robinson, Shaq, Ewing, Mutumbo, Jabbar, Smits, Eaton.
a lot of his moves could actually be used by guards such as the spin and fade
I agree with you, lots of moves are actually utilised by guards.
u can see that influence in modern guards like Luka or Booker
Best foot work in the the game. Nobody's better
Jordan or The Dream? I gotta go with the dream to start my team.
Well the 84 draft did that howd that work out 6-2??🤔
Hakeem wasted his time teaching Dwight
I swear 😭😭
lmao
Was I the only one that thought Howard was gonna get better by learning from Hakeem & McHale?
For the Low Post Series, please watch next:

Did I just watch Hakeem do a crossover 10 years before AI? DAMN!
Magic dance at low post
More than Lebron vs Kobe, it was unfortunate that we never saw Hakeem vs Jordan in the finals.
:(
Well Magic vs Michael 1991 finals series was intense as well even tho it just ends in 5 games.
Howard still averaged 20 points withaut post moves so inspirative
Big men these days can’t even imitate Dream’s footworks.
Indeed, the closest one would be Joel Embiid, but hell he was way too far from Hakeem's level...
God of low post
True, the best big man with the best post moves
Prime olajuwon and prime shaq are the last true centers....................
Ummm...You’re right man
I miss that hook with him almost everytime in 2k. Help.
High Post like Hakeem, I gotta lotta things to drop, Brooklyn to Queens
Jordan who is your favorite player in your era whos skills is so damn good, michael said""he is the ""dream"
Dwight Howard never picked up the tips from Olajawon

Hakeem is also the GOAT on defense
Put this on a loop for eternity 3:05

Nah, didn't agree with that, bro lol
I don’t care how dominant you are, you could be Shaq, Wilt, Russell, Kareem, doesn’t matter, Hakeem is going to score on you repeatedly in the post
Playoffs Hakeem is unstoppable force under the block
He travels (by picking up his pivot foot) on every play
It says Hakeem is 7"0 And Howard is 6"10 but they look identical in height ? Did Olajuwon shrink due to age?
Hakeem was looking like a combination of McHale and Shaq.
Watch many of todays players like Nikola jovic you’ll see them using Hakeem’s patented moves.
Howard nunca aplico esos excelentes movimientos eso es porque ahy deportista sin ningún talento se valen de su capacidad Atletica y no mejoran sus falencias.
