Half of these kids talking shit about Rick never even knew him. Most of the problems starred with him bootlegging people's merch and selling it in his "hardcore flea market". But to keep it real EVERY hardcore kid was stoked when that shit came thru town and that man had a bigger love for hardcore and done more for the scene than almost anyone else I can think of, despite all the shit people were saying about him.
Rick suffered a TBI a few years back and, from what Ive read in interviews with the members of this lineup is attempting to get help. All these fools piling on to shit on him, kicking a dude while hes down, are just talking shit to sound tough. Rick can be a human meme sometimes (okay, a lot of the time) and he has said some real heinous shit as of late but yo, unless you have a legit beef, stop acting like you want the smoke. Also people still bought shit from the Healy Mystery Machine. If you ever downloaded some shit off some sketch blogspot, get off the dick. At least you had to go to a show to find Rick’s distro.
Bootlegging the music and merch of the ppl in your own scene is not having "a bigger love for hardcore and done more for the scene than almost anyone else'. Infact its the opposite. I grew up in the 90’s nyhc era. I played in hc bands & went to tons of shows & hung out with a lot of these guys. It was & probably still is a small scene/community. Everybody knows each other or at least has mutual friends. All the top bands & all the lesser known bands & fans hang out in the same crews. That being said, I remember even back then everyone always hated Rick. The biggest complaint was him bbootlegging all the other bands tapes without permission. He would copy them on the cheapest cassettes to make more profit. Now u had all these shit quality copies of all the albums/demos circulating. I don’t know him personally. I’ve met him a few times back in the day & he always seemed like a nice guy to me. I’m just telling you what i’ve heard from people that knew him.
My close friends still to this day were in a band name DirtNap and he put out their 7 inch and they never saw a penny for it. I couldn't really say how many copies he sold because they weren't a popular band but still he took advantage of kids playing music and profited off of them. I also questioned Rick about it on Instagram and he blocked me because the truth hurts.
