      Whatever the US does to NATO, 70% of people in the European Union want Russia. 70% of the people in the European Union want Russian gas, Russian food, Russian goods, the Russian market, and they want Putin to visit the countries in the European Union.
      To put it directly, no matter what the USA does to NATO, 70% of the people in the European Union directly support Putin and want the sanctions against Putin and Russia to be lifted.
      Putin made another Russia, Putin became a world leader and managed to raise Russia, managed to deal with the sanctions and save his country from bankruptcy.

    Some facts:
    1990- US and west German leaders said that if the Soviet leadership consented to German reunification and reunified Germany remaining in NATO, then NATO would not expand to the East.
    1997-Joe Biden warns that the Baltic states, namely Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, joining NATO could result in hostility from Russia.
    1999-Poland, Hungary and Czech Republic joined NATO.
    2004- Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia joined NATO.
    2008- Bucharest summit: Croatia and Albania were invited to join the Alliance. Allies welcomed Ukraine's and Georgia's Euro-Atlantic aspirations for membership and agreed that these countries will become members of NATO.
    2008- Russia military invasion of Georgia.
    2009- Albania and Croatia joined NATO.
    2017- Montenegro joined NATO.
    2020- North Macedonia joined NATO.
    As much as I repudiate war in any kind of form and I wouldn't want to live in Russia where I wouldn't have the same freedom of speech, I also don't think hypocrisy is the solution. I certainly can't deny that the West (mainly the US) has some responsibilities in this conflict. And the reason NATO is sending weapons to Ukraine (which is not a NATO member) is not because they are kind but because Ukraine has a strategic geopolitical importance.
    Unfortunately we can't talk about peace anymore at this stage, we just need to see where this continuous escalation will bring us.

    "Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities. It is two electric power plants, each serving a town of 60,000 population. It is two fine, fully equipped hospitals. It is some 50 miles of concrete highway. We pay for a single fighter plane with a half million bushels of wheat. We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people. This, I repeat, is the best way of life to be found on the road. the world has been taking. This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron."

      @anthonycastaneda3090 ปีที่แล้ว

      People think this is something that’s barely happening. Or started in 2014, but it didn’t. It started Germany after ww2. When the Allies (USA) had western Germany and the axis (USSR) had eastern Germany. There was an agreement after the Soviets fell not to move any forces passed eastern Germany into any former Soviet bloc.
      This didn’t work when nato was created in 49, and its forces having been moving eastward since. Now NATO forces are in Ukraine, NATO is trying to make Ukraine a member. Which i suppose isn’t bad in itself but it puts NATO forces on Putins doorstep and any nation who has the brains knows that’s a bad idea. To have enemies on your border. That’s what this is all about. Putin doesn’t want NATO that close and that was the original agreement.
