Hey hey hey! Thank you so much for watching this. I made a little typo of the mouth in this video, can you spot it? 😂😄 I am so excited to say that the first three books in the Captain Hudson's Brilliant Cruises series are live now on Amazon!! They make the perfect gifts for both kids and adults. Thank you SO much to everybody who has left such a lovely review. Just search 'Captain Hudson' on Amazon. Woohoo! 🥳🎄
Hi Emma- nice review. We sailed with Uniworld on the Danube- booked a suite so our young adult son could be in the same room- they offered him an empty cabin for free when they saw how tall he was but he rather liked the Nespresso machine in the suite…. We had a butler who brought us breakfast every day, did our laundry and my brought up husband’s favorite bourbon in a crystal decanter… he drank very little of it. It was very nice, very over-the-top. In the end, we felt we could get higher-quality tours on our own, and didn’t really like the lounge-type entertainment, and didn’t take much advantage of the free booze. I thought it was a nice fun, high-end party boat. Viking is probably more our cup of tea. I also agree the bike tour took a degree of skill and energy. There were some avid cyclists who weren’t kind to the less skilled… so I’d steer clear of that unless I was fairly good.
Lovely vlog as usual Emma. It looked a superb river cruise. From accommodation to decor and food. You give such a great commentary journey through your experience with your honest opinion always. The heat was something I would struggle with, I would have ended up like your chocolate bar too. Love your sense of humor . Loved your matching outfits for the 70s themed night. Shame about the cycling tour. Great to hear your take on it, being an “undercover budget cruiser” Thank You for sharing
re the padded walls... when we stayed in a posh hotel in Venice the walls there were also covered in stretched fabric "wallpaper" held about 1/4" the actual wall... I think this may be a Venice area thing designed to reduce condensation of damp air on cool walls.
Yes, when I moved from California to New York I adjusted to the winter pretty quickly but my god, the HUMIDITY. Ufff. Growing up, my dad who was stationed on Saipan in the Coast Guard, would always say "At least it's a DRY heat" and I didn't understand until experiencing humidity. I could never survive in the south lol.
Did we ask about California? Americans always oversharing some tidbit about their state when the video has zero to do with California. And every other TH-cam commenter not living in the USA (even those in the UK and Australia) will mention country first, Americans assume the entire world knows their states. Thankfully it’s California not South Dakota. SMH I guess I should be happy you didn’t use abbreviations so thank you!
The below deck cabin being the cheapest is pretty neat, I definitely think that’s the most interesting view you could have. Submersible tours are usually 10 times more expensive.
Thanks for the great video! Love the way you answer questions that we travelers have even before I think about it...if it makes sense😃 Uniworld is on my bucket list...they do have a ship that's more contemporary than the "over-the-top" Luis XVI-kind of 😁 My all time fav river cruise brand is Emerald Cruises, very modern, clean lines, younger demographic, and very affordable (not been on a budget travel bucket) I highly recommend you to try. Thanks again for your wonderful videos!
We did this cruise and loved it. Disembarked before the MSC giant ran into the ship. Uniworld is a great line. Have been on 4 of their ships. Interiors are different but the hospitality is uniformly great.
I believe river cruises are similar to sea cruises, in that a solo traveler is most likely paying the same price as 2 people would pay... given that, I'm inclined to say let them sit wherever they want (when it can be accommodated, ofc). 😅 I personally would feel quite awkward at a table that large by myself, but as a 20 service industry veteran, I have different thoughts than most, and can testify that her request is not unusual
I think the fabric in the cabin must be Fortuny, because the chandelier in the atrium definitely is! I've wondered about these Venetian cruises; they're really a "lagoon" cruise rather than a "river cruise"!. It's a city I love, and know pretty well, so I didn't think it would be something I'd like to do, but seeing this video has me re-thinking that. (I've even been there in the middle of July, and, yes, it's hideously hot, but I couldn't pass up the chance to see "The Merchant of Venice" performed in the Venetian ghetto!) By the way, the boats in that race were not gondolas, but pupparini. Oh! I noticed in one of the shots of the program "Sabering". Was that where you slice off the top of a champagne bottle? Did you do that?
That looked like such a fun way to explore Venice! I’ve only cruised once which was a Nile river cruise. It really does start to feel like you are just a big group of friends that rented out the boat. I can’t lie, I kind of love that cabin. Def not boring to look at!
Fun fact: Once humidity hits 100%, water will not evaporate into the air anymore (at least not easily), so sweating won't cool you off (it's the evaporating sweat that carries heat away) plus you'll mostly stay sweaty even if you rest.
Haha I could totally imagine myself being that solo traveler lady! I don't wanna talk to random strangers ... but I'm also the person who takes 15 minutes to choose a table at a cafe because it has to "pass the vibe check" 😂
Ha ha, but you wouldn't do that if it meant other people didn't get dinner because there isn't that many spare seats right? That's what she wanted ha ha. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
I've been thinking of taking a river cruise with my daughter. We have to include international flights from Australia. It's bonkers just for a week or two. But I love the idea of visiting places that are nothing like home.
It is definitely worth the long travel and so different to our holidays and experiences in Australia. I have done 2 separate river cruises, a Xmas market one with my Mum in 2019 & one with my husband in May this year. Our Xmas market trip was through Trip a deal and at the time really good value.
Did I hear you say the temperature was around 86° F? Don't ever come to San Antonio, Texas, in the summertime. Our temperature reaches the high 90s if not a 100° or higher. And we have high humidity. 86° would be a nice Spring or Fall day.
Emma thank you for posting this interesting video about the luxury river cruise. I have done a lot of crusing including one river cruise, but none were as luxurious as this river cruise. Also enjoyed your live stream this morning!
SOOOO JELLY U WENT TO ITALY! In my mind I’m Italian too lmao!! That’s cute you travel with your dad mine would be like here’s some $ have fun lmaooo!! You know everyone talks about Carnival it can be ghetto sometimes but the price is right and the ppl are so nice. I wouldn’t feel comfortable on a cruise like this 😢
If I could, I would take this cruise in cooler weather. I might be used to 90%+ humidity in Hampton Roads Virginia, but I wouldn’t want to experience it on holiday!
Americans call candy 'sweets' as well...Or at least I do: 'Don't eat too many sweets' is something most Americans would understand. But I always appreciate the lesson. Keep up the good work. Peace.
@@EmmaCruisesYes, sweets are anything and everything that is sugary and sweet, but it’s used in a different manner, mainly to remind kids not to eat too many sweets before dinner! It’s more like a harsh descriptive manner that implies what your eating is kind of unhealthy!

That wall paper yikes. I walked through that ship when we were docked next to it. It was a bit much for me. Have you tried Amadeus line. I love there river cruises.
Our Uniworld cruise did have a little pool- next to the bar. The glass became opaque whenever anyone went in it which was very cool- and kept us from being entertainment for the bar patrons!

Sleeping head to foot lessons the chances of passing germs back and forth. It helps to keep disease at bay. That's why the military arranges beds head to foot in open bays. And those beds are a few feet apart. The beds in Emma's cabin had no space between them.
Hi Emma, Paul. A great watch 🙏. Looks like everything was of high quality (bedrooms perhaps a little too fussy for us) and that despite the heat, you had a great holiday. Having done a couple of Viking river cruises in the lower deck rooms we appreciated the welcome pack of a snorkel and pair of flippers! Keep up the great work Emma ❤ M&Y

We love river cruises in Europe. Spend more up front and stay away from the riff raf. No kids, great food and service. Older crowd but that's fine, I don't want to be around 30 somethings ever. Small number of guests, never crowed. Uniworld is a great company, but we go with Viking (oceans also). Excursions start early 8am, generally. We don't mind, we're there to see things not sleep till noon. FYI, we don't cruise anywhere HOT, vacation time not torture time. Love dressing comfortably during the day and dressing up just a bit for dinner, respect. No cruise director leading conga lines, or trying to make people have fun, freedom. We never pay for excursions or buy drink packages and always get the water level cabin.
