If it would help you, do some of these prayers 1)burn incense in your home if possible, perhaps in front of such a statue.2) Bow slightly before the sun every morning as it rises 3) Say "Tian (Zun Ling Bao) Di (Hao)" or a related Chinese song once daily. 4) Read "Tao De Jing" by Lao Zi. If any of this helps offer your thanks and maybe let us know in the comments section. These are some easy outward Taoist religious practices (Xiao) anyone can do.

link to the Tao de Jing, the most fundamental principles of Taoism. Perhaps reading this is more fundamental to the philosophy than the outward rituals, but both studying the texts and performing outward physical/oratory rituals are important and complement each other. Inward understanding stems from the outward study and rituals. You may notice your overall life habits improve if you learn that the eternal Tao, which has no temporary attributes, turns out to be every eternal attribute that ever is was or will be. By the Way Confucius is a different religion/philosophy/teaching than Laozi/Taoism, but they are now often intertwined in Chinese traditional culture, and have been for a really long time. Best to read Lao Zi before reading Confucius, if Taoism interests you the most out of the two. Confucius wrote the "I de Ching," which you'll find on the same website. www.sacred-texts.com/ich/index.htm May the Infinitude of Spirits bless you.

Riastrad Anyone(most) that's not Christian thinks that Christian hymns of 'rituals' sound funny. You're a Christian right?

@Riastrad no need to be racist about it.
As an exchristian, Christian hymns do indeed sound just as if not more weird than Taoist chanting.

Dao is a cosmic principle. Without attributes. So is it a god? Can be. This song is religious, but not outwardly. Not like other "hymns".

@young owl daoism? recite dao de jing translation in chinese. if you want sanskrit mantra (indian subcontinent philosophies, buddhism hinduism) start with "om" and work from there. Buddhism always uses sanskrit daoism chinese. Anyone can practice these mantras or recitations, no formal conversion is necessary to get the full benefits of mantra as it works on the inherent power of the spoken word. Religion attached to mantra helps most chanters but is not strictly required.
