Super helpful video for someone who is unfamiliar with this setup. One thing to add...the alternator and bracket are aluminum, so mine was seized solid. It needed a spray of penetrating oil and a couple of love taps to break that metal loose. After that, wiggling worked just fine.
No mine wasn't stuck. Spray PB blaster on it. If you have to jack up the engine a little higher with a block of wood, that also makes it easier to get to.
So I havnt jacked my motor yet to pull it out because after I loosened the top bolt off the alternator fell right off the mount!! Do I need to replace the whole mount assembly now pulleys and all? You said the bottom bolt just sits in a groove?
@@Jedi_Luke it's dark I can't really tell how big the mount is if it includes pulleys or what that bracket it even called and do I really even need to replace it?
@@MikeDoohan The bracket has 2 small pulleys on it, you can transfer them over to a new bracket if need be. I'm confused at what you're saying tho, do you mean the groove on the bottom is broken?
I took the 17mm top bolt out and tried lift the engine but the whole car Starts to lift. Am I missing something. Is there another mount that needs to be removed
This was my customers car. He just wanted the Alternator changed, but yes it is a good time to change the belt as well, since it has to be removed anyway.

Just press in on the harness and while holding it in press the clip and pull the whole thing out, it's the same as every other wire harness. This is probably the easiest part of the job lol.
@@Jedi_LukeOne more question... The back connection is off but there is one on the side that the new alternator doesn't have. Did you only have one connector for that alternator? My apologies for the dumb question.
Has anyone ever had problems lining the bottom bolt back up? Same part, no problems with removal, but can't get the bolt to align. We HAVE been doing this with the car not on jack stands, but are finding some later today.
Jack stands are needed so you can put the jack and a block of wood under the engine to lift it up and down, so you'll be able to slide the bolt back in

If you loosen the bracket that is bolted to the motor it is easier to line up on the motor mount.There are three of them.

Just put a 2x4 block of wood about 6-8 inches long underneath the oil pan.
Was your alternator stuck whenever to took the bottom bolt off mine does not want to come off it is stuck in the groove.

I just removed the one mount. Are you sure you have the jack in the right place? If you have it on the subframe then it's gonna shift the whole car.

That's the easiest part. You just gotta line the holes up.

Same way you got it out. If you have the motor mount out and the engine on a jack, then you can jack the engine up and down to give you enough room.
I have completely removed the bottom bolt and applied a ton of PB Blaster....I cannot get it free. Any suggestions?
Try a Long pipe on the end of your ratchet to give you more leverage
