The maj in the chord is for the quality of the 7th, not de 9th (which variations would be noted flat or Sharp 9th). All I m saying is of the scale used as suggested by pour friend was harmonica minor, the harmonized tonic chord of the first degree would be eminmaj9th, not emin9th. Using harmonic minor with This backing track creates clashes that sound extremely dissonant. But whatever sounds good to the player is what matters the most
