Thanks for your reaction. Karnivool is probably one of my top 3 bands of all time. That album this song is of "Sound Awake" is a masterpiece. With the final song on it "Change" really taking the crown. More proggy, rhythmically Very confusing at first listen, but it does that build-up you describe to perfection. Very emotional and imo a must listen. Keep it up ❤
Bro keep up on the Australian 2010s prog and do some Dead Lefter Circus “Space on the Wall” from the “…This is the Warning” album. Freakin incredible record. So overlooked.
Tbh, DLC haven't released a bad album, ever. They're such a nice balance between Karnivool and Cog. Cog can be a little too cringe anarchist/anti-poplist without necessity at times, and sometimes I need to jam some tunes that aren't too proggy 😅.
Did they also play at Pyramid fest in 2004 or 2005 with Butterfly Effect? Butters stole the show for me so I dont remember but know Karnivool was competing for my attention at that time in life
I know right? I personally like Karnivool much more Also, he is just talking over the whole song about random stuff... He literally missed all the best bits. I don't think he really paid attention to the song sadly.

"Change" regularly drives me to tears when listening to it loud. That build up at the end, piling intensity, dynamics and emotion... so good.
This is one of my favourite music videos of all time. And yes, I've seen them live about 10-12 times. They are always amazing live.

Well I guess maybe it was 00s. Anywho.

The singer has another band called The Birds Of Tokyo
I like their first album
The Australian Tool

They are their own band stop calling them the Australian Tool. On par with Tool and Opeth imo

I never really got the Tool comparison, apart from them both being prog bands with great use of unusual timings.
I like Karnivool more than Tool, but tool isn't bad.
Not cowbell.
