I love how you can see the Next chord coming, Your system of showing the backing track is awesome and makes for easy understanding it. Easy understanding it.
This is one of my favourite backing tracks ever. I feel like an absolute God improvving over this. I mix the blue scale, minor pentatonic, aeloian and Dorian occasionally, and I get quite a diverse solo. I played around with the harmonics and also bending them, like John Mayer. Also tried some finger tapping. Lovely work

How do you go about memorizing/learning a new scale? Is there any tricks, or do you just go through note by note?

This is an absolute dream to improvise over. I've been approaching this as a D minor pentatonic, but with some "out" notes during the Aaug7 (switching to a D harmonic minor hits some cool tensions that resolve themselves rather intuitively).
That's because A aug 7 is better written as A7b13, and when you play D harmonic minor over A7 you are actually playing the 5th mode of D harmonic minor (A mixolydian (b9,b13), which is designed to work over A7. Also, I'd argue that none of those were really "out" notes, except for the D note actually! Next time try using that same harmonic minor scale but try hitting the D notes on weak beats only.

The D7sus2 is actually a Dminor 9.(sus 2 implies there is no 3rd, but there totally is in the backing track). And the "A aug 7" is actually an A7(b13). It's sort of important, because "aug" implies that the 5th is sharp and there is no natural 5th, but actually no, you can totally play the natural 5th (E) over that A7. It's got a flat 13, not a #5 :)

It can't be a Dminor9 because that implies the presence of a minor seventh. And that Aaug7 is an Aaug7.
@@XenoghostTV there IS a b7 in there. Listen closer. Also A7b13 is almost never written as Aaug7 - it just isn't the right name. secondary. If you really wanted to write it as implying an augmentation, you could say A7(#5)
I love getting my guitar to sing to this track. Absolutley beautiful chords and transitions. It's actually a lot of inspiration to start recording and posting my own material, keep up the passion 🤘
A track like this can serve as conduit for some very introspective musing, color me impressed. I wonder, though, why it's getting rarer to find musicians sharing their attempts in the commenting section? It would be interesting to hear the unique applications to all this theory we keep seeing some of the more exact players write about.

Can anyone explain the G7 on the second part of the track... Where does it come from, and why does it sounds so good? Is that from a blues harmony?
Song in D minor, G7 is a major chord which is borrowed from D major. Use B natural note instead of Bb (D Dorian mode) over G7, but only there! The rest of the progression has Bb in the chords (A# chord should actually be called Bb because of key signature.
The tune is essentially a minor blues and in a classic minor blues the IV chord can be either minor or dominant. Often accompanists with go back and forth between the two in the same tune. If you are soloing out of the D minor pentatonic scale it will sound fine over the IV or iv. Hope this helps.
