I think I passed you in the Botanical Gardens when I was in Melbourne in early November. Melbourne has several Markets. QVM is the most touristy being the closest in. Prahran, South Melbourne markets are also terrific with fantastic food offerings, but the most homegrown is Preston Market which also is next to a really long eat street, which passes through Vietnamese, Cambodian, Laotian, Thai, Burmese, Indian, Sri Lankan, and eventually to a lot of Turkish and Balkan restaurants.
Take a drive to Phillip Island accessible by a bridge , where you can see the penguins come up the beach to feed their young. Take a 40 km drive to Belgrave and ride on Puffing Billy a steam train where you can dangle your legs outside the train and enjoy the scenery. Take a drive down the famous Great Ocean Road . Visit Halls Gap and climb to the pinnacle.
It's interesting to see the city you live in viewed through the eyes of a visitor. For all of Melbourne's problems and challenges,, the gripes and whinges we have about it, the truth is Melbourne is a pretty good place to live overall.

That was the best video of Melbourne from a tourist I have seen .. excellent editing too ..Thanks for showing Melbourne as it should ...love the touch of short vids of random people
Including the portraits of local people really adds a generosity you don't always see in travel videos. It really adds warmth. I've been in Melbourne for decades now and still love it. Thanks for this vid.
Liked the video. Melbourne is the nicest city in Australia, there is so much to see in Melbourne and within a 2 or three hour drive. You were lucky with the weather it can change day to day. I'm glad you enjoyed your time here. Mum was right to take the wine, a trip down the river with a red , crusty bread and cheese. ❤
The overhead hazards in the botanical gardens were referring to the drop bears in the area. They can be somewhat dangerous so it's a good thing you listened to the sign
You were here just a bit too early to attend the Moonlight Cinema at the Royal Botanic Gardens that starts on 1st December. That's always a nice way to spend the night with a picnic and film to watch. A lovely portrayal of Melbourne - well done.
Here's a bit of Melbourne education for you....Meet me "Under the Clocks" is a phrase/catch cry Melbournians have been using since the 1930's. It's the main & easiest meeting place in Melbourne for friends to meet up before heading out on the town/going to the Aussie rules football, pub, pictures, theatre, dinner etc. My best mate played the drums (that's him on the drums in this film clip) for legendary Melbourne/Australian rock band - Weddings, Parties, Anything who wrote their iconic Melbourne song "Under the Clocks" back in the mid 80's. The song mentions many iconic areas/landmarks around Melbourne (ie: the MCG, Albert Park Lake, trendy Chapel Street in nearby Prahran & of course "Under the Clocks" itself....I hope you enjoy your time in Melbourne & I'm sure this great catchy iconic Melbourne song will stay with you in your memory & serve as a reminder of your time spent in our fair city of Melbourne.....enjoy ! th-cam.com/video/0pUAxzrRBb4/w-d-xo.html
It is crazy to believe that not long after it was founded, Melbourne became the wealthiest city in the world for a period during the latter half of the 1800s.
Melbourne was Australia's first capital city, as Federation took place in Melbourne. Melbourne is the sporting capital of the world, hosting the AWESOME AFL (Footy) Grand Final, the Australian F1 GP, The Melbourne Cup horse race, The Australian Tennis Open, The Sun Tour, (Australia's oldest and most famous bike race), has the worlds most Iconic sporting arena, The MCG (just called the G). You can actually circumnavigate Melbourne on Bike Paths, (Diamond Creek to Diamond Creek!). Melbourne is home to the Australian Ballet, and is the cultural heart of Australia.
Melbourne was the temporary location of the Federal Parliament for a few years. It was never the Capital of Australia. Only Canberra can boast that role.
It's worthwhile visiting the inner suburbs - Richmond, Fitzroy, Footscray and North Melbourne. They're all just a short tram or train ride out of the city centre. Each has its own distinctive culture, different than the CBD. The Preston Market is also fun.
Wow you guys made a great vlog with a difference by travelling on the yarra and enjoying yourselves doing different stuff. Come back to Melbourne again soon.❤

Welcome to Melbourne. If you are heading up to Puffing Billy there are so many places to see in the Dandenong Ranges. Check out the Tourist road ... go to Olinda ... very touristy but cool. You can't miss the Olinda Lolly shop. Been taking my daughters there for years ... gotta love it. If you have time go to Healesville Sanctuary and drive over the Black Spur ... Super cool and a must see for those that love driving.
China town is great for a feed but there is a place called Grazelands where there are examples of every different type of cuisine you can think of . Melbourne is truly a multi cultural city and a sporting hub . You would have loved the Melbourne Cricket ground and a game of Aussie rules football . The ground seats up to 1000 k and it gets packed full in finals time. The Mel Zoo is also something very special . Thanks for a lovely tourer around the place.

I'm an emigrant living north of Melbourne. Been here since '77 love Melbourne. It has changed a lot since i first came here but it is marvellous Melbourne. In the summer the Botanical Gardens has Shakespeare, children's shows and the Moonlight Cinema, all brilliant. Our Chinatown is one of the oldest outside of China, I think after San Francisco.
