    Earnest, I have been looking and just maybe I don't quite understand but ... I have two 92 SB's (one is a compact) and I am looking for holsters for them. I have called and corresponded with several holster manufacturers. No one seems to have anything for appendix carry. Where would be a good place to look?

    • @LangdonTactical
      @LangdonTactical  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can use a 92FS holster or the holsters that we sell for the full size. It does not need to be an "SB" holster and your SB is dimensionally the same as an old 92FS or FS Compact. Most modern holster lock into the inside of the trigger guard area. The holsters we have should fit your gun just fine.

    Safariland 6035-7312: Just received this holster for a WC BrigTac w/SF300U and it doesn’t fit. It appears that the two plastic pieces inside the holster which contact the slide on each side (left/right) are cut for a standard 92 slide vs. the thicker Brigadier slide.
    With that said, I’m going to try and thin out the plastic pieces with a dremel and adjust the fit.

    • @wpb6254
      @wpb6254 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dude just got the same exact holster for my WC BrigTac and same result. That inside plastic is killer. Please let me know if that works.

      @@wpb6254 Safariland must have changed the inserts since Ernie’s review. So yes, it does work. It took some time though, and about a couple dozen fit tests which was a PIA.
      The first thing was to get an idea of where the slide contacts the plastic. I found that on mine it was the width and height. Unfortunately I don’t have a “normal” 92FS or M9 to test fit, but the orientation of the plastic “rail” is to slide underneath each ledge of the slide. So basically I ground off the inner and top part the rail.
      From there I used a belt sander with a 240grit belt and slowly started creating a ramp at the leading edge of the plastic so the slide would engage the rail. Replace the rail and test fit. Once I created the “ramp”, it was clear where the slide hit the rail. Repeat for the other side.
      Once I saw the marks where the slide hits on both sides, I put the flat rail surface on the sander and ground down to the same level as the witness mark.
      I took off a little bit of material at a time and slowly the gun would insert further and further into the holster. It definitely doesn’t go in as easily as Ernies example. But I’m hoping with use, the plastic will wear in. Right now it feels like a holster where the retention screw is cranked a little too tight. But I prefer a little bit too tight than loose.
      I had a front bushing put on my Beretta (like the Beretta Combat) so I also had to mess with the plastic insert on the muzzle end. I considered taking it out completely but found I could over insert the gun without it, so I modded it. You may or may not have to do that.

    I'm really close to "pulling the trigger" on a purchase of either PX4 Compact Carry or Full. I've shot both and prefer the Full but I worry about how realistic it can be to carry the Full size which is what I would like to do.
    So I figured I'd ask the guy who probably knows best about carrying a PX4 since I've seen you respond to a lot of comments. Would you or have you carried the Full rather than the Compact? Would you advise against it for a daily carry? I know you daily carried the compact for quite some time and may still do. Do you consider the Full to only be a range / home defense / duty pistol?

    • @ernestlangdon3075
      @ernestlangdon3075 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have carried both. Right now the PX4 Compact Carry is still my daily carry. It shoots like a full-size gun but it is a little smaller than the Full-Size PX4. The Full-Size PX4 is not a large gun and can easily be carried daily. It would come down to individual taste, holster location, and clothing.

    • @HalfMonty11
      @HalfMonty11 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Spike Flea I went with the full with plans to get the compact carry at a future date. The PX4 Full size ended up being fairly easy to conceal for me in appendix carry with a good kydex holster. Not super comfortable in a seated position for a long time but perfectly find standing.

      That is the issue with fixed sights and all the different ammo on the market. No matter what you do, some guns will not hit exactly to point of aim for everyone and every ammo. A few guns will need a taller rear sight with some ammo and some guns will hit a little high. Distance to the target also makes a difference.

    • @ernestlangdon3075
      @ernestlangdon3075 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@floridaplumber7512 It is a simple math problem. You just have to figure out exactly how low you are at a given distance and the exact ammo that you want to shoot. Your best bet is to get a taller rear sight, not a shorter front sight. Wilson Combat makes several different heights and styles of rear sights for the Beretta 92 dovetail. The stock Elite rear sight is .290" tall, you simply have to do the math of how far to move the point of impact.

    • @LangdonTactical
      @LangdonTactical  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The holster needs to be specifically for a 92A1 in most cases just because of the nose of the slide right below the barrel. It is much larger right around the recoil spring guide rod area of the slide. You may want to grab one of your kydex holsters that will not fit, meaning it goes most of the way and stops about an inch from seating, and take a blow dryer to the end of the holster. Take your time a go slow, heat up the holster, and push the"unloaded" gun all the way in. Thousands of people have done exactly that over the years. Look up some videos on that, I am sure there are many of them.

Wouldn't fit, as expected but... went a bought a cheap heat gun (from Habor Freight, $20) and $3 worth of Chicago style screw-no prong/flat, one metal and one rubber washer). Fifteen minutes of time with the heat gun and small drill hole right under below the light for hardware to have a home did it. You now can adjust the retention/pressure on the holster. Good luck
