Excellent build! The only thing I might suggest is that the tail bag, while iconic, is useless. I can't tell you how many tools I've scattered throughout the desert because the tail bag zipper let loose and all my riding tools jumped ship. I've learned to carry riding tools in another manner (camelbacks work) and use that beautiful, iconic tail bag to carry a big fat car wash sponge. The sponge is light weight, puffs the bag up (for appearances), and is cheap to replace.
Que hermosa moto, esta impecable felicitaciones, tuve una hace un mes la tuve que vender lamentablemente pues aqui en colombia es muy complejo conseguir los repuestos . Excelente maquina , bella bella
Thanks! I wired the bike up with a dual sport 12V harness from Rocky Mountain ATV/MC. The 12V DC power comes from a trail tech regulator/rectifier, which is powered by the AC current generated from the factory stator, the regulator/rectifier also charges an onboard 12V NiMH battery pack. From there, its just a matter of connection your turn signals, turn signal relay, horn, brake light switches, etc to the harness. The headlight was routed separately and everything is on switched power via the key.
Really spectacular!! I think that many current motorcycles envy some characteristics of this motorcycle, such as the great cycling, damping, proportions and low weight. But by updating it, you tipped the balance even more, to seriously rethink whether it is worth spending so much money on a new bike. What is certain is that you will have enjoyed the process of revitalizing it. And in that sense, I give you an opinion and advice: do not sell it, because its value is much higher than its cost... But if you do sell it, do it for a price that has deserved your effort and get rid of such a piece of art. Greetings from Argentina!
Hey mate, love the build - I have the same bike and have just bought the extended Acerbis tank but mine does not line up with the side guards as well as your does, mine has a gap in between. Do you know why?
Sweet build!!! I have a XR650R, XR400r and recently acquired older 1998 XR650l. Was looking for the XR600R but this 650l was hard to pass up. Where did you get the graphics for the tank? Your XR600r is one of the best looking bikes I've seen. Is the bike sold yet?
@@tonymoore4313 A lot of time polishing with a maroon scotchbrite pad. This bike was sold earlier this year but I still look back at pictures from time to time, it was a great project. Hope to take on more projects like this one soon.
@@brianmoto427yeah iv always wanted a xr600 then I see your TH-cam and just purchased one to build one the same. Thanks for the inspiration you did a good job.

Hello, nice job on fixing it up. Did you do any suspension mods such as heavier rate springs in the forks or rear spring? Is the bike still for sale?
Bike is still for sale! And, yes, re-sprung front and rear with heavier springs.

@@Catboy-hr2qp No modifications, bolts right up.
Wow! Thing is amazing!
